Lattice House is the ultimate tropical villa. Set in a 60 acre private reserve, 3 minutes above beautiful Playa Hermosa, surrounded by jungle, you will enjoy spectacular ocean views from every room, the decks, and the infinity pool.

Enjoy its unique Bali modern architecture, and custom-designed finishes and furnishings, all imported from Bali. Lattice House was built and has been lovingly maintained as my home, and you will feel as though it is your own private paradise for your stay.

You will have an onsite manager/concierge and an onsite chef to take care of your ground transportation, activities, catered meals, and restaurant reservations, so that you can spend all your time just relaxing and enjoying your stay.

Lattice House is conveniently located half-way between Dominical and Uvita, right off the coast highway. You won’t have to spend your valuable vacation time driving up and down mountain roads to enjoy incredible views and privacy. The reserve encompasses large park-like spaces, orchards, and jungle, with trails leading to numerous streams and waterfalls. In any direction, you see only white water coastline, mountains, or rain forest. On any given day, you may see and hear howler and white-face monkeys, coaties, tayras, agouties, sloths, toucans, aracaries, hummingbirds, parrots, and dozens of other bird species, all from the house decks.

Lattice House is a spectacular place, and I am happy to share it with our guests.

The master king bedroom, one queen bedroom and two full baths are on the main level; two bedrooms (one queen, two twins or one king) and a full bath are on the lower level. There are two sofas in the living room that can be used as additional beds.

Lattice House has all the amenities you expect in a luxury home and much more: partially covered total infinity pool with heated jacuzzi; four covered patios and decks; air conditioning in all the bedrooms; slate and marble floors and bathrooms; lattice work and hardwoods from Bali; outdoor master bath with copper soaking tub; lower floor walk-in outdoor shower; copper and stone sinks; fully equipped, stainless steel kitchen; beautiful furnishings, artwork and accessories.

Lattice House is a unique house in a very special property. We look forward to sharing our piece of paradise with you.

About Patricia (Pat) Williamson

My late husband and I purchased the property in 2000, and finished our retirement home in 2007. We loved the whole 3 year process of working with the Costa Rican and Balinese architects and designers and overseeing the building of our dream home. We originally planned to live there full-time, but that was before 15 grandchildren came along, and we decided to split time between Costa Rica and Houston/Galveston. Unfortunately, he did not live long after Lattice House was completed, and I decided to spend more time at my home in Galveston, near family and friends, and to share my home in Costa Rica with others who will love it as much as I do. I still get to spend about 3 months a year there--mostly in the summer when I can escape the Texas heat! I have wonderful friends there and treasure every minute I am there. We have wonderful times---hiking, swimming, boogie boarding, bird watching, and sharing wonder meals at home and in local restaurants. The picture is from a dinner at Lattice House on my trip last summer--me in the middle rear, surrounded by some of my closest Costa Rican friends who are fortunate to be full-timers, and Michael McCoy, second from the right front, from Bali, who was the primary designer and who continues to send new furnishings. Since that picture, he has had made for me beautiful new coconut dining chairs. Lattice House and Reserva de Achiote are my love, and all the rental income goes to its upkeep and improvement.

Why Patricia (Pat) Williamson chose Dominicalito

My husband and I wanted to retire to the tropics and in the early 90's started looking in Costa Rica. We loved the idea that it was so democratic and had no army. The first place we visited in 1993 was Dominical, but at that time there was no paved road from Jaco, and we decided it was just too remote for our later years. We looked all over CR, and by the time we decided no place was as beautiful as the southern Pacific coast, the road had been paved to Quepos and there were a few crucial amenities. We spent 3 years looking at property and finally in 2000 found Achiote, the most beautiful, accessible, and private property in the area. I retired in 2005, and the next day we were on a plane to our paradise.

Just Magical

  • 5 of 5

My hubby and I booked Lattice House for my 40th. We were tired of the long haul flights to far fetched corners of the world but still wanted to emerse ourselves in the adventures only new cultures can provide. We wanted to be self sufficient and are hopelessly over the resort nonsense.

Lattice House answered all our expectations and then some. We had adventure, seclusion, relaxation and luxury in one bundle and for exceptional value.

