Beaufort is a charming little historic NC town founded in 1709 which makes it the 3rd oldest in the state. Originally a Port of Entry and fishing village, Beaufort has a rich maritime history. The historic waterfront district along Taylor’s Creek offers visitors the opportunity to dine and shop while enjoying views of feral horses on Carrot Island and boats from all over the world at the Beaufort Docks. Water ferries transport visitors to nearby Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks. There are historic and ghost tours available daily that provide a rich history of the area, and one of Blackbeard’s legendary homes is just around the corner from our vacation home! Tour the North Carolina Maritime Museum, the Beaufort Historic Site, and walk or bike the tree lined streets of the historic neighborhoods. There are fabulous restaurants by the waterfront to enjoy including annual events like the Food and Wine Weekend with winemakers and top chefs from around the world and the music festival. Whatever you decide to do, I am sure that you will find Beaufort as delightfully different as we do – and it's only 3 hours from Raleigh!
The home sleeps 12 and was built only a few years ago so has the amenities of a new home. We include bikes, a canoe, and other extras with the rental.
This house was absolutely perfect for our friends coming together from all across the country to celebrate a wedding. It was even better than the pictures-- so spacious and well decorated inside! We had a baby and dog with us as well and it was absolutely perfect for all. We were able to walk everywhere-- downtown, the waterfront and all restaurants and shops. The boats in the garage were the perfect touch for us to enjoy our Beaufort vacation! We will definitely be back!
Owner recommended a couple restaurants, his first was a fantastic choice. Canoe and Kayak provided excellent access to Islands. House was well equipped with top notch appliances. I am 58 and this is the BEST vacation home in which I have stayed. Neighborhood very nice and friendly. Whole family wants to go back!
This home was really great for our family. BR on lower level worked great for Nana and Pop. 5 BRs upstairs were perfect for "kids" and grandkids. The small family room on 2nd floor was a good getaway for reading or playing board games. The small room on lower level was great for games and crafts with grandkids. We liked that there was only one TV in the house, so we stayed together in the great room and really spent lots of time together as a family. The kids loved the big back yard for playing ball. We enjoyed the bikes and walking to town and to the water. Everything was close and convenient. I look forward to another trip to this unique home.
The house was perfectly suited for our 5 adults and 6 children extended family vacation. A first floor bedroom and full bath accommodated our elderly mom and the upstairs layout allowed everyone in our family to have private, comfortable sleeping quarters. We loved not having carpet in the house...much easier to clean up any lingering sand from our beach excursions as well as any dining messes from the younger kids.
Kitchen has everything you would ever need and then some. Plenty of useful beach equipment in the garage.
Loved the Crystal Coast area and will very likely come back...our favorite Atlantic Ocean beach vacation site yet. If you can get a boat or ferry ride over to Cape Lookout or Shackleford Island, those are the beaches where you should spend your time. Water temps are perfect...crowds are non-existent and there was usually a great breeze. Stopped by Atlantic Beach one day--was not as impressed with the public access area. Wouldn't return to the area if that was my only beach option.
Plenty of great dining choices available in the area--we loved being able to walk downtown along Taylors Creek. Also, the Beaufort Pirate Invasion in August is a great family attraction and was a nice way to end our vacation week.
The owner was most accommodating with everything that was provided in the house. My only suggestions for improvement would be some softer towels (and maybe a few more of them if possible)...a more modern, larger TV in the living room would also be a nice addition for winding down in the evening with family, or for rainy days. Having the high speed internet was fantastic...the surround sound provided was decent.
We're grateful for our time at this property--we created some great family memories!
This was our second stay in the past 3 years. We love the house because it had enough room to let us spread out. We didn't have enough to fill the house but the kids liked each having their own room. We enjoyed the house the first time we stayed there because they had bikes, a canoe, etc and even tools to work with if anything went wrong with personal items. While we brought our own bikes and paddle board this year we noticed they have added many new bikes and even a couple of kayaks. Having these available is a great bonus. We always walk or bike the few blocks downtown so the house is in a perfect location. I bring a boat with us but keep that at the town dock. I don't think it is worth the extra money getting a house right on the water. You would probably be further from town and it is nice to keep the boat on a floating dock with lights, action and other boaters at the town docks. The beach a block away makes a great launching spot for kayaks or paddle boards and we used the dock there to load people on and off the boat. The house is clean, Julie takes great care of it and everything you need is there. We will likely go back again the end of summer. Highly recommend. To add a personal note if you haven't been to Beaufort you must visit. I have been everywhere up and down the East coast and this is one of the only locations where you have clean blue water and white sandy beaches. We will retire there one day and have visited several times looking at homes for sale. It should definitely be on your short list of family vacation spots if you enjoy the small town atmosphere.
Great house for a family. There were 5 adults and two kids in our group and we all had our own room and space. They have just about everything you could need to have a nice vacation. There are stairs, so bring along a baby gate if you have little ones. There are some toys for kiddos and a ton of outdoor toys. The house has a great laid back feel, great for a beach vacation!
