Humacao Villa Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, best beach in Palmas, best reviews in Crescent Co

Exquisitely decorated, 2013 sq. ft., beachfront villa in the Crescent Cove complex in Palmas Del Mar, 200 yards from 2 miles of unspoiled, impeccably-maintained beaches.

Ensuite bathrooms in every bedroom provide for your and your traveling companions' privacy and convenience. With thousands of dollars in locally made, artisan-crafted rattan furniture, many original oils, giclées and serigraphs on the walls and maintained to a very high standard, this villa really is a second home, and our many guest reviews attest to that. Indeed, the two largest property management firms in Palmas consider our villa the best rental property in Crescent Cove.

Located on Puerto Rico's southeast shore (about an hour's drive from San Juan) Palmas del Mar is a sprawling resort consisting of some 2,750 acres on more than two miles of palm tree-lined beach. Set on a former sugarcane plantation, the resort is located on the Caribbean Sea, with the Island of Vieques to the east.

Palmas Del Mar is both a vacation resort and a sophisticated limited access residential community with many different home developments throughout. Of the many developments within Palmas Del Mar, just just two developments -Crescent Beach and Crescent Cove - are truly and completely (every unit) beachfront.

Speaking of Crescent Cove, our regime was just the second 'villa or apartment' complex to be developed in Palmas and thus, it was situated in the best section of Palmas' almost two miles of beaches, partially protected from the prevailing easterly trade winds by Candelero Point. Between October and late March and as the prevailing winds are more northerly, our beach is usually calm, becoming a bit more 'sporty as the more normal Easterly trades start prevailing in late spring and summer. Because the beach is also semi-protected by a small reef just outside Candelero Point, there will be many days of the late Spring-to-Fall season where the beach just in front of Crescent Beach and Crescent Cove is the only swimmable area of the 2 miles of beaches inside Palmas Del Mar. And of course, beach lounges are available from the Crescent Cove staff for your comfort while beachside..

The villa's southeast exposure allows its penthouse terrace to be in shadow from mid-afternoon on, making it a lovely place to enjoy the stunning views of the courtyard, pool and beach area. That same southeast exposure provides a wonderful, natural breeze through the property that allows many to just shut off the A/C's, open the windows and sleep with the soft sound of the surf in the background....

Palmas Del Mar is located 50 minutes from San Juan making a day drive to San Juan a breeze. Palmas is also one hour from El Yunque -the Caribbean National (rain) Forest and Las Croabas where you can enjoy all sorts of day sails/outings to the many cays that dot the east coast of the island and the Cabezas de San Juan Bio-Bay.

In short, Palmas perfectly situated for you to enjoy almost all of what Puerto Rico has to offer without the mad hustle and bustle of San Juan proper. If you are looking to enjoy a relaxing resort atmosphere within one hour of Old San Juan and two hours from almost all the many attractions that Puerto Rico has to offer, Palmas will be as good as it gets.

If you are looking for fabulous golf, Palmas' two golf courses are considered among the finest in Puerto Rico. The old course - the Palm Course - was designed by Gary Player in the late Eighties and was updated in 2002. The front nine and back nine are totally different with the front nine being narrow & very technical -mostly an iron course- but with the back nine huge, wide open and long, with many elevation changes. Some holes have truly spectacular views of the beach and coastline with greens and tees 150 feet up from the beach.

The new course - Flamboyán - was designed by Rees Jones and finished in 2001. It is generally a long, difficult, wide open course with several long Par 4s and Par 5's that play directly into the teeth of what is usually a 15-20 mph breeze. I jokingly call #7 - a 540yard, slightly uphill Par 5 that plays directly into that wind- the only Par 6 in Puerto Rico. Trust me....make a bogey there and you will be very happy. ;o)

Besides fabulous golf, Palmas Del Mar has several miles of golf cart trails and walking paths, an equestrian center, 22 tennis courts and a fully-equiped fitness center.

