Saumane is a perfectly located in Provence, South of France with spectacular views, set within 2.5 acres of land with an abundance of olive trees. The perfect place for an authentic French experience in Provence, visit the famous antique shops, lavender fields and taste the wondeful Rose wine.

The Provence holiday villa is decorated and furnished to a high standard and sleeps up to 12 in 6 bedrooms, 5 of which are ensuite. The villa boasts an infinity swimming pool, which can be heated at an extra cost, so one can swim whilst admiring the fantastic views across Provence.

The garden and olive groves are set on stone built terraces, and this Provence property domaine is so large it even has it s own mini-forest of green oak trees.

Just a few minutes walk takes you to a small Provence hill-top village which one can see from the house terrace and has only 200 inhabitants. It has a small friendly bar/restaurant. Isle-sur-Sorgue , famous for its antique shops and with a huge choice of restaurants, many on the waterfront, is only about 10 minutes away and Fontaine de Vaucluse is only 5 minutes away.

The accommodation is mainly on 2 floors and is furnished with Provencal antiques.

The main entrance is via one of the terraces. There is a small stone terrace running along the house with steps going down to the garden on the right and down to the pool on the left. From the entrance, one goes directly to the ground floor hallway and living room, which is spacious and light, taking advantage of the double doors which open onto the large terrace.

The living room has a large open fireplace (ideal for the winter months) and comfortable seating. The light and airy dining room with a large table seating 10, has a Provencal stove along with double doors that open out onto the outside terrace and overlooks the pool. There are splendid plaster and wood ceilings a l ancienne .

Next to the dining room is a library-office area.

There is a children s playroom equipped with some toys, TV and DVD player. (From the children s playroom, there is a door leading down into the owner s private garage via a steep winding metal staircase, so please remember to keep this door locked). The playroom opens onto a Children s Garden. It is a flat, fenced in space, ideal for young children, on a family holiday in Provence.

The newly fitted kitchen has a modern feel and is fully equipped with doors opening onto the terrace, and a hatch into the dining room. Lovely stone sink.

There is a separate laundry room with washer/dryer.

First floor

Provencal style stairs (16 winding steps) lead up to an attractive hallway with 6 bedrooms leading off it; all are equipped with fans. The Master double bedroom with a 160 cm bed, has a large ensuite bathroom with an iron bath, a separate free-standing shower, twin hand basins and a separate wc. There is a separate twin-bedded room (bedroom 2) which is ideal for children as it does not have its own facilities and one would need to share the bathroom in the master bedroom.

Bedrooms 3,4 and 5 - have double beds and they each have a compact ensuite bathroom including a Venetian shower, wc and hand basin.

Bedroom 6 - is a twin bedroom, a single bed with a pull out making 2 singles. an ensuite bathroom with sower, wc and hand basin.

On the lower ground floor there is a shower room and wc, ideally located near the swimming pool.

(There is a jacuzzi which is not in use).

This house in Provence is great for an authentic family holiday experience in the South of France.

Outside Details

This Provence holiday property is set in a breath-taking location. The fantastic infinity swimming pool (10m x 4m) has been built into the rock face and has an overflow which cascades into a lower pool area.

The area around the private pool is beautifully landscaped with stone patio areas along with wooden decking. The pool can be heated at an extra cost and is also equipped with a cover and pool alarm.

Floodlit at night, swimming under the stars is one of the true highlights of a stay at Saumane, Provence.

The pool is partially fenced off with a low wrought iron barrier, however, if you have young children they must be surveyed at all times because the sloping rock face next to the pool is quite steep.

The main terrace leading from the kitchen and dining room is large and is perfect for dining alfresco, it is also equipped with a large gas BBQ. It is a real sun trap as it is south-west facing, and perfect to watch the exquisite sunsets,

There are various separate garden areas providing welcome shade from the South of France sun under the numerous olive trees, along with a separate children s garden next to the playroom, which is fenced-in and flat. The main grassed areas are automatically watered therefore remaining green even in the summer!

