Come stay with us on your next trip to Ashland, Oregon. Home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Southern Oregon is known for its natural beauty, cultural activities and many outdoor adventures.
This log cabin lodge was built and shipped to Oregon by one of the premier log home builders in Montana . We were looking for the true feel of the west . Some of the more common comments from our guest. ' Just 30 minutes drive from Ashland and you feel like your in the middle of Idaho's wilderness. ' Its like walking into a Sunset magazine article with all the cabin decor '. The large river rock masonry fireplace offers a great area for sitting, relaxing and conversing with family and friends. The log dinning room table will easily sit 10 . We have an outside cottage for those wanting a little more privacy . It has a gas fireplace. Flat screen TV , and king bed. The master bedroom has a king bed with a antique claw foot tub and sink in the room. There are a number of good dinning establishments for those wanting a night out without having to drive to town. My other cabin can be found at VRBO listing # 326005
Keywords: Log Cabin Lodge on the shores of Hyatt Lake. Secluded and nestled in an alpine meadow surrounded by Aspen trees. Majestic, serene , private and great views.
This is not really me but it is my son. It was such a great fish that I had to show it . I was born in Ashland in 1951. My grandfather used to bring me to Hyatt lake every summer for a week of camping and fishing. When I was on one of my bike rides from Ashland I noticed a for sale sign in the grass that appeared to have been there for a long time. I jotted the number down and thought what a great place this would be should it still be for sale . As fate would have it it was . After many years of remodeling rebuilding etc. I thought what a sham that more people don't get to experience Hyatt lake as I did growing up. That is why we offer this experience for you, your family and friends.
Randy Warren purchased this cabin in 1991
It offers so much to do and is a great escape from the heat of the valley in the summer months. The cross country skiing , hiking, biking and just the remote feeling of its location . Its 1/2 mile from the Pacific Crest Trail.
Rest and relaxation. A great place with clean air and water. Don't bring bottled water , as the water in the tap is as good as it gets. Watching the sunrise over the lake while having your morning coffee on the deck or sitting in the fire pit looking as stars or go for a canoe on the lake , It doesn't get much better than this. Don't forget you bike, rides are great both mountain and road. For those wanting to see Crater Lake there is a back rout taking you into the East entrance. It's a drive you won't want to miss. If you are into bird watching my biology professor counted 210 different species of birds from the front deck.
We spent a wonderful week at the Curry cabin and its adjoining annex. It was a family reunion of 9 people (2 kids under 10) and 1 dog. The cabin was sweet and rustic,…kitchen fully stocked, beds comfortable, a lovely backyard facing the lake with a nice view of the mountains. We had a problem with the plumbing early in the week which meant that we did not have the use of the downstairs bathroom for two days. Randy was very responsive and the handyman was able to help us out early on our third day there. It was inconvenient but we felt that our concerns were addressed.
The lake is quite low and was quite a distance from the house…the area around it was covered with goose poop. This did not make the area conducive for swimming, fishing or using the boats that the cabin offers. That was our choice and Randy was very helpful with suggestions of other places to swim. Since it was a hot week we made good use of his suggestions of a quarry and another, smaller lake. There were no beaches on the lake but the water was refreshing and clean.
In the interests of full disclosure…the write up of the house says that there is internet access. This is not actually true. As Randy told us prior to our arriving, you can create your own “hotspot” using your cell phone but we weren’t able to get this to work because of limited cell service. So if internet is important to anyone, be forewarned. Also understand that there are really only two bedrooms in the main house. The loft is an open area overlooking the living room next to the upstairs bedroom. If you add the annex there are three bedrooms plus the loft. The loft was perfect for the kids and their very generous aunt. The cabin is up in the mountains above Ashland…it is a 35-40 minute drive up a very windy, steep mountain road where there are often open road areas right next to a steep drop-off. This was a bit daunting at first but got easier as the week went along. Because there is not much in the way of groceries up on the mountain planning meals at the beginning of the week and really loading up on supplies made our stay less stressful.
We really loved the annex…it is right off of the kitchen to the main house and was the perfect place for our family members to find a bit of privacy. All in all the cabin is as advertised…rustic and very adequate for 9 people…we even had an extra bed had we needed it.
