You were on spot -- Elias was amazing: fun, thoughtful, and entergetic. He really made the vacation an experience and an adventure! We did many of the typical vacation things: ziplining, and snorkeling, but when I asked everyone to rate their top two experiences, here's what we got (and there are more than 2 answers as not everyone's answers were the same):
Watching the Olive Ridley turtles lay eggs, and learning about the village and its history with the turtles;
Fishing for tuna and reds, and more;
Cheering on the sabernaros as they competed to capture rings off a hanging string;
Driving up to Monte Verde and our fabulous night walk where we saw a two-toed sloth, pit viper, a prorcupine in a tree itching itself, sleeping jays, a hiding tarantula, and so much more;
Riding the rivers with guides and seeing crocodiles, screech owls, bats...;
Visiting the Guaitil Pottery makers and learning about their history and art;
We found out about Casa Ostional from our neighbors, and we are so glad we took them up on their recommendation. It is truly a unique and amazing experience. We took our two boys, ages 11 and 13, and they had a ball. The home is beautiful, Elias is an amazing tour guide/host/Spanish teacher and Luis' food is incredible -- we did not go hungry. We especially loved the fresh juice at every meal. We fished, snorkeled, zip lined, took an ATV tour and enjoyed several beaches. The infinity pool is so beautiful to relax in and enjoy the view of the ocean and beautiful trees. We even enjoyed visits from the monkeys on several of the afternoons -- spectacular! I highly recommend this home -- it is an unforgettable experience. We plan to come back again soon.
Beautiful home with great views and a staff that will absolutely make your stay a once in a lifetime experience! Elias is the best tour guide and driver who takes care of the guests like family! Luis makes amazing meals that allow you to experience real Costa Rican cuisine! This trip was something that we will never forget!
Our family (6 people) spent 9 nights here over Christmas 2016. This was our second visit to Costa Rica, and the first to the Guanacaste area. The house is simple and beautiful, or should I say simply beautiful! We chose to have the meals included and we did not regret it once! Wow. Chef Luis was outstanding! The meals were fabulous. Elías, our driver and host, was fantastic and took great care of us. We now consider them all friends! If you're looking for a quiet, beautiful, all-inclusive type of holiday without the crowds, this is it. Would most certainly come here again!
This was my first visit to Costa Rica - had no clue what to expect - this place and the people exceeded any expectations I had imagined.
the property and it views were amazing, beaches were breath taking, howler monkeys right outside the house, gorgeous sunsets from the viewing deck, insects I didn't know that were even humanly possible to get that large (haha referring to grasshoppers) traveling the dirt roads was an adventure.
What truly made the trip was the wonderful people we now proudly call our friends.
Elias was a wealth of knowledge- he shared so much of Costa Rica with us, translated when we needed it amongst stores, beaches, bars etc. he was so good with all of our children, gave us medical attention with some minor boo boos with the adults, went above and beyond and had us over so we could watch the super bowl from his tv and even created a stadium seating on his porch. He made sure we had everything we needed at all times and helped plan out the days
Luis - omg his food .... enough said ! He cared for each dish he prepared, accommodated my daughter allergies, cooked up fresh tuna that we caught that day. Ah every meal was a real treat.
Esther- she made fresh juice for every meal which was SOOO DELICIOUS, set the table, cleaned, kept up with all over our laundry (4 adults and 5 kids) and she melted my heart with the bond she made with my little 3 year old son.
Overall - this is by far the best vacation - Thanks to the beautiful house, beautiful country, and most of all; the most beautiful people I have ever met (Elias, Luis, Esther, Elana, Sharon) ! I will be coming back to see you all.
What a beautiful experience with a most wonderful host, Elias; chef, Luis; and sous chef and housekeeper, Esther. This was our second time here and will not be our last. We loved the house, the pool, the jungle, and the incredible views. Not only was our vacation set in a Costa Rican paradise, but we felt cared for by a team at Casa Ostional of excellent, lovely, and dear sweet people! Thank you. We loved it...Janet
This was our second opportunity to enjoy Casa Ostional, Costa Rica, Elias, Luis and Ester. Every review talks about the food (plentiful and amazing!), the house, the infinity pool, the views, the wonderful activities and the best part of all, Elias. He again facilitated a fun, surprising, relaxing, adventure-filled vacation for us. And we didn't even know how much we'd depend on him to share all that there is to experience in this beautiful area of Costa Rica. We are so grateful! If you are craving a quiet and private environment for your vacation, and you want to also take advantage of the adventures around the area with your family, look no further. You just found it. We will be back for trip #3 soon! :)
