Really enjoyed our stay. Well suited for a short break.

Cosy bolthole with fine view of the broads from upstairs living space. Stairs a bit steep but we got used to them quickly. Very well situated in a lovely village and short walk to the local pub. Would book again for a short break in the Broads.

Lovely relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely 4 night stay in the boat house. It is a beautiful unique space and in a great location to explore the surrounding areas. We enjoyed the hot tub for our stay, which was especially lovely when the church bells were ringing one night.

Recommend going to Winterton-On-Sea for the best fish and chips and Horsey beach to see all the seals.

Thank you very much Jane for a great holiday.

Jade, Mike and Mabel.

Perfect for couples and fantastic value for money.

  • 5 of 5

Really lovely property - very comfortable and homely. Incredibly comfortable bed - slept like a baby except for one morning we were awoken by the boiler (we turned it off, simple fix).

Excellent amenities - worth noting there is a lack of a cooker although they do provide a small portable stove. This is fine for us because we're lazy and eat out every night anyway! Wifi is great which is perfect because the phone service is non existent and millennials like ourselves cannot navigate without google maps.

Superb location - not too far to travel anywhere. Lots of good walks right by the property including a nature reserve literal seconds from the door. Plenty of local pubs serving great beer and food including one practically on the doorstep.

Jane was a fantastic host who made us feel at home and ensured we were very comfortable.

We'd love to visit again - hope we're welcome back!

Why Jane Wilson chose Norwich

Amongst the many things that make living here special, are waking up to the sunshine with the mist hanging over the broad (with the boom of the bittern in the distance if you are lucky!), listening to the owls hooting late at night and drifting along the river on a boat. There is so much to see and do here, not only in the village but also in the rest of the Broads. We are also close to many beaches and Norwich is only half an hour away with it's wonderful shops and museums.

Ranworth is a beautiful village in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. There is a nature reserve in the village which has a thatched visitor centre on stilts at the end of a boardwalk which overlooks Ranworth Broad. From here you can take wildlife trips on the Norfolk Wildlife Trust boat. There are a huge array of birds and wildlife to observe and listen to here. The rare swallowtail butterfly can often be seen in the garden. Ranworth church which you can see from the property is known as the 'Cathedral of the Broads'. Climb up to the top of the tower and enjoy wonderful views of the village and views all the way across to the coast. The church is known for it's beautiful rood screen and antiphoner, it is well worth a visit. There is also a cafe here. A few minutes walk from the accommodation is the staithe which is host to the many boats which visit the village. Here you will find the pub, the shop and a cafe. It's a great spot to have a meal or a drink and watch the world go by. There are walks in the area and you may also like to visit the nearby Fairhaven Woodland and Water Gardens, which comprises of 53 hectares (131 acres) of beautiful ancient woodland, water gardens and a private broad at South Walsham.
