This is the most exquisite area of Taos County with incredible views, privacy and space for magical gardens, and easy access to both town and Taos Ski Valley. Also, you will be sleeping at about 2000 feet lower than the ski valley, making altitude sickness less likely during your stay.

A Very 'Taos' Experience

  • 4 of 5

This home is large, beautifully landscaped and very 'Taos' in it's architectural and style. For the price the home was a good value. We had a good experience there with adults and children. Assuming decent weather, the home is well located for a ski vacation.

That said, renters should be aware that the property is a good distance off of the pavement. The dirt road was good but susceptible to weather problems.

Also, although the home is well maintained, it is a bit dated. So for example, the bath linens are new, but the bed linens need some upgrading. The carpet was well past it's prime and the furniture was well used.

Lastly, the manager and cleaning staff were very responsive and friendly. We felt like they cared about our experience and wanted things to be perfect. A pleasant experience overall.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! We strive to improve our guests' experience and due to your feedback have immediately placed new linens/comforter sets in the bedrooms. New towels were added as well. We plan to replace the carpet (which is only in bedrooms and high end wool but, yes, worn! Rest of the house has tile floors.) after the winter is over. We have often had mud/snow being tracked in and visitors spilling coffee and wine on the bedroom carpet requiring shampooing, and so we are looking for a very stain resistant brand to install. We agree that some furniture is worn, some is antique (older couch in game room, armoirs from India, vintage dining chairs from the Taos Inn, handmade authentic Taos drums), but that there is also alot of nearly new furniture throughout the home such as the high end leather chairs, Southwestern bedroom sets, Asian bedroom set, not to mention lots of original Southwestern/Indian artwork.

A Fantastic Experience!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Dragonfly house! There were nine of us and being that we are all relatives, it was great to have such a spacious and lovely home in which to spread out. Everybody, especially our sons, enjoyed the game room which was complete with ping pong and air hockey. We arrived very late in the evening, which was not recommended, but found the house in the dark and snow. A four wheel drive car or chains are a must during the snowy winter. We loved the Southwest architecture and furnishings of the home and the Kiva fireplaces were delightful. Anne was extremely helpful and patient as she answered our many questions about the house. Communication was great throughout the whole experience. We came for the skiing and the snow, but would love to see how the yard and surroundings look in warm weather too!

Owner's Response: We highly value our guests and feel that a personal connection is ideal. Vacation and family time is precious and far too limited for most of us. We are always happy to answer questions and yes, winter snow can be generous and we recommended a 4 wheel drive/SUV type vehicle in winter, no sedans or minivans. That also keeps guests safer at the ski valley and on NM highways/roads.

Excellent Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here at the beginning of summer, and it was great for the two of us (though it would certainly work for big families too - this place is huge!). We had a week here and found something different to do everyday: tour Taos art galleries, hike the forest surrounding the house, go horseback riding on Wheeler Peak. In the evenings, we'd fix a drink at the house wet bar and hang out in the Jacuzzi, barbecue on the back patio, or watch a movie on the big screen upstairs. There's an indoor atrium and I loved to have my coffee there in the morning. My boyfriend was a lot more interested in the professional stove in the kitchen and I know he had a lot of fun cooking dinner each night.

It was a completely relaxing experience. The views around the house are stunning at all times of day, and we felt hidden away from city hubbub and stress (we took frequent naps in the outdoor hammocks!). At the same time, Taos is about 30 min. away and there are neighbors within walking distance, so you're not totally cut-off if there's problem. The owner doesn't live here, but she was always reachable by cell and her housekeeper was nearby if we ever needed her. We really loved it and we're planning on coming back as soon as we can.
