Well, We finally did it. The great remodel of 2015 is completed and ready to enjoy just in time for the 2015 summer season. We took the beach house from the 50's and brought it into the new century. Torn down to studs, everything is brand new with all of the great upgrades including quartzite counter-tops, all new appliances, new cabinets throughout, solid wood doors, cool flooring, awesome lighting fixtures, ETC.
My favorite place is the large covered deck overlooking the ocean. You can hear the sounds, smell the mist and enjoy the views of this one of a kind California Cove called Avila Beach. If you have been here before, you will not believe the transformation. Super clean and comfortable for up to 6 people.
We are only a few blocks from all of the Avila downtown action, yet we are still out of the crowds and commotion. Great for relaxing when you want to chill at the house, but still only a short walk to the beach, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and ice cream shops.
We offer two off-street parking spots which is critical on most every weekend.
From the downstairs master bedroom there is a courtyard under the ocean side deck, ideal for relaxing and taking in a good read.
If you are looking for a great stay in 4 star quality, our beach house is the place to be. Should you have any questions feel free to contact me anytime.
My family and I first fell in Love with Avila Beach in the Mid 90's when we moved to San Luis Obispo County. We always wanted to be a part of Avila, but it was so hard own anything as there are so few properties worth buying in our price range. Our friend was living in this one and the Landlord called him up informing him she was going to sell. He called me and the rest is history.
Mario purchased this house in 2006
I think it has everything a beach house should. Great character when you are there and only 1 short block to the sand when you want to enjoy the beach. Your in the action but out of the action at the same time.
Only complaint is the bed configuration. We had a family of 4 with 2 teenage kids trying to sleep in a queen size bed. not a big deal but bigger beds would be nice.
Stayed here for a week, taking a family vacation with our 2 year old and newborn. Like somebody previously said, the pictures really don't do it justice. The remodel was very well done, everything was very clean and nicely furnished. Spacious bathrooms, quite comfy beds, and TONS of outlets. It's the first time in my life that I haven't had to unplug something to plug something else in. Had quite a few nice afternoons on the deck in the rocking chairs with our newborn, while the big sister napped downstairs. Easy walk to the downtown/beach area, but is a bit of a hill on the way back. Good way to for the kids to burn off any last bits of energy before getting to the house. The only downside would be the neighbors just outside the back deck smoked quite frequently, so there wasn't a lot of privacy if you wanted to keep the doors & blinds open to enjoy the ocean views. It wasn't a problem for us as they were quiet, kept to themselves, and we spent most of our time at the beach or park anyways. Would definitely rent this house again, and hopefully get to come back again next year!
We were here for my son's wedding. There are 6 adults and my little granddaughter. Even though I saw pictures of the rental before arrival but seeing it in person was absolutely breathtaking. The view and sound of the ocean was captivating! I could sit on the deck all night just listening to the wonderful sound of the ocean and feeling the ocean breeze. Although there are houses in close proximity; but it was very quiet at night. I brought along my dad who is in his 80's and it was easy for him to get up and down the stairs and he sat on the deck most of the time having the best time of his life!
The owner Mario called as soon as it was available to check in so we actually got in at 3 instead of 4, which was really wonderful since we got in town early and was kind of tired from driving.
The house has 3 parking spaces (not street parking). Most of us were able to walk down to the beach and Front Street without any problems but walking back up was hard for my elderly parents so my husband or my son would walk back up and get the car, drive down to pick them up not having to worry about looking for parking.
There are ample furnishings and utensils in the kitchen. Bathrooms were beautiful. When I expressed that I was a little concern about sheets and not enough towels, Mario was over within half an hour bringing us extra linens. It was easy to contact him with any concerns. I can tell he has a great personality and is easy to get along with.
The only thing is we didn't know how to use the washer/dryer combo but it was our problem. I would advise putting directions on the brand new appliance so it is more user friendly.
Overall, it was a great stay with excellent location.
Thank you Mario for sharing your beautiful beach house with us. It is probably the best vacation rental I've stayed in.
We will definitely rent it again if we are in the area.
We had a most enjoyable stay at this newly remodeled home! The view and all the amenities were lovely. The living space was especially impressive with the large, open kitchen looking onto the sitting area and dining table. We used the deck to both lounge and dine. Having parking available is a huge plus in Avila! Will definitely stay again on our next visit. Thank you Mario!
When it was time to go home we didn't want to leave! Of course, that's usually the case when we leave Avila (as we have vacationed here for over a decade now) but we've never had a more comfortable and relaxing stay as we did in Mario's beach house. The home is tucked back from the street with ample parking and a spacious front deck. The inside of the home was beautiful and spotless when we arrived and we were thrilled to find a large open kitchen/eating area and family room ALL with a view to the beach. Initially we were a little turned off by the close proximity of the apts./condos (?) directly behind the home, but for no good reason really. Once we settled in and got down to business, i.e. snacking and drinking wine on the back deck while enjoying the whale show (!) out in the ocean, any uptightness about neighbors was forgotten for the rest of our stay. Our 3 kids, ages 2, 10 and 11 LOVED having their "own" patio to play on downstairs. Actually we all loved that. Trekking down to the beach and shops was a snap; glad we had the stroller as the steep hill would've been tough for the 2 yr. old to negotiate. We spent two days on the beach and it was no problem to hike back up to the house for snacks, naptime, etc... I timed it at <4 minutes one-way. Loved tasting wine at Avila Roasting Company and Peloton! Can't wait to come back and stay in the beach house. Thanks, Mario, for your dedication to making our stay as awesome as possible: from our first inquiry to the prompt return of our security deposit, all stipulations were clearly stated and handled with professionalism.
The weather cooperated and we had a super 4 day weekend at this home. The owner is very helpful, and you have everything you need. EZ walk into town or beach and a gorgeous view of Avila. I'd like to spend a month here....someday :)
