Along the way you’ll pass many classic ocean-front “Summer Cottages”; one or two rumored to belong to famous New England-based professional athletes.
Almost Too Much to See and Enjoy: Remember that there are 7 ocean beaches in Narragansett to explore which, combined with many other local attractions, offer so many possibilities for Summer family fun. If you want to venture out, there’s always historic Newport only 20 minutes away or the famous Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun Casinos are just over one hour away.
The layout of the Beach House ll was perfect for our large group! We also like the quieter area, away from the congestion downtown...Narragansett is a perfect spot for us, particularly since our 11 grandchildren love Narragansett Beach. Also, the nearby ice cream parlor and the Spain restaurant were added treats. We look forward to staying again next summer!
We just returned from our vacation and stayed in this beautiful home - two families of four each. We each have 2 children (~2 & ~4 yrs). It was such a clean, modern & relaxing home. It's centrally located to all beaches which was great b/c we went to Roger Wheeler (closest beach), Narragansett and Scarborough beaches. A little too far to walk (even to RW) b/c you have to lug all of your beach stuff but you could definitely walk there if just out for a stroll without your beach stuff. It had a very nice outdoor shower and the BR's were perfectly laid out for 2 families. 1st floor had 3 BR's, 2nd floor had 1 BR & 3rd floor had 2 BR's. You really felt like you had your own space as a family yet we were always able to hang out together on the 2nd floor. We grilled outside or went to Charlie O's which was the perfect casual restaurant with a huge menu and the food was delicious - it's a 1 min walk away.
The kitchen had almost everything we could possibly need to cook. The ONLY challenge for us was that it didn't have a bathtub and we had little ones with us, some of who were afraid to take a shower. By the end of the week they were all taking showers with no complaints (ha!). There was pIenty of parking but not a yard which would've been nice with young children but we were at the beach all day so it wasn't a problem. I was a little worried about the stairs with the little ones (esp the 21 mo old) but they are wide steps with platforms breaking them up so none of them fell or even stumbled once. If you have kids & are concerned, just bring 2 'pressure' baby gates and you will be fine. We brought a gate and found we didn't even need to use it - the stairs were not too steep. There is plenty of living space on each floor. Nobody ever woke anyone else up b/c there were so many BRs that you could always find a quiet room. One of my favorite things was that every room had a ceiling fan so it was rarely too warm in the house. My other favorite thing was the washer/dryer on the 1st fl - sounds crazy but it was such a modern one and all of our clothes were always clean b/c we loved using it. Wish I had the exact same one myself. The street was quiet. Went to Marshalls/Homegoods & Purple Cow ~2 miles away during naptime. It rained like crazy at the shore one day so we went to the zoo in Providence - it was so great. The owner was so nice when we were booking the property. Overall, a perfect vacation - the house was beautiful - we loved it!!!!!
The beach vacation for our family of 14 was wonderful. The photos represented the house, layout and amenities accurately. We arrived to a clean, well maintained house. We were pleased with the owner's responsiveness to our questions and needs. We chose to eat in and found grocery stores nearby very good. We recommend the rental!
The house, 1-2 miles from state beaches, is on a small property close to other homes. There is a small strip of grass under the clothes line and a very small front yard; the rest of the area is covered with stones. The bedrooms are large with comfortable beds, a dresser and lamp, and the bathrooms are nice-sized and up-to-date. The living area is relatively small, especially for a house that sleeps so many people, with seating on two couches as seen in the photos. The deck has seating for 5, the dining area for 6 - for more people, you need to bring in deck chairs. The open kitchen has ample counter space and is fairly well stocked, though there are just enough glasses and plates if everyone sits down for a meal. There is no AC, but the house was cool thanks to strong cross ventilation and overhead fans in each room. The manager and owner responded quickly when we had a couple of issues.
The house was clean and in good condition. Overall, I would describe it as functional; it is a rental property not someone's beloved home, and so lacks both the charm and the potential annoyance of living with someone else's taste. Be aware, if you are used to places with lots of extras, that it does not have beach chairs, umbrellas, or beach passes, kids' games, etc.
The kids enjoyed the beaches and nearby Adventureland. Aunt Carrie's ice cream was a big hit too. There is a Stop 'N Shop 10 minutes away.
We were very satisfied with the spacious Victorian home we rented. The bathrooms were very clean and roomy. We loved having air conditioning in each bedroom. It was also useful having the two kitchens and a washer and dryer. We spent most of our time in the second floor open space area and on the first floor deck. We also liked being so close to the beach and restaurants. We were also happy that there was the option for the linen service as well as the cleaning service which we used as well. We had a fantastic time in Narragansett and highly recommend this property to others!
We had 11 people in the house and were very comfortable, great location, walking distance to a couple of good restaurants and the beach. We had great time and would visit again.
We had a great time. Plenty of room to spread out. We walked to the beach everyday, sometimes twice a day It was so convenient to restaurants, ice cream for the kids, they loved it. We will definitely stay again. Thanks Robin and staff for being so nice and accommodating
The house is located just 1,200 feet from the Atlantic Ocean. Walk or bike to Sand Hill Cove (Salty Brine) state beach. Just beyond is the rustic fishing port of Galilee. Board the ferry to take a day trip to beautiful Block Island. Or simply enjoy this thriving New England fishing village with its many shops, seafood restaurants, famous fishing trawlers and sport fishing fleet.
