MOOSE CROSSING is located in Mid-Coastal Maine and is part of a very unique are

This stunning home was built in 2008. It is located in the town of Prospect, which is in mid-coastal Maine, between Belfast and Bangor. Moose Crossing is Beautiful, Luxurious and very Comfortable. It was named MOOSE CROSSING because the Builder encountered a huge Bull moose when the home was under construction.Moose are in the area, as well as Bald Eagles, foxes, deer, numerous species of Birds and other kinds of wildlife.

MOOSE CROSSING is a perfect spot for people who want to experience Maine in a setting that is naturally beautiful and filled with wildlife. It is near the Penobscot Narrow Bridge, Fort Knox, Bucksport, Stockton Spring, Searsport and Bangor.Acadia Park is less than 1 hour away. Grocery stores are 15 minutes away. There are nearby Antique shops, Flea Markets, Kayak rentals, Golf and Public Beaches that are free. Maid service is available for $25.00 per hour.MOOSE CROSSING has had guests from around the world. Most of them have a wonderful time and write about it in our Guest Book.

MOOSE CROSSING sits high on a hill overlooking the Penobscot River. It is surrounded by wildflowers in the Summer months and the views are SPECTACULAR year round.Although we do not have River Access there are several Town Landings throughout the area. Autumn is a wonderful time to enjoy the area and the colors are awesome. The Hills that surround the River are ablaze.

The winter months are cold and snowy, but if you drive an SUV that is not a problem. The surrounding hills are perfect for snow shoes and cross country skiing. There is a pellet stove in the Family room that is simple to operate, creates an instant fire and heats the entire room.

The spacious Living Room has a wood stove that also heats the room. Firewood is available locally and there are plenty of pellets in the home.

The Beautiful town of Camden is just 45 minutes away. Camden is a very popular tourist spot. It is well known for its many Arts and Craft shops and for a one of a kind gallery filled with sculptures of Birds and other kinds of wildlife. Camden is famous for its Snow Bowl, which takes place during the winter months.

About Mike and Connie Kain

We are retired teachers who love to travel. We reside in Cape Cod, but we try to visit Moose Crossing during the Autumn and Summer months. It is a very special place and our Labs Bucky and Bear consider it to be their 'real' home. Bear loves to swim in our River and both dogs enjoy running in the surrounding fields and enjoying the wildlife. Bear had his first 'encounter' with a porcupine this summer and has sworn that he will never go near one again; he was quilled, poor guy!But he is fine now and looking forward to going back to the Cape with his buddies.

Mike and Connie Kain purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Mike and Connie Kain chose Maine

It is our own 'piece of Paradise' and it makes us feel happy and calm. We watch Bald Eagles fly overhead and circle the River. Occasionally deer and wild turkeys come around, and yes we have been visited by a magnificent Bull Moose!

What makes this cabin unique

Moose Crossing is in an isolated location that is very close to all that you need. It is the only home in an area that was to be custom homes and the landscape is just as it was 100 years ago, with the exception of Dish TV and wireless, and the addition of gravel roads that are easy to traverse. Nearby there are Grocery Stores, Restaurants, Antique Shops, Auction Houses and Flea Markets, Movie Theatre, Golf and much much more.

A delightful week.

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I chose this home because the photos made it look so warm and inviting. It certainly was that and more. Connie, the owner, has decorated every room carefully and cleverly, with a theme related to its wooded surroundings. It was very private, something we wanted, and somewhat isolated. I had feared that it would be too isolated but was pleased to find that that was not so. Nearby Bucksport had all of the basics that we needed: a super market, hardware store, lobster shack, ice cream store, fairly good restaurant and even walking path beside the river.

I communicated several times with Connie and she was always very nice and flexible. I felt as though I knew her by the time we left.

One warning: the cabin is air conditioned but only with window units. The living area downstairs includes wonderful two-story floor-to-ceiling windows which capture the view beautifully. However, it can get quite warm in the afternoons and the units don't really keep up. This is a problem only on unseasonably warm days.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit! Re the air conditioning there are 3 units that cool the house (and Bedrooms) and all rooms have ceiling fans. The Living Room does get sunny in the late afternoon but the AC keeps it cool. The Great Room is always cool.

Absolutely beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

The photos on this site do not do justice to the house. The house was absolutely beautiful. The living room had wonderful views over the river and a lovely wood burning fireplace. The kitchen was very well stocked and even had a slow cooker which we didn't use, but I have rarely seen one in a cabin rental. The master bedroom was beautifully decorated down to the flower arrangement on the wall and the intricate stenciling at the top of the walls. The master bathroom was a good size and I loved the fact there was a separate shower. The great room is in the lower part of the house where we watched tv in the evenings and again the furnishings and decor are lovely. The house has been decorated with care and it shows. There is a covered porch and an open deck where you could have morning coffee or an evening cocktail. We were lucky to have a bar b q one evening and viewed a lovely sunset from the deck. I loved the fact there was a gate at the end of the porch which meant the dog had freedom whilst outside and I didn't have to worry about her running off. Connie was wonderful to deal with and to be honest I can't speak highly enough about our stay.

Peace and quiet, fresh air, the beauty of nature!

  • 5 of 5

Aahhhh! We enjoyed peace and quiet, fresh air, and the

beauty of nature. The fall foliage colors were evident from all windows,

and especially from the large, wrap around deck where I sipped my

morning coffee as the mist rose off the river.

The beautiful home was exceedingly well-maintained

and clean, with all the amenities we needed, and spacious enough for our

large family (5 kids). There were plenty of places to walk and explore,

from the house and within easy driving distance. We climbed

Mt. Megunticook, and visited nearby beaches. We loved our stay, and

would highly recommend this comfortable home to other families.

great family house

  • 5 of 5

Great house for a family to share. With 3 floors there is plenty of privacy. A bathroom on each floor adds to the comfort and convenience. We saw bald eagles and a Mama deer with fawn. Very peaceful place. We went to Bar Harbor for the day and took a cruise. We would definitely stay at this house again.

Better than expected

  • 5 of 5

Everything was as is or better based on the descriptions and pictures posted by the owners. The place was clean and there were helpful instructions everywhere (and a nice binder with nearby amenities and attractions). Would stay again if we ever head back to Maine.