Renting through us and our on-site property manager, you will be able to enjoy Palmas' athletic and leisure facilities at 'guest of member' rates, typically 20% off listed prices.

The villa's bedrooms will sleep six and we can accommodate a 7th guest with roll-aways that can be placed in any room. With each bedroom's en-suite, you and your traveling companions will have privacy when desired and enjoy the villa's spacious common areas when mingling.

About Jose and Elena Galindez

Gaby, Elena and I lived in Puerto Rico until 2001 when worked forced us to relocate Stateside, where we live today....in the Pacific Northwest.

Jose and Elena Galindez purchased this villa in 2006

Why Jose and Elena Galindez chose Humacao

Elena and I fell in love with Palmas way back in 1980 shortly after we first met and longed to live there while we worked and lived in Puerto Rico. We bought our first property in Palmas in 1997 and lived there until we relocated to the US in 2001.

The love of Palmas and Puerto Rico moved us to buy this property in 2006 and we have it to be our second home when I can retire sometime in 2016 of 2017

What makes this villa unique

Crescent Cove is one of just two truly beachfront regimes in Palmas -Crescent Beach being the other. Crescent Cove is smaller and more intimate then Crescent Beach and appeals to us for its smaller, more laid back atmosphere. The layout of the Crescent Cove villas is different: multiple levels versus a more traditional flat, single-level floor plan which gives everyone more privacy should one want that while one is staying there...

Fantastic! Perfect for families!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time during spring break at this villa in Palmas!!!! Loved it!

The home had everything we needed and more! This was our first time visiting PR, and Jose was such a great host--providing excellent communication and helpful hints on traveling and visiting PR! Surfside Realty was superb--so easy to pick-up keys and check-out, they even had boogie boards to rent for cheap! Everything was stress-free!!!

My kids had a blast cruising around Palmas in the golf carts--I do recommend renting one, at least for a few days! The swimming and beach were great and it was a plus that the beach cafe was a short walk away to grab a pina colada on the beach! Everything was a short drive--we did a snorkeling excursion to one of the islands, a kayaking trip to the Bio Bay, visit to Old San Juan, and a hike in the rainforest. I loved that the community was gated and felt so safe--I had no concerns having my teens explore the grounds on their own since it was so safe!

We had a terrific time at the villa and look forward to coming again next summer!!!! Highly recommend staying here!!!

Great Property for a PR Visit

  • 5 of 5

This is a great property and the owner is actively involved in managing it. It is well equipped for a great vacation and is well maintained and managed. For example, we had 2 minor problems (really operator error issues) when we arrived, but the owner called us to see if everything was OK. We told him about our issues and in less than 1 hr someone was there to "fix" (really explain how things worked) them. I've rented VRBO properties 10 or 11 times and never had a call from the owner. Jose called twice.

The property is in a great community with restaurants and good facilities. It is a little less than an hour from San Juan (easy drive), close to lots of snorkeling/diving vendors, convenient reach of a bio-luminescent bay, and day trips to Culebra or Vieques. The complex has a good pool with some covered seating, and has a beach right in front of it. A rental car is definitely needed. We didn't rent a golf cart and didn't feel one was needed. We would definitely use this property again.

Lovely villa, great location, attentive owners

  • 5 of 5

My family of five frequently rents houses and villas for vacation as a preference. One of the main things we look for when choosing a property, sight unseen (yes, there are pictures usually, but not always fully representative), is the attention level of the owner or property management company. From the moment I inquired about 34 Crescent Cove and was contacted by the owner while he was on vacation, I knew that we had found the place to spend our Christmas in Puerto Rico. What I have found over the years is that in most cases, the more engaged and helpful the owner/management company is, the better the rental experience overall. This particular property fell right in step with this trend. Jose described the property exactly as it was and provided everything we needed to get there, enjoy our stay and return home. Of course it didn't hurt that the Villa itself was wonderful, well maintained, and had everything we needed and more. It also didn't hurt that it was literally steps from one of our favorite beaches in the Caribbean. For those who prefer a pool, there is one just adjacent to the beach itself, private. Palmas del Mar is one of our go-to places to stay when we visit Puerto Rico; we particularly enjoy the tennis center restaurants and the equestrian center. Crescent Cove 34 is now our go-to rental property in PDM. This is largely due to the attentive ownership, and the management company, Surfside, who go well above expectations to make their guests feel at home. Thank you Jose, Elena for sharing your home with us!

