About Jarek Mika

We are family owned and operated. From the left meet Kate and Jarek (sister and brother) and our mom Dana.

We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.

We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.

We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.

Why Jarek Mika chose Washington DC

Situated in the heart of the city is the tony neighborhood of DuPont Circle. Located in a section of Washington called 'Old City', DuPont Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district. A number of historic homes can be found throughout the area, including the post-presidential residence of Woodrow Wilson. DuPont Circle is a known destination for fine dining and entertainment.

This cosmopolitan neighborhood includes an eclectic collection of shops and trendy restaurants that draw visitors young and old. Originally populated by Washington's old money and nouveau riche, DuPont Circle is now home to artists, intellectuals, and young professionals. Turn-of-the-century mansions and brownstones—once home to some the city's most prominent families—now house some of the nation's finest art museums, hippest restaurants, quirky shops, and foreign embassies. It is also home to the Phillips Collection, one of the city's foremost art museums featuring paintings by Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Picasso, and others.

What makes this condo unique

The proximity to the National Mall, White House and all of downtown is just unmatched in this apartment. On the weekend, DuPont Circle has one of the largest organic farmers' markets in the city. This neighborhood is accessible by foot or cab. WalkScore rates our unit and the surrounding neighborhood a walkability rating of 98 out of 100 - so as perfect as one can get. There are two Metro Stations nearby our condo - Dupont Circle which is pretty close as well as U Street. Both within walking distance about 10 minutes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lovely apartment - very appealing atmosphere. Great location. Incredibly comfortable beds. Only downfalls: internet was extremely unreliable (only worked about 10% of the time), washer and dryer were advertised but were not there for our entire week's stay (a real disappointment - owner said they stopped working last week and he was in process of having them replaced) and no outdoor grill (as was advertised).

Comfortable & Clean

  • 5 of 5

The house was a pleasure to stay in. It was located on a quiet street but walk just a couple of blocks and there are lots of stores and restaurants. The kitchen was well equipped to cook just about anything. With two bedrooms and two full bathrooms it can accommodate 4 people very easily. The owners were very helpful, sending me a guide to the area and answered my emails when I had questions. If we ever come back to DC we would happily rent the house again.

Comfortable Home away from Home

  • 4 of 5

The whole process of booking Jarek and Kate's Dupont Circle rental was easy and straightforward. The description is exactly as described and within easy access from Reagan Airport using the Metro to U Street station. The room was very comfortable for the 4 of us, and for those times when we were short on time to eat out for breakfast or came home early enough for dinner from sightseeing we brought groceries from the local Trader Joe's and Safeway and had readily available meals on the quick or using the kitchen to make a nice meal. The place was relaxing and allowed time to unwind or prepare for a long day of walking and sightseeing. There was great shower pressure, and the washer and dryer was efficient and handy. WiFi access was available and was a big help with our plannings. TV and DVD were also available. We thought we would have time to use them, but realized there was so much to see and do in DC! The location is nice, quiet and quite safe. It is also a great location for public transportation and getting around.

Jarek and Kate's instructions are detailed, and they made it easy to rent the place. They also provided suggested interests of things to do in the area which was much appreciated. We would definitely consider this place again!

Perfect place for a wonderful DC vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with our married daughter and her husband in this row house - it was beautifully appointed and well maintained. The kitchen had everything one could possibly need and each bedroom had an en-suite bathroom. It was a 40 minute walk to the Smithsonian and 10 minute walk to the DuPont Circle metro. It was a nice quiet neighborhood with access to everything. We especially appreciated being able to get a parking pass for a small additional fee. The owners left a notebook with helpful tips and sightseeing ideas. I initially had trouble figuring out the keyless entry but the owners were very responsive and reached out a couple of times to see if we needed anything.

Very clean with ample room for family of five in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with the two bedroom property for our family of five. The description was spot-on. We were welcomed into the home with a bottle of wine and some goodies. The owner provided many of the maps, flyers and books from the DC attractions which was very helpful for vacationers. The home was modern, very clean, well maintained and ample towels provided. The kitchen was supplied with modern appliances, all necessary cookware and utensils and the showers were amazing. The bathrooms in general were a little tight, but very functional. The only things missing were televisions in the bedrooms.

This location was uniquely positioned between DuPont Circle and the 14th street district providing many close options to walk for dining, shops and entertainment. Parking in the neighborhood was fairly easy with the optional parking pass. The 12 minute walk to the metro convenient to travel all DC attractions and anywhere in the city. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
