About Sherri Mansell

My husband and I have 4 children ages 12 - 25 and live in South Florida. We have vacationed in western NC for over 25 years where my parents have a home.

Sherri Mansell purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Sherri Mansell chose Asheville Area

We chose this location in Black Mountain because it's a very quaint town with great restaurants and so close to the city of Asheville with airport, universities and culture events.

What makes this cabin unique

What we love best about our property is that we are located in the mountains surrounded by nature but have the luxuries of home and only 10 minutes to the grocery store and other amenities.

Great Vacation!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had the greatest time at the Preserve cabin! We loved staying there. It was so spacious it allowed us to take another family along with us. The cabin was beyond clean. It really had everything we could have asked for. The property was Awesome! We loved taking hikes along the trails on the property. I even got to relax and hangout in the hammock and read. After hiking and running around all day, the jacuzzi was a super plus! The location is perfect. Asheville was so close and there were so many fun activities around. We ended up going Zip Lining and another park for a TreeTop Adventure. The whole family had a blast and everyone participated. It is the perfect vacation for all ages. (My kids are 11, 14 and 16) We loved going to town which was 10 minutes away and we had really good meals. We loved the Ale House and they had a band playing great music, it was fun. In addition to eating out, we also enjoyed cooking in your kitchen because it has everything. I even needed a blender for one of my meals and you had it in the cabin. We really enjoyed both staying in and going out to eat. I was concerned before we got there that we would not have internet but your wifi worked perfectly so when I needed to work on my computer, I was able to get through everything quickly without problems so I could go back and enjoy my family on our vacation. It is a beautiful Cabin. It was a Great Vacation and it was because we stayed at the most perfect place! The HighRock Preserve!!!!!! We can't wait to go back!!!!

December 2009

  • 5 of 5

Our two familys (5+4) had a wonderful time. The cabin has all of the modern amenities, and the sleeping accommodations are very comfortable. The property is also really nice, especially the outdoor firepit. There are a couple of nice trails on the property - perfect for younger kids because they're not very long. If you are looking for longer/more aggressive hiking, do some research to find some local trails.

Owner's Response: We enjoy hearing that our guests had a wonderful time and enjoyed the trails on the property. If you are looking for longer trials, we recommend Chimney Rock or Montreat trails, both 20 minutes from our property as well as many others in the area.

Great cabin home!

  • 5 of 5

We recently had our family reunion in Black Mountain, and rented adjacent 3 cabin homes from Sherri. All 3 of the homes (Preserve, Meadow, and Retreat) were in excellent condition, and were well stocked with cookware, games, books/magazines and linens. We enjoyed hanging out for dinners with the whole crew at each house, both indoors and out on the decks. The Preserve and Retreat had fun game rooms for the kids/adults to gather, and the pond and horseshoe area were good meeting spots. The Retreat was the largest of the 3 homes, and has a gorgeous view of the mountains - great for big dinners out on the deck. The one drawback was the steep gravel driveway to get to the homes, and it was difficult for the older adults to walk between the houses up the hill. We came from far and wide - California, NY and Florida, and everyone truly enjoyed the homes and location!

Loved High Rock Preserve!

  • 5 of 5

Our family from Tampa, FL just stayed 4 nights in Highrock Preserve and loved it! Perfect get - away cabin; Black Mountain is a beautiful area. The cabin provide every amenity we could think of and was very clean and well maintained; ready for us to come right in!

Sherri communicated so well with us! I really appreciated her prompt replies and instructions for everything we needed to know.

The town of Black Mountain was so charming; enjoyed the shops and restaurants and friendly people.

Would love to return in the fall; I'm sure the leaves are spectacular!!!!

Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

Highrock Preserve was a perfect place for our family. Lots of windows and doors allow for a peaceful view throughout the day. there was plenty of space in the house and on the property to explore. The creek was a blast. Our family caught crawdads and salamanders, I felt like a kid. Black Mountain had a laid back feel with great food, pubs and shopping. It is a short drive to Ashville, which has amazing spirit as well. We will visit again!!!

Sunny, clean and roomy.

  • 5 of 5

I'm a big sun person so the fact that this cabin wasn't all shady was good for me! We didn't spend a lot of time there as we were back and forth to Lake Eden for wedding events. I enjoyed the huge porch and my family really liked the hot tub. Tons of room for 4 adults and a baby. It was close to Chimney Rock state park which we hiked and Black Mountain provides groceries, gas and restaurants. We also went to Montreat and Asheville which was a pretty easy commute. The only thing I was a bit surprised at was the drive up the mountain (and down!) once you got off the main road. I'm glad we had a leased car and we didn't have to find it initially after dark! The info that the owner provided in the cabin on places they had been was also very helpful. A very peaceful place that was very clean and plenty of supplies.