This cabin exceeded our expectations. It's well equipped and maintained. The size was perfect for our party of 8 adults and 4 kids. The radiant floor heat, gas heater and fireplace made the cabin warm. Although there was no water in the lake at the time of our visit, the views were breathtaking. And we enjoyed several walks around the area. We couldn't have found a better place to spend quality time with family. The only drawback is there is very limited cell reception (at least with AT&T), but it made for a nice weekend unplugged. After posting pictures of our trip on social media, we already a lot of people asking us where they can find this amazing place. We will definitely consider booking this cabin again and will recommend it to friends.
Great cabin for those who want to get away and relax! We spent 4 nights and loved every minute. It has been really warm in the valley and we were a little concerned since the cabin does not have central air. That was not a problem at all. The nights were chilly and there was a wonderful breeze during the day. We even had several fires in the stone fireplace during the evenings. That was not expected!! Stars are bright and clear for those who enjoy star gazing. I went trout fishing on the lake for the first time and caught one! The clerks at Hyatt Lake Resort and Howard Prairie Resort were very helpful and offered great advise. The cabin is very comfortable and wonderfully decorated. Beds are very comfortable too. Pinehurst Inn on Hwy. 66 has wonderful food. I had a few questions for Randy while at the cabin and he answered the phone right away. I would definitely rent this cabin again.
The Curry cabin was a great vacation place for our family which consisted of 5 adults, and 6 children between the ages of 3-11. We really enjoyed the outdoor feel of the cabin as we all live in large cities so it was a complete escape for us. The kids all loved to hang out in the loft area when inside and we all thoroughly enjoyed being outside on the deck or playing sports. The two dads made an amazing Frisbee golf course which everyone played several times during the 5 days we were there. The large table for dining was perfect not only for eating but for playing games. The beds were all comfortable, bathrooms were very clean and it was great to have the cute cottage. Everyone had fun spotting various wildlife and we had spectacular sunsets each evening. We spent two full days at the cabin, 1 day at Crater Lake and the 4th of July in Ashland at Lithia Park and then swimming at Emigrant Lake. Due to water shortages in Oregon the lake by the cabin was about 2 football fields away and not fit for boating or swimming. That was a bit of a disappointment but didn't keep us from enjoying everything else around the property. One thing which would have been better would be that the kitchen items had been put away in a more orderly fashion before we had arrived. We did organize them as we made all of our meals there & it made it easier to know where things were. The games also were in disorder but that was an easy fix. We really had a fabulous time and I know there will be many wonderful memories.
The Curry cabin is better than AWESOME, it's unbelievable! I am a documentary filmmaker who needed a place to pamper some executive producers over Memorial Day weekend. I chose this cabin because it sleeps 12 and is located on one of my favorite lakes in Southern, Oregon. Long story short, MY EXPECTATIONS WERE EXCEEDED 10 FOLD! Not only does this cabin have a billion dollar view it also offers the perfect balance between rustic living and modern day comfort. For example, it's a log cabin but has a fantastic kitchen with lots of counter space, new appliances, and heated floors. These features made it possible (and comfortable) for me to cater fancy meals but still maintain a relaxed and restful atmosphere. My group was up there three days and nights, but the rest we got made it seem like we had lived there for years. My investors were super duper satisfied and want to come back next year. I'll definitely be renting this place again in the near future. Two thumbs up, five stars, and high fives all around!
This couldn't have been a better place for our reunion of old school friends!! Absolutely everything we needed was provided (except the food!), and it was all perfect. The cabin is so comfortable and cozy, and wonderfully decorated. We didn't realize how long and windy the road was from Ashland, so would not have made arrangements to go to dinner and a play, knowing the return trip would be dark and difficult. Much more fun to BBQ and relax around the fire. Lots of fun games, movies, and books provided!! Thanks Randy for the great hospitality, and look forward to our next visit!!
A great site seeing drive to Crater lake thru the Klamath lake basin, One our favorite dinning places is on the way with lakeside dinning on the Klamath . This drive should not be missed . It takes you into Crater Lake the back way.
