About Pam Pringle, Owner

We travel globally and prefer a vacation rentals to hotels. So we understand what separates the best from the rest when it comes to accommodations. Little things... and attention to details make a difference and we have reflected that philosophy in our home. We built this custom award winning (Best Vacation Home) timber framed home in 2006/2007.

Pam Pringle, Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why Pam Pringle, Owner chose North Carolina Mountains

We fell in love with area and it's great central location. Franklin is a quaint small town with friendly people. We have terrific restaurants nearby. And, it's out of the way of noisy tourism but easy to get to all surrounding areas such as Asheville, Bryson City, Cherokee, The Smoky Mountain National Park, Sylva, Dillsboro. Hiking to waterfalls and taking scenic drives with a picnic is a couple of our favorite things to do.

What makes this house unique

The views are incredible and our area is such a quiet and serene spot to escape from the stresses and hectic schedule of city life. We've even thought of hiking sticks, coolers, picnic baskets and our activity books will keep you busy and coming back time and time again. So much to do, or do nothing!

Guestbook comments from the owner

If I were say what I felt about the Pond House I would just be repeating the previous comments.

Absolute Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our week at the Pond House! Everything is "top shelf" and all the little details have been thought through and provided at your finger tips. We visit the mountains every three months or so...and this house had the absolute best and most fully equipped kitchen I've had the pleasure of using. I LOVE to this was just delightful! Awesome views from every room in the house and the screened in porch was just the "cherry on top"!! The house feels very secluded...yet is only minutes from town (about 5 - 7 minutes). My hubby played on several different golf courses and enjoyed them all. We visited Highlands for lunch one day and saw all the waterfalls on the way. The house is a perfect location to see all the attractions during the day...and then return for a relaxing evening. Beds were very comfortable, bathrooms are top of the line, and the house was spotlessly clean!! Pam is a pleasure to work with...sends lots of information to make your stay more enjoyable; and Tony was so sweet to meet us at the house a little early. Thanks for remembering our anniversary and for gifting us a beautiful bottle of wine!! We will definitely put the Pond House at the top of our list of places we will definitely visit again!! Thanks for sharing your home with truly is deserving of a FIVE STAR rating!! Linda and Andy

Owner's Response: Linda, thanks so much for the terrific review! I'm happy you enjoyed a memorable anniversary. My husband and I love to cook too so I try to make sure our guests have everything they need to prepare meals. Isn't that one of the great benefits of vacation rental homes vs. hotels; eating in. I'll look forward to your return visit in the future. Your home away from home awaits. Pam

I am so happy we chose The Pond! Your place is amazing! It was exactly what we needed after the hustle and bustle of the holidays! Every winter, our family rents a cabin just to reconnect and regroup for the up and coming year. This by far was the most accommodating cabin we've rented. It began with a wonderful welcome from Tony! He was SUPER nice and helpful, showing us where everything was, down to the extra propane tank for the grill! The outdoor fireplace was awesome! The guys were most impressed with the firewood supply. Most days, we kept both fireplaces going. The kitchen was impressive to us girls. Every pot, pan and small appliances you could imagine, as well as spices. We enjoyed making waffles with the waffle iron. Loved the view from the deck and our bedroom window. Super comfy beds and nice soft bedding. We managed to pull ourselves away for one afternoon and went to dinner at Motor Company Grill. The food was great and we loved the atmosphere. The only downfall was.....we had to leave! But we will definitely be back!! LOTS of wonderful memories were made with friends and family.

Over-the-Top Fabulous!!!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful luxury timber frame home tucked quietly into the woods. We had spectacular views from the deck, slept like babies in the comfy beds while enjoying the cool night air, and really enjoyed hanging out around fireplaces. These owners have thought of every amenity to make your stay Top Drawer...right down to the Welcome S'mores Packet!! Franklin is a beautiful area and so close to many other scenic areas. We really enjoyed Great Smoky Mtn. R.R. In Bryson City. DuPont Forest has beautiful waterfalls and hiking. Treat yourself to dinner at Caffe's connected to a gas station, but don't let that fool you...service & food is shrimp & grits ever, and we live on the Gulf Coast!! Root & Barrel has tasty Sunday Brunch w/great service. If you really want to treat yourself to an extra special place, check out The Pond House. You won't be disappointed!!!!!

Beautiful and secluded property!

  • 5 of 5

I recently experienced The Pond for a retreat from the city and the August heat. This house has everything you could want in a mountain top experience. The outdoor porch was a beautiful place to read and relax.

I hope to come back for the fall / winter season. The drive to Highlands was easily accessible and beautiful. Per the owner's recommendation, don't miss Caffe' Rel for lunch and dinner and bring your own special wine at night. The Pond is lovely!

We found The Pond to be an exceptional vacation home! It's decorated with beautiful furnishings and was extremely clean! We enjoyed the peacefulness of the screened in porch as well the beautiful view from the rear deck. The beds were very comfortable and the linens very luxurious feeling. Pam, the owner, was very easy to communicate with and provided us with tons of information about the area. I would not hesitate to stay here again and will recommend to family and friends!
