We live in Connecticut and have been vacationing on Charlestown Beach for 25 years. We rented until 2007 when our favorite home on the beach came on the market and we jumped at the opportunity.
Bob purchased this house in 2007
Our home is the perfect beach cottage....breathtaking views, steps from our double lot beach and a comfortable, clean and relaxing living space.
My family stayed a this house for four nights and had a wonderful experience. The house is directly on the ocean, which was great with small kids. There is a bright and beautiful kitchen we enjoyed cooking in, and the outdoor deck that overlooks the beach was the perfect place to eat our meals. We also loved that just a short walk away there was a clam shack that where you could get dinner or lunch, as well as ice cream--the perfect place to take our 4-year-old and 1-year-old. We would stay here again and the owner was a pleasure to work with.
We had a wonderful family beach vacation in this house. I would rent it again in a heartbeat! It was clean and there was plenty of room for my family.
We had a wonderful vacation at this clean and very well maintained house. Everything in the house worked great. The views up and down the beach are stunning. We have vacationed at six other houses on Charlestown Beach and this is by far the nicest one we have stayed in. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a private beach front location, open living spaces and modern amenities.
While I certainly feel that our hosts were welcoming and that the location of this house was excellent, the word 'pristine' in the heading a is bit hard to swallow. First, be aware that there is a house right to the south of your view of the ocean that is not shown in any of these pictures. We easily got past that as that is pretty common when located on the beach. However, as we entered the house we were shocked to see the current condition of the home. The bathrooms had been cleaned, but that was about it. The floors were so dirty we would not take our shoes off, the mattress pads had mildew and stains on them, the furniture covers were hard for us to sit on due to how dirty they were, and I would rather not discuss the kitchen sink. Needless to say, the word pristine became a bit of a joke within the first hour. I realize that people have different levels of cleanliness, but we spent a considerable amount of time cleaning upon our arrival. We would have loved to do some laundry for them but it was locked away in a closet. We looked forward to spending the evening relaxing on the deck. But unfortunately the umbrella had to be rigged up, the two plastic chairs were terribly uncomfortable and we had to spend time pulling slivers out of the kids feet from the weathered deck. There were a few other concerns, for example a large mirror that had fallen off of the wall and sat in the hallway (making us a bit nervous with young children around), but we did have a wonderful week in spite them. We realized that that this house is for sale, and so we can only imagine that the owners are having a difficult time with its upkeep. It has wonderful potential, but we left feeling like we sorely over paid for our week's stay. To add salt to our wounds, the owner had told us that it was worth the price because he had the nicest house on the beach. Yet another inside joke for the week.
This home is in an ideal location and is spacious, clean, bright. The layout is perfect for families, rooms are open and the sunrises and sunsets are unmatched. The beach is right outsde the door, and is exclusive, somewhat remote...perfect. Location Location Location, paired with all of the contemporary luxeries, technologies, and space you'd ever need.
We just came home from a wonderful weekend at this house!!!
It is on a quiet street right on the beach. There are great seafood markets very close and the prices are extremely fair.
We will be coming back to this house at the end of the summer!!!!
This place is a sure bet.

Charlestown Beach is a small, quiet town but with plenty to do in the area. Greater Charlestown has several casual restaurants, inns, ice cream shops, an excellent local supermarket, farm stands, antique stores, galleries, marinas, tennis courts, wildlife refuges, walking trails, parks and fishing spots. In nearby Narragansett and Westerly and other surrounding towns there are superb restaurants, movie theaters, gourmet shop, outstanding golf courses and public beaches, surfing and adventure parks (kiddie rides, water slides, batting cage, go carts, mini golf). You can also buy lobsters every afternoon right off the lobster boats as they come in. A 30 minute drive puts you in the excitement and fun of Newport and its sailing, mansions and restaurants or the Foxwood’s casino for gambling and first rate shows and bands. Or you could simply buy local fresh fish, put it on the BBQ and enjoy a bottle of wine and the ocean view from the deck or beach.
Other Activities: Mystic aquarium, miniature golf, go carts, batting cages
Golf: Good selection of 9 and 18 hole courses nearby. My favorites Pinecrest (9 holes) and Beaver River, Richmond Country Club and Lake of Isles (18 holes).
