About Patti and Ed Dewing

Hello All! Our names are Ed and Patti Dewing and we have lived in Hansville since 1990 where we raised our two daughters Chelsie and Lindsay. We love this area and have been exploring it for all these years and still find new and fun spots to enjoy. Ed has been a flight attendant for Delta Airlines for 34 years and Patti has worked for the North Kitsap School District for 17 years. Chelsie, the oldest daughter, works for Children´s Hospital in Seattle and Lindsay is currently serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras. We love the sun, sand and beach and although Washington may seem like a unusual place to find that we have found that some of the best of what´s around lies right outside our backdoor. We hope you can come and find a bit of your own paradise in the Pacific Nortrhwest!

Why Patti and Ed Dewing chose Puget Sound

Ed and I decided to buy a vacation rental because traveling is in our blood and we have been so lucky as to travel to many parts of the world. We have always thought about how we would create the perfect getaway and vacation environment and we decided that the perfect place would be here on the Kitsap Penninsula. We know the area very well and can give information about all the secret hideaways and fun places to visit. So we have taken on the challange of creating a cozy and fun home away from home! Another reason we purchased this home in particular is because the home we live in looks out over the Hood Canal but the vacation rental home looks out over the Puget Sound Shipping Lanes yet the homes are only a few miles apart. The difference between the two water views is amazing and we have really enjoyed the contrast between the two bodies of water. Hansville and the Kitsap Peninsula have a lot to offer and we are so close to the home that we can help you create the perfect weekend getaway or extended stay. Its a wonderful location because you´ve got some incredible Northwest beaches that reside in a small but lively town yet, Seattle is only a ferry boat ride away. All in all it has been a blast creating a home where people can come and enjoy the beauty of our town and still feel at home!

What makes this house unique

While staying at our property we enjoy mostly the view that is constantly changing and in motion. The amount and variety of boats that pass through the Shipping Lanes on a daily basis provides some of the greatest and never boring views we have ever seen. We enjoy the hot tub that looks out onto the water both at night and during the day. There are constantly different types of wildlife, depending on the season, that can be easily spotted from the house including deer, racoons, many species of birds, eagles, fox and whales. There is a wonderful walking path right outside the front door, and from there, are miles and miles of nature walks that can be explored. We also enjoy the functionality and diversity of the home. The house is fully stocked with everything you could need in the kitchen. There are board games, a library for adults and kids, as well as movies, music, and a full on game room. At the same time a guest could easily decide to do nothing but relax and take in the views from the hot tub or the jacuzzi in the master suite. Its ready for a family or a romantic getaway for two. The Shipping Lanes house is a home away from home... even for us and we live only 2 miles away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Amazing views from this well appointed vacation home! Every wish anticipated right down to puzzles, book, games, game tables (set-up garage) movies, music, hot tub and much more. We can't imagine not enjoying this wonderful get away place. We can certainly look forward to the next visit."

Again, we enjoyed our stay and can look forward to our next visit. Daughter and son-in-law came up from Tacoma on Saturday to have time with us and they really enjoyed the view of the water. Thanks again!

Do it! You won't regret it!

  • 5 of 5

All 5 of us loved everything about our Beeches weekend stay at the Shipping Lanes House! So peaceful and beautiful from sunrise to sunset. We spent the majority of our day on the deck gazing at the beautiful waters watching the boats and ships come and go, and watching all of the local wild life! (We saw MANY birds, eagles, a mamma and her baby fawns walked through the yard as we sat on the deck, orcas, and much more!) I highly recommend downloading the app "Marine Traffic" if you stay here. It gives you all the details on the ships passing through! We'd play a game and guess where it came from, and what it's speed was. We all highly recommend the Shipping Lanes House for your getaway or vacation. We will most definitely be back!! Thank you, Patti and Ed, for sharing your beautiful space with us!

Owner's Response: So glad you saw the whales! I understand we have a Humpback in the waters, besides the Orca's.

Everything you could need!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time to this delightful home and we were once again impressed with our host's easy communication, well appointed home, and the awesome view. Making meals is a snap - they have everything! It is the perfect spot to explore the surrounding areas - we particularly like to go to Poulsbo, and the Foulweather hike just down the road was beautiful. We saw lots of eagles and never tired of watching the ships. We bring my 91 year old father because he enjoys the views, but there is something for everyone here. Highly recommend!!

I almost don't want to rave, as I would very much like it to not be overbooked!

Great location for peace and quiet; yet in distance to everything you would want to do. Fabulous view, very clean, friendly gracious host and hostess. Caught my first salmon on the nearby public beach! Lots of conveniences in the kitchen, comfort throughout the house. We especially appreciated the robes after hot tub use, straight out of the dryer, nice and warm! I really liked not living out of a suitcase, plenty of drawers and hangers to unpack. Good mattresses and pillows, as I have scoliosis and stenosis and arthritis, really appreciated that. The local grocery store is beaucoup friendly and Albertsons is nearby. The deer that live there are a delight every day, we had a doe and her two fawns....ahhh. We had a doctor with us, on a working vacation; and she had enough space and great Wifi to do what she needed to do, the groundskeeper was the friendliest most down to earth person ever, it is just all so very nice, comfortable and friendly, we loved it.
