Guestbook comments from the owner

We just wanted to express our gratitude for a week of no stress and quiet therapy. You have so many nice extra touches that sets your camp apart. Everthing we needed and more was there for us... We felt the welcomeness and peacefulness when we arrived and as the week went on, the camp became a pleasant and comfortable home- This was due to the unique and thoughtful touches in every corner of the cabin and your sincere graciousness and sharing spirits. We hope to be back next year.

Tranquility on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We spent our vacation at the Hideaway at North Lake in August of 2015.

On the weekdays this was truly the place of peace and tranquility. The view of the lake from the living room, hummingbirds around the feeders, fragrant air…

The weekend was somewhat different. There is public boat launch nearby, and it was used quite a bit by the weekender crowd with power boats practically all day.

The cabin is tastefully decorated, and very comfortable.

The lake is beautiful, and views change, as you paddle along. We used Dave and Diane’s canoe quite a bit, and got a good workout!

There are some fishing opportunities in the area – talk to Dave and Diane… there are some hiking trails too…

A much needed getaway

  • 5 of 5

The Hideaway is such a beautiful place to stay. The scenery, the wildlife and the atmosphere were all phenomenal. I have never gone on a vacation where I have felt so recharged and refreshed when I left like I did when I left the Hideaway. My wife, our friends and I that stayed here enjoyed ourselves very much. Dave and Diane have so much at the cabin for you to do that there isn't even a need to leave it. There is a great selection of very good books, board games and outdoor activities that will keep you busy the whole time you're there. The Cabin is very clean and maintained extremely well. An A+ experience overall and I hope to be back again next year.

The Hideaway is fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Dave & Diane's cabin on North Lake! Our 3 boys had the upstairs loft bedroom area to themselves while my husband and I enjoyed the private master bedroom with the super comfy king-sized bed on the downstairs level. Their are 2 kayaks and a nice canoe. No need to worry about air-conditioning with the beautiful, constant Adirondack breezes! We all got a kick out of the hummingbirds buzzing around the window feeders since we don't really see them in New Jersey! A very relaxing setting but bring a radio for weather, music, etc. to stay connected... if you must!?

Serene Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The Hideaway at North Lake met all of our family expectations. The accomodations were very comfortable and all that was described in the listing was at hand. Dave and Diane were excellent resources for local information and activities. The vacation was a true get away on a very peaceful lake nestled in the Adirondacks. We really appreciated the use of kayaks, canoe and row boat, allowing us to explore the entire lake. We also found many trails for hiking. The loons and other birds were so fun to watch and listen to (and I am not normally a bird person!). We had campfires in the evenings, fished and swam every day, and visited Old Forge. We only left The Hideaway one day of our stay; we were content to remain at camp and just relax on the dock or in front of the wall of windows in the living area. Great cottage, great vacation, great hosts.

Great place to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely home and a very comfortable place to retreat from the world. Furnishings are homey camp-style, nothing fancy. Kitchen is simple, but well-equipped with all the basics which made cooking a breeze. Just be sure to bring all the food you'll need - no running down to the grocery store for missed items! Access to the lake is fantastic - just walk out the door and you are there. We enjoyed seeing and hearing two families of loons, many ducks and hummingbirds. A good quality canoe and three kayaks were available as well as an assortment of outdoor furniture.

Most of the time we were there, it was extremely quiet. There are camp spots across the lake and the put in for the local fish and game group adjoins the property, but both were only lightly used. If you are ready to kick up your feet, relax and enjoy some simple down time, this is a great place to be.

Enchanting vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our vacation here was just magical - our children fed the ducks everyday; caught fish, newts, frogs; went swimming and kayaking. It's a beautiful and quaint home on the lake - and the owners are wonderful. We also had fun day trips to Mt. McCauley in Old Forge, and the county fair in Boonville. We were very fortunate to be at this special mountain/lake house.
