FISHING - Dorado, Marlin, and Yellow-Fin Tuna: The Puerto Vallarta fishing area is located on Mexico's open, central Pacific coast at about latitude 20 degrees north. Puerto Vallarta's offshore sport fishing water temperatures range from the low-70s in February-March, to the high-80s in August-September. During the summer-fall months of June-October and into November, the peak yellowfin tuna season brings tuna of all sizes, including huge fish pushing close to the 400-pound class, to Puerto Vallarta's outer waters. Closely following as water temperatures and sea conditions stabilize from about September onwards are peak seasons for dorado (also called mahi-mahi), black marlin, blue marlin, sailfish, and wahoo. Inshore fishing for jacks, snappers, and other species is always available, with a good midsummer roosterfish run during July-August, jack crevalle peaking during February-March, and the various pargo or snapper species. Excellent fishing much of the year--especially for really huge tuna and marlin. We can make reservations
BEACHES - the best in the Bay of Banderas: Unargueably, the best beaches in the Puerto Vallarta area are on the north shore - Destiladares, Manzanilla, Sayulita, Bucerias, and San Pancho (also called San Francisco). The beaches here are endless: you could easily walk along its medium-coarse beige sands from La Cruz all the way south to Nuevo Vallarta. The surf is gentle enough for swimming but also has body-surfable waves. The best beaches for surfing and boogie boarding are Destiladares and Sayulita.
La Cruz - charming fishing village: La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is home to the new 400-slip Marina Riviera Nayarit which includes world-class fishing charters - e.g. dorado (mahi mahi), huachingo (red snapper), sailfish, and marlin. 7 Golf Courses surround Casa Parota. Along with numerous fabulous restaurants, beach clubs, and sightseeing. La Cruz is located in the center of the newly-emerging North Bay area, which extends from Bucerias to Punta Mita (home of the Four Seasons Punta Mita), and beyond to Sayulita and San Francisco (also called San Pancho). 7 Golf Courses nearby - and more golf courses being added every year. Two more courses nearby coming online at the emerging Ritz Carlton located at the new Fonatur resort area between Punta de Mita and Sayulita.
Mexico is wonderful - the first thing people ask is, 'Is it safe?' We have driven all through Mexico and have had wonderful experiences from Merida to San Miguel de Allende, the Copper Canyon, Guadalajara, Zacatecas, Oaxaca, and throughout the Puerto Vallarta region. Come experience the magic of Mexico - the food and people are fantastic and welcoming.
La Cruz has so much to offer - world class fishing for marlin, mahi, rooster fish, sailfish, and tuna. Then there's always restaurants, music and meeting great people!
Hey Amy..... We are loving it here!!!
Question... Can we extend our stay???? Is it possible????
WOW….. The house ……well as we have told everyone….on a scale from 1 to 10 it is a 100!!!! Thank you so much we had a wonderful time. Gaby was awesome and very helpful. We enjoyed every moment it was so relaxing. Thanks again for all your help & patience while planning this trip we look forward to doing this again. This time there will not be as many questions as we will now be “seasoned” travelers. Again thank you – you made our vacation very memorable. We want to try and make this a yearly “get away." Just a note, the guys fished Tues, Thurs, Sat and did wonderful. Tues – 40lb Dorado & 95 lb Sail Fish – this was a wonderful dinner, Thurs – 20 lb dorado & 350 lb black marlin, Sat – only one fish caught but took 5 hours to boat – 600 lb blue marlin. Unfortunately, they did not enter the tournament or would have taken 1st but they know for next year. So needless to say we had a wonderful trip – thanks again for your hospitality.
We stayed at Casa Perla, with 7 other friends, for my husbands 50th birthday. The house, pool, and location are fantastic. Lalo, the house manager, is a DREAM! He took care of all our needs from the moment we arrived. One of our friends got sick and Lalo immediately contacted a doctor, took her to the pharmacy, and ensured she had everything she needed to get better. He checked in daily to make sure we were doing well and had everything we needed. By the end of the trip, Lalo was family!
I love to cook and the Mercado de Pescado (Fish Market) is a 2 minute walk from the house. We went down most mornings and bought fresh fish from the fisherman and cooked up a feast. The pool is amazing and hard to leave, even for a day at the beach. It is a convenient walk to Manzanillo beach, the water is calm, the beer is cheap, and the Empanadas are incredible.
This 6 bedroom house is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable. I would recommend Casa Perla to groups of friends, families with young children or teenagers, or anyone just wanting to relax.
I will definitely be back to Casa Perla!
My friends and I recently stayed at Casa Perla (La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Narayit Mexico) July 6 - July 13, 2016. I can't say enough about the property manager Lalo), the house, its proximity to the marina and the town of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. All fantastic!