Above and behind the house rises a filigree of grassy terraces and dry stone walls, perfect for exploring (again young children and toddlers must be watched).

Below are broader areas for games, petanque and parking.

Some of the main terraces and patios surrounding the Provencal house are gated for child safety (including access to the pool, but it is not a high barrier) and one needs to take care to keep the gates shut if you have small children. (The owners of the property have young children).

On the private driveway below the house one can easily fit three cars. (The owner s private garage with her private car is left open to clients to have access to the pool-side wc and outside shower, however, they are obviously not at the client s disposal. There is also a large jacuzzi next to the garage but which again stays empty and is not in use).

Lots of interesting walks directly from the property.

Saumane de Vaucluse few minutes walk. Only 200 people live in this village, there is private Chateau and 12th century church along with a bar/restaurant. Provence golf and country club 2 minute drive.

Fontaine de Vaucluse 5 minutes drive. Picturesque Medieval village, the river Sorgue offers superb canoeing facilities.

Isle-sur-Sorgue 10 minutes drive, famous for its Antique shops (over 350 of them!) and waterwheels

Avignon 30 minutes

Marseille 45 minutes. Large city with port and international airport

Arrival & Departure

Changeover day is Saturdays. Arrival at 5pm. Depart at 10am. Late arrival (6 - 9pm) possible only by prior arrangement. Please ensure that when you buy your aeroplane ticket, the flight time will allow for arrival before 9pm at the very latest.


€200 cash on arrival, returned less deductions for any breakages on morning of departure plus GB£500 to be taken from a debit/credit card via South France Villas. Please contact SFV no later than 2 weeks before arrival date with card details. To be refunded back to the card within 10 days of departure following clearance from the owner. Regarding Extras - Pool Heating and Central Heating Charges (Winter Bookings):- If you have requested either of the above, you will also need to settle payment BEFORE your arrival by bank transfer direct to the owner.


Telephone is available on demand, but is restricted to incoming and local calls only. The amount used will be deducted from breakages deposit. Neither the Owner nor the Agent can be held responsible for interrupted internet service/slow speed or for loss/disruption of incoming signal for Satellite TV –Sky–Freesat–Apple TV etc. When applicable to the property.

Available for winter bookings - €150.00 extra per week, to be sent via bank transfer to owner before arrival.

Bed Linen & Towels

Bed Linen and Towels (including pool towels) are included in the rent. Should you require a mid stay change of linen and towels this can be provided for a supplementary cost please ask for details.


End-of-Stay cleaning charge is included and a mid-stay clean is included for 2 week bookings. Maid service during your stay may be available please ask for details. End-of-stay cleaning charge is to cover "normal" cleaning throughout the house. However, while you are therefore not expected to hoover and mop everywhere, you are expected to leave kitchen appliances (ie. oven and fridge), crockery, kitchen utensils, and bathroom appliances clean, and not to leave litter in the garden. If the house is left in an unacceptable state, further monies may be retained from the breakages deposit.


Pets are not allowed.

Party Sizes

The owner is entitled to ask you to leave the property without any refund if the number of occupants exceeds 12.


Fire: This is a region which has a high fire risk. It is forbidden to start fires anywhere in the property grounds. Only light BBQs in the area designated for this purpose. Swimming pool Safety: The owner is not responsible for any bodily injury next to or in the swimming pool. Children must be surveyed at all times. The pool can be heated from Easter to the end of October (depending on weather conditions) at an extra cost of €300.00 for the 1st week and subsequent weeks at €250.00 to be sent via bank transfer to owner before arrival. Heated pool temperatures are dependent upon external weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed. It should be noted that the condition of the pool is subject to variations in the weather and therefore no guarantee can be given to the status of the pool on any particular day. Arrival shopping and local chef service can be provided. This is a non smoking property.