Perfect vacation, lovely villa!

  • 5 of 5

We are sooooo pleased we had chosen this place. From the start, the owner, Jose, was very friendly and informative. He made sure our stay was as pleasant as promised. The check in was smooth and the staff was courteous. The villa was clean and well decorated. It was equipped with all we needed. The ocean view from the balcony is breath taking. We have no regrets for making this choice. My family enjoyed it. Una vez mas...gracias Jose!!!

Perfect vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the villa to find it in excellent condition. Plenty of room in this spacious unit. The location is superb. Just steps to the beach and pool. The weather was ideal. Low 80's during the day and 70 at night. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. We have stayed here many times and can't say enough nice things about our experiences there.

Golf, tennis, sport fishing, fine dining, horseback riding are all available.

Gorgeous view, clean and comfortable villa, great value!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you to Jose for all of his help with our first trip to Puerto Rico. The Palmas area is a wonderful area, and also seems to be a vacation spot for those who live on this beautiful island! The golf is spectacular. Villa is in a terrific spot for sight-seeing the rainforest and San Juan and Fajardo. After staying at other types of resorts, the pool was a breath of fresh air. No competition for seats! And everyone was friendly. Jose's villa is very nice and the artwork is inspiring. (Note that it does have a lot of stairs, if that's an issue for you.) It's not a newly remodeled home, but it's clean, a terrific value and a pleasure to deal with someone like Jose. Gracias, mi amigo nuevo! :)

Palmas Del Mar is Puerto Rico's fastest-growing, resort/residential community with over 3000 full-time residents and a thriving vacation ambiance. The property encompasses 2700 acres with 600 acres designated as wildlife preserve areas and has miles of walking, jogging and golf cart paths. Palmas Del Mar's beaches extend for over two miles and the best section of its beach is right in front of our complex and its sister Crescent Beach complex.

Palmas is 50 minutes from the fabulous shopping and 500 years of history of Old San Juan and one hour from El Yunque -the local Taíno name for the Caribbean National Rain Forest.

Several boat charters operate from the Palmas Marina offering half and full-day sails to Monkey Island and Vieques and Culebra -the Spanish Virgin Islands. Between November and April, our wahoo (ono) run compares to that in the Bahamas, with fish available 2 miles offshore. Palmas hosts 2 championship golf courses designed by Rees Jones and Gary Player, a casino, equestrian center, SCUBA charters, a dozen restaurants and 22 tennis courts all within the resort's grounds.

Notes:
The beach area just in front of Crescent Cove and its contiguous complex Crescent Beach just to the east is the best section of beach in Palmas Del Mar, protected from the most of the prevailing swells by a natural reef a quarter-mile East of the complexes. This reef is visible in the Google Map views I describe below. The villa has all the beach towels you will need and the Crescent Cove regime provides beach chairs/lounges for the complex's guests. Mid-stay maid/cleaning services are available. To see the villa's location, access Google Maps and search for Palmas Del Mar, Candelero, Puerto Rico. Switch to satellite view and tab the map right (east) and up (north) until the two U-shaped complexes come into view. Crescent Cove is the one with the pool closest to the ocean and our villa is in the 10th building on the left (southwest) leg of the U. The complex's Four Seasons Hotel and Casino is 300 yards from the villa -an easy 5 minute stroll.
