The hillside location facing South gives beautiful views of wooded Gavarres hills sloping towards the sea.
Although the location is rural and peaceful the area is not remote and shops, restaurants and safe, sandy beaches are all within a ten minute drive.
The living accommodation is perfect for a party of up to six people to relax in comfort with a television system giving UK stations. There is a large balcony off the lounge for enjoying warm evenings with a sundowner. The kitchen and dining areas are large and a huge marble table is perfect for family meals (there are also two outside dining tables and chair sets) one next to the barbeque the other on a mid terrace.
The air conditioned bedrooms consist of a king and twin upstairs with fitted wardrobes, and ensuite shower rooms. Downstairs there is a double room with an en suite shower room and terrace.
The outside area has a BBQ area, a covered terrace and second large patio area and in the landscaped gardens is a 8m by 4m private heated pool surrounded by a paved area and lawns with adjacent kitchenette and toilet.
Villa has Wi-Fi broadband.
Must sat that this one of the nicest places weve stayed on holiday. So relaxing. Lots of spaces for two families to use without getting on top of each other. The boys have practically live in the pooll. Weve enjoyed the shaded terrace and bbq (apart from the mosquitos who really enjoyed us but it had rained) Recommendations: go to Vins i Licors in Palafrugell near Esclat to stock up on amazing wines and fab selection of spirits (including Welsh gin) Croissanteria de Llafranc – for baguettes and fab pastries. ‘Tragamar’ in Calella, right on Canadell beach is brill for a drink or picapica/tapas or a dinner (pricey but worth it for the spot) But most of all recommend making most of the peace and quiet of Casa Galesa and chilling out. Enjoy! And thanks. Ps Welsh TV was a bonus. Diolch yn fawr!
The villa is well appointed, lovely seating areas outside with large terrace and barbeque. We really enjoyed our visit, the pool has a poolside house with its own fridge for drinks to stay cold and a toilet separately which is very useful with small children. The gardens are very private and the quiet estate so we will be back for more.
Beautiful villa, stunning views which photos don't do justice too. Outdoor space amazing. Had a fantastic 10 night stay here last August, the villa is within 10 mins drive of beaches, supermarkets and a couple of town centres. Jenny is the most lovely manager you will find and made our stay very comfortable. We booked villa for 2 adults and 4 children and all had a great time here. Would highly recommend.
Casa Galesa is the perfect location whether you are looking for a family holiday or a get away with friends. My 2 brothers and I booked for a 1 week break, for a cycling holiday as we'd heard great things about the area. The location surpassed our expectations, situated at the foot of the mountains it was perfect for long challenging rides, the roads were like race tracks and the scenery in Catalan region was beautiful. The villa was also perfectly located to enjoy the beautiful coastline a 5 minute ride away (I recommend the drive/cycle from Palamos to Tossa De Mar, breath taking). Here you can find some amazing restaurants and tapas bars where the food is remarkably cheap considering the quality. One day we visited the Palamos fish market and local butchers and then cooked our fresh food on the coal BBQ while admiring the stunning views Casa Galesa offers.
The House itself is home from home with bundles of space and with everything included to allow you to unwind in comfort. The kitchen has all the mod cons and the bedrooms are spacious, comfortable (plenty of storage) and all rooms are equipped with on suites, finished to a high standard. Window shutters allow complete darkness if required. The living area allowed us to relax each day after 100 + miles of cycling. The television allows to accesses all your favourite channels via English Sky or you can just sit on the balcony and enjoy a beer and watch the sun set.
The swimming pool area, is located down the steps from the house but the owners have thought of everything and a bathroom area and changing facility also provides a fridge allowing you to store cold drinks without the need to walk up to the Villa. The pool was spotless with sufficient sun loungers and an outside shower. There are neighbours either side of the Villa but due to the size of the garden and surrounding trees you have complete privacy.
Parking is on street but the road is extremely quiet and there is lots of space for a number of cars.
Overall, our stay was faultless and we enjoyed every second in a stunning part of the world and we will definitely be returning next year, maybe with our wives but still with the bikes in tow!
Fabulous villa and perfect for our requirements. Our three little ones loved the pool (heated to a comfortable temperature) but they did need constant supervision as the pool is 20 steps down from the villa. There is a cabin with a fridge and toilet to meet their little needs close by the pool with plenty of shade. All in all this was perfect for our family. Calonge and district provided beaches, restaurants, walks and entertainment on all those occasions when we felt we should have a change from the villa environment. As we had the children we did not want to eat out every evening. The BBQ on the terrace overlooking the mountains was a great alternative. We have left with some fantastic memories that we will treasure forever.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Galesa during the first week of July 2010! John, the caretaker, was a wonderful help-we got a bit lost trying to find the house and he took the time out of his Friday night to help meet us to guide us to the villa! The 4 bedroom, 4 bath villa was well appointed, clean and had a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and even a glimpse of the ocean in the distance. The many stone terraces that surround the pool allowed ample room to relax and enjoy the scenery-though small children would have to be attended to, due to the many steps leading down to the pool area and other patios. We used the villa as our starting point each day and headed to the many historic towns to shop and enjoy the local cuisine. The coast is only minutes away, so we explored the popular beach towns and rented a boat in a local village to explore the coast on our own. It is such a beautiful area-the views have stayed with us even now that we have been back in the States for a few months already! We will definitely be back to Casa Galesa in the near future!!
We have stayed at Casa Galesa two years running, 3 weeks this August and enjoyed our time immensely. The house is very clean and well maintained and furnished to a good standard. It stands high on a quiet hillside overlooking a pine clad valley with distant views to the sea. The upstairs was extended this year to give each bedroom its own bathroom. The views from upstairs over the valley are breathtaking. There is plenty of cupboard and drawer space in each bedroom. The kitchen is surprisingly well equipped for those like us who enjoy cooking and the outside built in charcoal barbecue is easy to use and especially good for the local fresh fish. The pool is south facing and sparklingly clean and has a new cabin with changing facilities and fridge. It is accessed by a steep flight of steps down from the house. This may be difficult for older people but no problem for children as long as you go with them and keep the gate closed. You need a car as It is a 7 minute drive to the nearest supermarket which was well stocked with a good fish counter and bakery. Larger alternatives are in the nearby towns. The villa is taken care of by the delightful John and Mary who are a mine of information and very helpful. We found good beaches to the north and south of Calonge that the children loved. There are numerous nearby towns and villages to explore from the noisy Platja D'aro to the beautifully preserved Pals and Peratallada. By the sea at nigh time try Calella and Lla Franc.
Casa Galesa is located on Vizcondado de Cabanyes a prestigious development of individually designed detached villas. It is an ideal location as it combines peace and tranquillity with easy access to local safe and sandy beaches. Those who so desire will also find up market shops, restaurants and night life in the local towns of Palamos and Platja D'Aro.
Golfers will be delighted by an abundance of excellent golf courses in the immediate vicinity. As will cyclists and walkers who seek and area full of designated cycle and walking tracks.
