Outdated and very hot apartment with no air conditioning
The only good thing about this apartment was the proximity to the old town of Le Suquet and the church at the top with panoramic views of the city. Other than that, the apartment was really outdated with old furniture and appliances, no TV in the bedroom, no air conditioner, only dirty fans blowing hot air in the really hot days we stayed here. The apartment was also on a second floor with no elevator. After seeing where the big hotels were and how much they asked per night, this booking was not worth the money I spent. I had to listen to my poor husband complaining the entire time because the heat was so unbearable that he could not sleep. The bed in the bedroom was also very small and hard. I would never stay here again.
Thank you for reviewing our apartment. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay, and whilst we appreciate your feedback, we find it sad when we receive negative comments about things that are beyond our control. However, I will try to objectively address the points raised.
We have been letting our apartment for many years, and although summers can be hot we have not felt the need to install air-conditioning. This year Europe has experienced one of the hottest summers on record which is the exception to the norm. I understand you were provided with additional fans on your arrival. Whilst we may review installing air conditioning in the future should the summers continue to be exceptionally hot, our listing on HomeAway states that the apartment doesn’t have air-con.
It’s interesting you have describe the apartment as outdated. I believe this is where we are divided by a common language; what you describe as ‘outdated’ we consider ‘rustic charm’ which adds to the authentic experience of staying in Le Suquet. The house was built in (circa) 1850 and, as with all other properties in the area, no elevators have been installed as it would destroy the character of these old buildings. Again I am surprised that this point has been raised as it clearly says on the website that the apartment is on the 2nd floor with no elevator and therefore unsuitable for the elderly or infirm.
With regard to the points raised about the bedroom, following comments received from guests, we made a conscious decision not to have a TV in the bedroom as doing so can produce negative Feng Shui and often inhibits restful sleep. As many of our guests return year on year for both business and pleasure, it is important to us that they all have a good nights sleep so we invested a lot in a good quality bed. The bed is a European kingsize and we have always found it to be spacious and comfortable, but I guess these sizes must be different in America.
We believe that the product we offer affords excellent value for money and we are comparable to similar size apartments in Le Suquet. The product is very different to that of the big hotels and although each has its place in the market, It’s a bit like comparing apples with pears, they are both fruits but not necessarily to everyone’s taste.
I must say, I am both surprised and saddened by the comments raised, surprised as the information is clearly stated on the website, and saddened that you will never stay with us again.
Very comfortable apartment
We had a great time staying in this flat for 3 days. The situation is marvellous, so close to the restaurants and beach yet peaceful.
Everything we needed was there and both Patrick and Maria who is the key holder went out of their way to be helpful.
I would recommend this apartment for anyone who wants a city break for a few days especially in November......to sit and eat on the beach at this time of year was a real treat!
Great apartment and location in Cannes
The apartment was very accurately described, comfortable and good value for money. The communal area of the building was not great but once inside the apartment we were very happy and it was very quiet despite being in a city. The location of the apartment could not have been better for getting around on foot. Within 5 minutes walk there are numerous lovely restaurants for lunch or dinner. Within 10 minutes or so you are at the train station and the bus stop for the airport bus.
Communication with the Owner was swift and easy as was meeting his representative to get the keys. All in all it is definitely somewhere I would return to if I visit Cannes again.
Fab apartment, close to all amenities
This was our first visit to this apartment and we will certainly be returning next year! The apartment is fantastic and had everything you need for a comfortable stay... really a perfect home away from home.
The apartment is located in a very central location in Old Town; you are only a short walk from the main row of restaurants, the beach, the local supermarket and the castle (which is well worth a visit!!).
We have certainly enjoyed our stay and the owners couldn’t have done more to ensure we had a comfortable stay. The information guide was a treasure, lots of hints and tips on restaurants, shops etc.
We were lucky enough to be in Cannes on one of the Fireworks nights, which also happened to be the British night. It was completely amazing to watch in a perfect location.
Thank you for everything, I’m sure we will be back next year!!!
GREAT Apartment in a great location
This is our second visit to this apartment. Cannot beat this apartment for location, just a couple of minutes walk from the main restaurant street one way and a couple of minutes walk from the beach the other way. Very clean and homely apartment, books, CDs, DVDs and everything you need in the kitchen. We will be back!
The apartment superbly located in the old town of Cannes, just a 5 - minute stroll to the Palais des Festivals. Whether you are attending one of Cannes' many conferences or on a holiday, you will want to be at the very heart of the action. Nearby you will find wonderful restaurants and bars, shops, a little supermarket, fantastic jewelers, bakeries and much more.
Life in Cannes centres around the world famous Croisette, the most elegant seaside promenade in Europe. Flanked by clear blue sea, golden beaches and perfect lines of striped parasols on one side and on the other stately palms, exclusive shops and pavement cafes. The beach is 250 meters away, The local railway station is about a five minute walk away and affords the opportunity to explore all what the Cote D’Azur has to offer. There are regular trains to Nice and Monaco, and Ventimiglia in Italy, not to mention all the areas in between.