First, let me start with Lalo (property manager)...amazing does not even begin to describe him...friendly, took care of any issues immediately & professionally and made sure our vacation was spent in pure relaxation mode (he even brought us a pineapple!). He checked in on us daily and made sure we were well taken care of!
The house is gorgeous (this is our 3rd time at this property and Lalo made sure it was the best one yet!!) - 6 bedrooms & bathrooms comfortably fit our group! And the pool was heavenly!
The house's proximity to both the marina / fish market as well as town made it easy for us to buy fresh fish to cook or walk to town if we did not feel like cooking....could not ask for more! The house is also conveniently located near Manzanillo beach if one fancies a dip in the ocean!
Needless to say that we will be back! Lalo keeps the house in perfect order and you can see the improvements his attention has made!
Thanks for making our stay and vacation amazing! I would recommend this property for families, friend get-togethers, families with children and in general for anyone seeking to chill and relax. You will definitely decompress at Casa Perla!
The house and grounds are beautiful. The pool is nice and big with a jacuzzi on the lower level. The palapa next to the pool was perfect for our meals. There was lots of seating for everyone. Close to La Cruz and restaurants, the fish market and the wonderful Sunday market. It would have been a perfect place if not for the problems that we encountered. The local property manager, Eduardo, was incredible and did the best that he could to help us. Shortly after arriving, discovered that the dishwasher and sink were unusable, dirty greasy water everywhere on the floor when used. After two days of living with the plumber, said that he couldn't do anything because he would have to tear the floor apart. So, for the rest of our stay, we could not use the kitchen sink. They did finally arrange for a maid to come in and do our dishes. The wifi did not work and when they finally were able to fix it, it just was so very weak that couldn't even get the weather forecast, so basically, no wifi the whole time we were there. We were able to use the jacuzzi only one time as the water leaks out of it, so does't have enough water to work. Woke up to an empty pool, and when we did have the pool they just couldn't seem to be able to heat it. We had the pool heated only 3 days out of the 10 we were there. So all in all, we lived with workmen trying to fix the kitchen plumbing, then workmen passing this huge hose through the whole house to fill the pool for two days. Workmen with you on your vacation for five days out of the ten when you are paying these prices (more than the listed price) is just not what one would expect. We all loved this place, but until the problems are solved and the place given a big refresh, we would not consider going back.
Our family of 9 just returned from a 10 day stay at Casa Perla. Our reviews of the property are mixed, and at this time I'm not sure we would return.
The house is a beautiful Spanish style home. Very stylish and spacious. More than enough room for our entire group.
There were lots of games, outdoor sport items (surf boards, boogie boards etc), towels and the kitchen was well stocked.
Beautiful view of the Bay from the upstairs patio.
Walking distance to the center of La Cruz to go for dinner and steps away from the marina for the Sunday market and to buy fresh seafood.
The pool and backyard are beautiful. The pool was perfect for the whole lot of us. Lots of seating and the outdoor patio was perfect for dinners.
The property manager, was excellent. He went above and beyond to help us have our needs met in spite of numerous problems. Great onsite property manager, we really can't say enough positive things about him.
The house is in need of some serious repairs in the kitchen.
The sink & dishwasher in the kitchen flood when used. When this happened, the kitchen floors were covered in greasy, dirty, old water and old food that came up out of the drains and flooded all over the kitchen floor and filled up the kitchen sinks. A plumber came 2 times and stated that the floors would need to be dug up to make a full repair to the underground pipes. The plumber was unable to fix the problem. We were unable to use the dishwasher for the remainder of the trip and the kitchen sink was always plugging up with dirty, chunky water. To make up for this, a maid was sent daily to do our dishes, so this was good, but the kitchen sinks were unusable to wash fruits/vegetables for cooking.
There was difficulty getting propane to heat the pool. We only had it heated for 3 days of our 10 day stay and we would have preferred it to be heated the entire time.
We woke up one morning to the entire pool empty. It had infinitied it's way over the ledge into the marina. We went without a pool for a full day.
The wifi was broken for the first 5 days (holidays) and was very weak/inconsistent when fixed.
The house could use a bug spray again as we had cockroach sightings and there was a live scorpion in the kitchen water cooler.
In total, we spent the first 5 days of our trip with repair people in the house. It was disruptive.
So while we made the best of our stay, there were a lot of issues for the amount we paid (above listed pricing).
The house is amazing. All six bedrooms are fantastic, the kitchen is well equipped and large. Beautiful plants and flowers adorn the pool area and the interior courtyard. Location near the marina is a huge plus, and if you like fresh seafood, there is a fish/seafood market just a block away, so you can grill fresh lobster tails and prawns for lunch or dinner or you can rent a boat and go fishing or whale watching. Highly recommend this house for families.
