It is worth then to discover the Piacentino through its cuisine, excellent wines and typical dishes, cooked with local products as well as its valleys: discover the beauty of Val Nure, Val Trebbia, Val Tidone, Val D'Arda mix simplicity and authenticity, all just 10-15 minutes from home.
The area can be easily visited by car, where guests requiring such Alessandra can arrange transportation with trusted people on site.
Two words about the village and the castle: built in the thirteenth century on the ruins of an ancient Roman agricultural settlement, Castle Lisignano is a good example of the process, from the end of the Renaissance, has seen the transformation of the feudal castles fortress-like in country residences for noble families.
The construction is similar to an isolated fortress, surrounded by a moat with a drawbridge. During the late seventeenth century, the castle interiors have been changed for the life of the new nobility. The renovation, designed by Ferdinando Galli, also known as Bibbiena (Bologna), are found on the east side of the courtyard, covered with frescoes and architectural elements that open onto an arched courtyard, while in the south there is a small grove natural whose centerpiece is a large statue of Hercules killing the lion.
We were overjoyed when we arrived to see the lovely accommodations and the beautiful setting...The property and apartment were pristine.
It is situated in a very quiet bucolic area but the towns and villages
are nearby with lovely restaurants, churches and shops.
After a day out exploring, it was wonderful coming "home"
to such a welcoming place.
The owner, Alessandra, is everything you would expect in a person
who owned such an exceptional property... warm, friendly and helpful.
We would definitely recommend the farms of Lisignano to friends and would like to return ourselves.

We have a wonderful stay in Lisignano. The house was a same as we saw before on the picture. Full furnished and in a very good condition. The countryside was amazing, we have visited different castles, churches and small towns. We have enjoyed to drink a cappucino in the morning in the local bars in Agazzona. And we have also shopped in Fidenza and Serravalle Scrivia.
In the evening we made a small tour through Lisignano and we have spoken with the local people.
Alessandra has showed us the castle and talked with a lot of love about herbplace of birth and the very friendly people from Emalia.
Alessandra, thanks a lot and we hope to see you again one of the next years because we have to visit still different small towns.
The surrounding countryside is phenomenal but you remain close enough to Piacenza (bout 20min by car). There are loads of little towns to visit and plenty of small restaurants.
The studio itself is more then fully equipped, double beds in both rooms 2 bathrooms and a large living area/kitchen. It had just been renovated, so no wear and tear, nice and clean. Only thing that was missing was a small fan, just to cool us down in the warm Italian summer evenings as well as some screens to keep out the bugs in the evening. But that had more to do with the time of year.
Upon arrival the host was very welcoming and made us right at home.
She made us a small note with the usual (Wifi password, closest convenience store), but also recommended certain restaurants nearby. We looked in on most of em (specially the ones she had marked as Super) and we were convinced by the Italian style of dining. On her recommendation we also went to visit multiple castles nearby (be sure to check first for opening hours, as they are not always accurate on internet sites), especially the one in Rivalta (owned by a friend of the host) is worth checking out. There are small brochures and tours possible in some of the castles, but again check in advance, as it is most of the times quite the drive and to be standing at a closed gate is not your perfect holiday.
The host also helped with setting up a meeting with a local bio wine producer (great wines from luretta) and even restaurant reservations upon request.
To summarize, we had a wonderful stay of a week in this large studio and we would surely recommend it to everybody we (don't) know.
There is to much to see, not enough time to see it, but boy you will be very happy to have done it. We hope to go back some day to finish the rest of our wish to do/visit/eat list.
The Colli Piacentini are in the territory of the province of Piacenza and are crossed by four valleys with a great history.
In fact, the region is literally dotted with castles and medieval villages. The cultivation of the vine in the Colli Piacentini has a long tradition and the production of excellent wine is one of the most important features of this area. The great wines here are Gutturnio, Bonarda, Barbera with variations between the sparkling and still, between the bitter and the sweet, and a row of white, among which it is worth mentioning Ortrugo, dry Malvasia The Trebbianino, even among these there are many shades, colors and scents. The wine is associated with a very original cuisine based on local tradition and perfectly integrated with the great food culture of Emilia. The most popular dishes are the classic Piacenza ravioli with ricotta and spinach, those of pumpkin, the "pisarei and beans" first farmer-based bread dumplings and beans, "anolini" a variant of tortellini be consumed preferably in broth meat, many other types of pasta and then the second, from the classic "cup roasted" the guinea fowl, to the duck and boiled. without forgetting that this is the area of the good meats of the north, especially the salami, coppa, bacon, culaccia, wonderful especially when accompanied by the famous "Fried dumplings". The climate is mild and warm weather you can reach the Trebbia by car along the beautiful valley to Bobbio to bathe in the natural pools of the river, between the loops most beautiful, in the town of San Salvatore and along the whole stretch up to Marsaglia.
