This newly refurbished 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom is on ground floor - easy access and just steps to the beach and saltwater pool, yet still very safe, quiet and private. Master bedroom King Bed is a new (Oct 2013) memory foam mattress. Queen sofa bed in living room. Unit is Approx 700 square feet. Sorry, unit not suitable for children. MAX OCCUPANCY is 2

About Cathie Becker

Picture of us in Kona on our wedding day (Summer Solstice, 2013). I purchased the property with a friend in 2002 but now John and I have full ownership. We currently live in Corvallis, Oregon, where I work as a teacher and John is retired. Any free time is spent in Lake Tahoe, where I spent most of my adult life, or in Kona. While in Kona, and when not attending to the fix-it list, we spend most of our time bicycling, golfing, snorkeling, exploring out-of-the-way snorkeling spots and preparing fabulous meals for oceanfront dining with our friends.

I love our private beach. There's nothing like getting up early and sitting on the sea wall with a cup of coffee and binoculars..watching for the whales and dolphins. Of course, in the evening it's the same thing, to watch the sunset, only it's a Mai Tai!

I spent 10 days in this lovely condo! The property is lush and beautiful, it's close enough to town to stroll to dinner. The best part was that I could relax on the beach or lanai with my book, or I could go and socialize with owners and guests - you could never feel lonely here, yet you have all the privacy in the world! The condo is very well stocked - even including beach towels and a boogie board! Thank you so much Diane for providing me a quiet, relaxing vacation!

Perfect time

My husband and I spent 6 wonderful days here and don't regret the decision to choose this condo as our Kona, Hawaii get away.

We found everything we could ever need to make our time here as easy and comfortable as possible. Everything you could ever need to make a great meal was right there and handy in the well equipped kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and we were able to adjust to the change quickly.

I loved having our breakfasts out on the Lanai every morning and then stroll through the gardens with my morning coffee and checking out the beach. It was always a very quiet and restful time.

The owners provided lots of helpful information and suggestions to make the most of our vacation. They were always readily available for us via email or phone if we had any questions or requests.

We loved the sound of the ocean as it lulled us to sleep every night.

The pools and beach at Casa de Emdeko were a pleasure to come back to each day of exploring. Everyone we met there were most kind and helpful to us.

It definitely is a place I would want to come back to if I come back to the Kona area of Hawaii again and would recommend it to others that are looking to find a place with all the comforts of home plus all the stuff that makes a Hawaiian vacation memorable. Aloha and Mahalo!

The condo and Casa de Emdeko were beautifully maintained properties and excellent location.

My wife and I spent 10 days in the first floor one bedroom condo in Kailua-Kona. It's about 2 miles south of Kailua and about 3 miles from Keeauhou. It's really a quiet location with two pools. The salt water pool is right on the lava rock coastline and a beautiful way to watch a sunset or relax during the day. The condo is well maintained and the bed is very comfortable. The condo is perfect for a couple or possibly a couple with small children, but you'd have to use the hide a bed from the couch. The grounds are well maintained and the little porch is great for eating a meal or having an evening drink. You are about 6 units from the ocean which is good because the waves were quite strong and loud, but being a little bit off the ocean muffled the sound at night.

Cathie Becker is a great owner and easy to work with. Her communications were always timely and helped us through each step of the way.

You will definitely need a rental car since you are about 2 miles from town and the road is busy. You never hear the road because it's blocked by a small commercial/deli building on the road. The people who live in the complex are very friendly and helpful. The three bar-b-ques were great for cooking at night. There is even coffee in the morning at the patio for you to enjoy while sitting out there.

There were plenty of good restaurants in Kailua. Huggos on the Rocks has a nice view right on the water. All the food was good at the restaurants in town and prices were fairly reasonable. We spent most of our days snorkeling in the clear waters with a short drive. Two Step near the City of Refuge about 40 minutes south was the best spot. There's a beach park 3 miles south of the condo which is a good public area. We took the Four Winds to Captain Cook's Bay for snorkeling, but the people using kayaks also looked like they were having fun there. It depends on what you want. We heard Manta Rays at night snorkeling is awesome near the Sheraton. We didn't do it, but people said it was really good. The Kona Brewing Company tour and restaurant is good for lunch. Plenty of choices. There's a Safeway and Costco to shop at in Kailua as well. If you go to the volcanoes, it's about a 3 hour drive from Kailua. We went to Hilo after the volcanoes and spent the night there. We returned coming around the rest of the island the next day. It was worth the money to do it this way.

We highly recommend this condo, It was a great trip.

Great condo

This unit exceded our expectations for a condo in Hawaii. The unit was well-equiped with quality linens, kitchen tools and utensils (pots, pans, bowls,etc.)..perfect for those who like to cook while on vacation.The pantry was well-stocked when we arrived. Barbecue area is a friendly gathering place while cooking and sipping on a cocktail. The bed is very comfortable. Owners respond quickly to all calls and take pride in their unit. We will return soon.

Excellent Kona Condo

We stayed in the condo for 5 weeks January through the beginning of February and loved every minute of it. The condo is in a very convenient location- far enough away from the main part of town to be quiet, but just a short drive or easy walk into town. It is a very nice size for 2 people. The bed was extremely comfy, the kitchen well stocked,pleasantly decorated and everything was clean. It was so convenient to have the washer/drier in the suite, and we found the printer to be equally useful since we had some family matters to deal with while we were away. Thanks so much for having the printer there! There was a handy little cooler which we used to take to the beach, and lots of extra beach towels, beach chairs etc. The condo is on the ground floor, which is handy for suitcases, groceries and getting back and forth to the pools and barbecue area. We also enjoyed the small sandy beach area, complete with palm trees, sunsets and whale watching. The condo manager was easy to deal with and friendly as were the owners. At night, if you open the bedroom windows, you can hear the surf, which is a very pleasant addition! As mentioned by others, it is on the south side so the lanai stays shady in the afternoon and the condo doesn't heat up. We also found having the lock box on the door very convenient as we didn't have to remember to take a house key! There were many other Canadians there while we were there so it was nice to touch base with others from home while we were away. This is our 3rd time to Kona, but first time in this condo, but we will not hesitate to return there again!

When we purchased the condo, I wasn't sure about a first floor unit but now I am delighted with the added convenience of easy access. We try to have plenty of beach gear available so you can easily plan beach trips and explore the island (that's what we like to do).

Great condo - convenient location

Everything about our stay was excellent. The condo was clean, and had everything we needed, including a washer and drier. We also liked the location of the condo - on the ground floor and near the ocean so it was easy to get to the salt water pool and the barbecue area. An added bonus - we could see the sunsets from the lanai. It is also on the south side so doesn't get the hot direct sun. The owners were very easy to deal with. The location is quite convenient - only a short drive into town and fairly close to an excellent snorkeling beach.
