Early autumn family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We gathered from New York, Zurich, Williamsburg and Charlotte for a too-short family reunion in October 2008. The lodge is spacious and easily accomodated our group of 7 adults and 3 children. It felt like staying in an HGTV Dream House! The fun "cabin" decor, modern amenities and comfortable style were a pleasure. The 180 degree panoramic mountain views were the best - and we, too, loved the outdoor fireplace, where we gathered for morning coffee, brats on the grill at lunch, and drinks in the evening. A highlight was dinner on Saturday night, where the family gathered around the very large dining table for beef tenderloin steaks from the grill. Wish we could have stayed longer! We clocked the trip at about 70 miles from the Charlotte airport.

We really liked the home but, there were a few things that would have made it more enjoyable.

  • 3 of 5

When calling the “care taker” she was very rude. We called to ask for more towels, but she told us the owner provides 8 towels and that is it! I found that odd since the cabin sleeps up to 10. We had a couple of extra family members visit and everyone was traveling from out of state so this was a huge inconvenience. There is no place to hang your coats....no hangers in any of the closets which we thought was odd. There was supposed to be washer detergent and dryer sheets in the laundry room but there wasn’t any. We had to buy our own wood for the outdoor fireplace. The home is nice and is very nicely decorated. I would consider staying again for a long weekend.

Peaceful and Relaxing Vacay!

  • 5 of 5

We traveled all the way from FL and were so ready to get away from it all. This cabin fit the bill for all 9 of us. Beautiful setting in a quiet and peaceful community. The view from the cabin was spectacular even with the rainy afternoon/evenings. The cabin was perfect for the family with plenty of things to do to keep us entertained. Our only slight concern were the bees that gathered around the overhead picture window in the dining room. All ended well, though. They seemed to be just as content as we were in this cabin in the woods. They simply huddled close together and ignored us five adults, four grand children, the gathering of the family meals, and the noisy board games that were played right under them.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cabin to any who are looking for a place to get away from it all, because, you definitely will be! Forrest City being at least 30 minutes away. Secluded, beautiful scenery, quiet, & relaxing! A great way to spend a vacation!

Thanks for sharing this home away from home opportunity! We loved it!

God Bless!

Sarah
