The Isle of Palms, like all barrier islands, has a dynamic beach near the inlet that separates the island from Dewees Island. The ebb and flow of the changing tides, through the inlet, creates and moves sand bars just off shore. These sandbars will channel waves between them, resulting in the massive buildup of sand along portions of the island where other areas may develop temporary erosional hot spots. These hot spots will feature a sand beach throughout the day outside an hour or so before and after high tide. Where a dry sand beach may be limited in these few areas at high tide, walking either direction will lead to an area where the sandbars have created an expansive beach to enjoy at any tide.

We truly enjoyed our visit to Wild Dunes. This was our second time to stay at 63 Grand Pavilion. The house is beautiful but is getting some age on it. The master bathroom is in need of updating and repairs. Furniture could use some attention. Overall, we love the house. It accommodates our family very well. The family voted to stay at 63 Grand Pavilion again on our next trip to Charleston!
Delightful home, delightful vacation. Plenty of room for the whole family.
Beautiful location and upscale house beset by nagging problems that belie its stature.
Great location with beautiful views. House is laid out nicely. Offers several families great accommodations for privacy and togetherness. Nice features like tall ceilings, large rooms, private baths, and lots of porches.
1. Mattresses in upstairs master and downstairs queens need to be replaced. Sag badly.
2. Dishwasher did not clean dishes thoroughly. Dryer did not dry clothes adequately. Need to be replaced.
3. Broken shade over large window in downstairs master was broken so badly that it compromised privacy and impaired view.
4. Large black flies were constantly found in the house with no apparent means of entry. No windows or doors were kept open.
5. Access to the beach was limited with constant "special events" planned in pathway for the first three days there. This access was shut down by private parties for 3 days forcing a much longer walk thru high grass and a muddy or water logged track.
The outside shower barely has any water flow.
6. The driveway access and garage are narrow. The garage is impossible to access by an SUV or truck without entering the neighbor's driveway and approaching head on.
Overall, this house is nice and deserves to not be impaired with problems associated with lesser properties. Fix these things and the house gets 5 stars.
Wild Dunes Ocean Front bliss
Great view, excellent location, and spacious! Porches are user friendly, covered, safe for the kids, and suited for lunch on the Atlantic
We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us this 5 star review. We have spent countless hours on the porches enjoying the views and are glad to hear you and the kids were able to enjoy them as well. We would be thrilled to have you come back and stay with us again for your next vacation!
Great space, close to the water.
Wonderful for 3 families to share. Needs a little TLC (updates) but was a lovely spot to stay. The views were perfect!
We really appreciate the feedback and are glad you enjoyed your stay. The views are what sold us on the house.
Four girlfriends and I stayed here for a week while visiting Charleston in April 2015. The house was just as beautiful as it appeared in the online photos. The beds were so comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked. We sat out on the deck and had coffee every morning. This house was a great place to stay while visiting Charleston, and I would come back and stay again. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
