About The Owner

We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.

We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.

We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.

Why The Owner chose Washington DC

Situated in the heart of the city is the tony neighborhood of DuPont Circle. Located in a section of Washington called 'Old City', DuPont Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district. A number of historic homes can be found throughout the area, including the post-presidential residence of Woodrow Wilson. DuPont Circle is a known destination for fine dining and entertainment.

This cosmopolitan neighborhood includes an eclectic collection of shops and trendy restaurants that draw visitors young and old. Originally populated by Washington's old money and nouveau riche, DuPont Circle is now home to artists, intellectuals, and young professionals. Turn-of-the-century mansions and brownstones—once home to some the city's most prominent families—now house some of the nation's finest art museums, hippest restaurants, quirky shops, and foreign embassies. It is also home to the Phillips Collection, one of the city's foremost art museums featuring paintings by Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Picasso, and others.

What makes this condo unique

The proximity to the National Mall, White House and all of downtown is just unmatched in this apartment. On the weekend, DuPont Circle has one of the largest organic farmers' markets in the city. This neighborhood is accessible by foot or cab. WalkScore rates our unit and the surrounding neighborhood a walkability rating of 98 out of 100 - so as perfect as one can get. There are two Metro Stations nearby our condo - Dupont Circle which is pretty close as well as U Street. Both within walking distance about 10 minutes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lovely apartment - very appealing atmosphere. Great location. Incredibly comfortable beds. Only downfalls: internet was extremely unreliable (only worked about 10% of the time), washer and dryer were advertised but were not there for our entire week's stay (a real disappointment - owner said they stopped working last week and he was in process of having them replaced) and no outdoor grill (as was advertised).

Excellent location and communication with the property owners.

Awesome spot with many nice touches. I would have given it 5 stars, but there are a handful of minor maintenance issues to be addressed. The shower head needs attention as well as the washing machine (spin cycle wasn't functional and we had to wring out clothes by hand). We will definitely consider this property for future trips.

Great location for a DC Trip

  • 4 of 5

This is our second stay in this building (we were in the top unit the previous year). The 1st floor garden apartment is nicely decorated and has all the amenities that you need for staying in the city. Trader Joes is within walking distance and the U Street Metro stop is less than 10 minutes away. Lovely neighborhood and an oasis from the hustle and bustle of touring all day.

Jarek and Kate were timely in our requests and proactive in letting us know when they needed to be in the unit.

Only complaint I had was that the unit was noisy and that the laundry is small. We had to run the dryer several times to get the clothes dry and the washer is very small so we had to do multiple small washings. The ground level of the unit is a bit loud; not for sure if the noise was from next door neighbors or just general noise given that its a ground unit. We didn't notice it at all in the top unit.

With that said, its a great location for bus and metro. Our two boys had plenty of space to stretch out and have fun. Would highly recommend!

Our DC home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We once again had a lovely stay at Swann St. This is our 7th stay here(upstairs once) and the neighborhood keeps getting better. Easy walking to Metro and shopping and many more restaurants popping up. We feel very safe in walking the streets at all times of day. The unit is comfortable and well equipped for cooking. The beds and bathrooms are great. Love sitting in the bay window watching the dog walkers.

Perfect location, rental, and hosts!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the best VRBO rentals I've stayed in! It is clean, updated, inviting, and easy to call a home-away-from-home! The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals (with Trader Joe's and Whole Foods only a 10-15 minute walk away!), the beds were very comfortable (definitely important for an extended stay!), and the bathrooms were clean and modern. The layout was perfect with the family room/kitchen upstairs and the two bed/two bath downstairs-- made it the perfect set up for 4 adults with plenty of space. The hosts were very quick to respond to email and very kind-- they even left us a welcoming gift! (always a nice touch and really shows they take pride in their rental!) Dupont circle is an ideal location for staying in DC- there are so many bars/restaurants within walking distance (but just far enough away that the street stays quiet at night!), and there are two metro locations within a 10-15 minute walk to get you anywhere you need to go. We even walked to the mall a few times, and it only took about 30-45 minutes. We spent a long time deciding where to stay for month-long work trip to DC, and we are so happy that we stayed here!
