Cabin is very nice and decorated well. Wildlife abounds, we have spotted Bear, Moose, Fox, Mountain Lions, Wolves, Deer and Elk. Hundreds of miles of breathtakingly beautiful trails to hike, cycle or dirt bike on. The wildflowers are amazing.

Baumgartner Hot Springs are a 35 minutes drive, along the way you will find some of the best FLY-FISHING in the United States or take a day and motorbike, hike, cycle to the Forest Service watch tower top of Iron Mountain. Secluded and Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Couldn't have asked for a better experience. My wife and I wanted to get our 7 month old son and two dogs out for a long weekend outing. We're avid campers. But knowing that we'd need a roof over our heads and a place for our baby boy to take quiet naps, we figured we'd give this place a shot instead. It was perfect. Jim is honestly one of the nicest individuals I've ever met. You'd be hard pressed to find such a secluded cabin so clean and in such good shape. We'll be going back for sure.

We enjoyed our time here.

We loved staying here. We hope to come back again when the river is lower and we can enjoy the beach area. Looking forward to that.

May 2017

I wanted seclusion, peace and quiet and that's what I got. Each day was a new adventure. Jim the host, was terrific to talk to occasionally and his best friend Bleu was a wonderful pet to enjoy on occasion. He was very eager to offer answers to any questions. The region around the immediate area was full of photo opportunities. I took at least a couple of hundred, with about 80 keepers. Float tube fishing in the famous Silver Creek in Picabo was a blast with plenty of fish jumping all around, just need the right fly. I found a smart guide in Hagerman, and hired him. He taught me a lot and I caught one brown trout. Saw several mule deer, many types of birds and varmints running around the cabin, and a young moose on premises half way to Jim's cabin. Highly recommend staying here.

Weather in May was cool at night but after a day or so of light rain, the area had very comfortable temps in high 60's. Sound of the raging river was awesome first thing in AM and last thing at night I'd sit on the porch and just listen. Meditation bench near water was perfect. Beaver dam can be reached by the Beaver trail near Jim's house. Worth the walk on the Beach trail too. Much good scenery traveling the roads to Salmon, Hagerman, and Sun Valley. Nice provision store 1 hour away on way into the forest. Snow capped mountains surrounding the road to and from Fairfield. Some snow falling while traveling on mountain passes, but no accumulation on roads, just beautiful to look at. Check out the hot spring for soaking tired feet.

So Much More Than You Could Know

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the River Cabin for a week August 2016. It has everything needed for a stay so you don't have to haul linens and pots. We adored Jim and his dog Bleu who are friendly, warm, hospitable and very knowledgeable of the area and what might best suit an individual's taste. The cabin is in good shape and the property is very relaxing. We ;loved Jim's trails, the water out back, destinations not far away, and the hummingbirds whizzing past our face on the back deck. Jim goes above and beyond what anyone would expect an owner to do; we came away with lovely lifetime family memories.

Beautiful Backcountry Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful cabin located in a gorgeous river valley. The cabin itself was clean and cozy, and had everything we needed. The location is simply heavenly. It's situated a stone's throw from the river, with trees all around it. My husband and I spent a week here around Labor Day with our toddler, my mom and our two dogs. We had visitors one night - 2 bull moose! They spent about an hour hanging around our cabin one evening while we watched from the window and then from the porches. What a treat! We all had an amazing time and hated to leave when the time came. Jim was the perfect host. We hope to come back again next year!

A slice of Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have rented Jims cabin over Memorial Day weekend the last two years (2014 & 2015).

This place is beyond amazing and gorgeous. We have 5 children and 2 dogs that had the best time. The cabin it self is a beatiful log cabin that is clean and has everything you need. There are two fire pits, one up front and one out back right on the river. Hiking, quads, dirt bikes, fires, river fun and realaxing, who could ask for more?! The sights are incredibly gorgeous and there are more trails than we could ride!

Jim is an amazing man and is the most gracious host you could ask for. This cabin is my familys new yearly tradition and my favorite place!