We chose to drive our rental after landing in San Jose, and Ana was amazing. She kept tabs on us in case we got lost but I have to say our app Waze got us right to the front door no problem.

For my birthday Ana and hubby secretly arranged the most rich and moist chocolate cake extravaganza and Alexandria cooked a spectacular dinner for us at the house. One of my fondest memories is watching the sunset over Wales Tale, exotic trees mirrored over the pool, the Tucans singing a ruckus, and Alexandria cooking with so much love and passion for us to enjoy.

The ocean is fierce, the pool cooling, the private waterfall invigorating, the pre-dawn jungle teeming with activity and excitement, the house luxurious with a hint of Bali style glamping at its most spectacular, and the care and welcome you get from Ana and her team is so warming.

We really did not feel the need to leave the house, except for early morning hikes along the beach, and Sushi Beer/wine runs into town.

Lattice House allows you to morph back into nature and peace in the best of ways. I loved the Orchard especially. From a glorious poolside vantage point I remember seeing everything we needed for lunch and promptly marching off over the emulate bouncy grass lawn to collect advocados, limes and pineapple.

I cannot thank Ana enough! We really did not need much but the fact she was there for us if we did made all the difference. What a wonderful gift to past and future visitors, that Pat has opened her beautiful property to us adventure seekers, relaxation dreamers, and nature lovers alike, to fall in love with. I cannot recommend Lattice House and the team highly enough, simply magical!

Owner's Response: I normally do not respond to reviews, preferring to let them stand on their own, but this review gives me the opportunity to say how much joy it has brought me to share Lattice House with guests like you who have felt the magic and have fallen in love with the property as my late husband and I did. Thank you for your wonderful comments about Lattice and especially about my wonderful staff. You have captured the beauty of both.

so fantastic it made me cry!

This is going to take awhile.....I have so much to say about this stunning property. Following the homeowners very specific directions, you come upon the driveway into the property and it looks hidden and non descript. You turn off the coastal road and enter the property through a simple gate.......then you're eyes start to buldge because you can't believe this is where you have come to stay. A beautiful upward curving manicured tropical drive is lined with palm trees. This goes on for a good half of a mile as you ascend the reserve-like (I think it is a reserve - 50 acers) property. Then you see the house. Wow. I said to myself, "All my hard work in finding the perfect house for the perfect family vacation (my parents included) and I DID IT!" The house is soooo perfect. The photos say it all. It should be in architectural digest (remember David Bowie's house in Bali - this is as close as you'll come to it without traveling over the pacific). The views are stunning and dramatic. This is a great location for a photo shoot. I am an architectural designer and this was nirvana! I took soooo many pictures and hope to put them up on this site if there is a way to share them. Stop your search, I have done it for you (40 hours of house hunting - no kidding!) This is the place for you! The house itself is peaceful and secluded. Several mornings I woke up early and hiked up behind the house into the ancient forest to discover tree frogs, monkeys and toucans The dining is great in the dominical area and grocery shopping is 10 mins down the road. The caretakers are very enthusiastic and a wealth of information. Dominical is the place to go because it is still the unspoiled true Costa Rica. This may be over the top as far as a review but when you have a vacation this great after putting in so much time and energy you feel like you've won the Oscar for travel planning.

The small print: I am in no way related to or knew the homeowners when I booked this house. I just loved it in the photos and made the contact!

A little slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Incredible place, the staff, the house and the property all summarize together to give you a little slice of heaven. First off, you can’t get better value for your money then staying at this place. The location is ideal, our family vacation consisted of horse back riding (20 min drive), zip lining (40 min drive), white water rafting (15 min drive), plus hiking to the on-site waterfall (40 min hike “one-way”). This place has it all, the staff is helpful and extremely good at what they do! Let them cook for you! Lay back and leave your troubles behind. This is absolutely the place to stay when visiting Costa Rica!! Thank you...

Look No Further

My husband arranged a vacation for seven family members this past August. We had never traveled to Costa Rica, but the minute we chose the Lattice House, we were taken care of. The house manager, Ana, will be the first to contact you upon choosing this house. (By the way, we spent several hours on several sites, finding the perfect place to stay. Save some time and energy, and add Lattice House to your top three choices right now) She sent all the info you will need for your entire stay and made all the arrangements.

Upon arriving at the house, Ana was there to greet us and show us around. From the minute we stepped through the doors, we knew we were in for a great time. Clean, with a great floor plan, at the top of private property, surrounded by perfectly manicured grounds and natural beauty. We all loved the outdoor showers!! And I don't suppose I have to mention the pool. We spent hours in it, everyday, even when it rained. Take advantage of Alexandra. She will come to the house with her husband and prepare delicious Costa Rican food! One evening, we enjoyed a bonfire, just steps away from the pool. The wood was already in place and ready to go.

We experienced three excursions while we were there. Rafting tour to Savegre River is a must! One of our favorite memories is the fresh salsa/fruit spread prepared by the guides which we devoured next to an amazing waterfall. The rafting is challenging, but we always felt safe. Osa Canopy Zip line tour . . . also a must. Very challenging, but oh so fun. Don't pass up the Tarzan swing at the end. Horseback riding to Nauyaca Waterfalls was the third. Honestly, the ride was a little scary at times. The ground was steep and muddy, but we came through unscathed. Halfway through the ride, you stop for lunch. While enjoying your meal, you'll see monkeys and beautiful birds. At the end of the trail is the real reward . . . the falls. Most amazing set of falls we saw our entire trip. You can swim, and jump off a cliff, if you dare, or you can just sit and relax.

Thank you to the homeowner, Pat, for opening your home for others to enjoy. Thank you, Ana, for making our vacation seamless.

There was only one downfall during our stay . . . it went too quickly.

Unbeliebable house. Stunning!!

  • 5 of 5

I do not need to duplicate all the excellent reviews but will say the reviews don't do this house justice. My wife and I are very picky travelers and this house gave us everything and more. Once in a lifetime experience.

Two things you should know: Bugs galore and geckos in and out of the house constantly. If you do not like bugs do not go to Costa Rica.

If you are expecting a hustle and bustling city do not go to Dominical.

More of a surfing towns around this area and 3 hours from San Jose airport.

If you want to some peace and quiet away from a city this is your house.

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

This was hands down the best vacation we have ever done. Just when I thought we would never have topped last year’s vacation in Hawaii! Besides the house being just incredible there was so much to do. What really made it special was the help we had from Ana planning everything. She literally was like our personal concierge. Within a few weeks of our arrival she emailed me our entire Itinerary with times, dates, directions, etc. She saved us so much time we were able to do so much. And the food was amazing. We went out to eat a couple nights but the best meals were made by Alexandra and her staff right there at the house. We didn’t have to clean up or anything. We were able to spend such quality time with everyone. My mom and dad were just in awe.

All bedrooms were super comfortable and A/C’s worked great. Square footage was more than enough and each bedroom has their own bathroom. They have a safe closet we were able to lock up valuables when we left the house however never once did we feel unsafe. We were there in August so it was rainy season. But it made for such a cool experience. It did rain for at least a little bit every single day but we never got rained out of any activity. And we did just about everything. Surfing, zip lines, atv tours, horseback riding to waterfalls that we jumped off, and fishing charter. We even made a fire at the pit a couple nights and did smores with the my daughter. She was in heaven.

We heard the howler monkeys a couple of the mornings but 1 morning they were literally right outside the house. We could see them up in the trees which was just so cool. The driveway up you would always see the wild pigs on the way up.

. The landscape and yard are manicured extremely well. If your into photography then you will have hit the jackpot here. You will absolutely catch some amazing shots. The Toucans fly around the same spot right outside the house every single day almost at the same time in the afternoon. Everything we did was also very close by. We never drove more than 30 or so minutes to anything. Grocery store and what not was less than 10 minutes away along with all kinds of restaurants and shops. The location here was just perfect for everything we had going on.

I highly recommend

1. Osa canopy tours for zip line.

2. Diamante tours for ATV

3. Nauyaca Falls Horseback tour.

So hats off to owner Pat, and her staff. They made this an unforgettable trip. This house is a home run so if your hesitating don't.
