Find incredible views from every room in this spacious home on the Chesapeake Bay. Located in a small quiet beach front community, it's a perfect getaway. Enjoy spectacular sunrises over the Bay from the deck. Newly furnished and first time listed for weekly rental. Located waterfront, you can't get closer to the beach and all the fun and relaxation found there. Minutes walk to 500 foot pier for fishing, crabbing and just plain enjoying! Find fossils on the beach from the Miocene era 'Cliffs of Calvert.' Short distance to many historic sites, nature parks, and Southern Maryland attractions.
We rented this house for a week for a family vacation (4 adults and 2 children) and couldn't have been happier. The house is comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfortable and we quickly felt at home. The beach is less than a minute walk down the road and our children were delighted by the easy bay waves and the fossil hunting. Gary was a responsive and gracious homeowner. He responded quickly to our questions - it's clear he cared not only about his home but about our experience in his home. Can't wait to come back again next summer.
My family truly enjoyed our time at the house on the Chesapeake Bay. It was great down time for our family who are always on the go. As the kids get older, it is so nice to share special time with them and this house was the perfect place. It was clean, large and a great get away. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy this relaxing home.
Thank you Gary for the opportunity to stay at your wonderful home . The views are better than the pictures posted on the website. The huge deck overlooks the bay and pier.
We kayaked quite a bit and was within five feet of a school of dolphins swimming . Every day we watched the bald eagles hunt for food . The beach and pier was very clean and relaxing. The locals were so friendly and helpful on things to do. The Calvert Museum is a must if you have time on Solomons Island.
A local named Larry gave my grandson and I lessons on catching blue crabs . We cooked some in the well stocked kitchen almost every night.
The house was very clean and the furniture was so comfortable . The beds could use an upgrade but that was our only setback. I absolutely loved the house and the area and hope to return there again as soon as possible.
We just got home from a wonderful vacation on the Chesapeake! This house is perfect! The view is outstanding, the house was clean, comfy and well equipped...loved the organization! Just a short walk to your own private beach!! Our grandaughters loved that we were the only ones on the beach. We found 40+ sharks teeth along with some other fossils. We ventured out to Solomon's Island, Calverts Cliffs State Park, Lusby and Prince Frederick, which were all just a few minutes away. This house is one that we would love to stay at again! Thanks Gary for renting this great house to us and for being so accommodating!
I don't want this to sound all negative because by all means there were a lot of positives to our stay. However, if you're paying nearly $2000 for a weeks stay there are some things that should be pointed out. I will address both the positives and negatives.
First of all, the owner is extremely nice and was responsive to the few issues I pointed out to him. The air conditioning was excellent as we reached some pretty high temperatures. The location was quiet with access to the community pier and small beach just a short walk away. All the appliances we used worked well and the house didn't have that rental smell that a lot of them do. The porch had an excellent view of the Chesapeake Bay and the early morning sunrise. However, the porch is kind of dilapidated and could use a major overhaul. The porch sits right on the edge of the cliff and I'm not sure how much longer it will be there if any more erosion occurs...which it will. The main living room was very comfortable with a nice TV. However, the other "sitting" area had a TV that was not functional. We wanted to put the grandkids in there and let them watch their shows as we wound down our evening taking in a ball game or so but only one TV didn't allow us to do that. There were plenty of dishes and cooking supplies. The dining room table was nice a large and accommodated all of us. I guess my main issue was with the three bedrooms upstairs. The comforters were falling apart and the pillows looked liked they are stuffed with cotton balls. The beds weren't that comfortable but they did the job. Some of the lights didn't work but that's not a big issue to us. There were stains on a lot of the upstairs couches/beds but I guess that's expected of a rental unit. The whole place could use a nice painting and some carpentry work to really look nice. The carpet was pretty bad as it was soiled in places and needed either stretching out or just replaced. I personally would invest a few thousand dollars and upgrade the entire house. If that were done, It would stand out better next to the gorgeous houses next to it. Paint, new deck (or at least repaired), carpet, TV, and a few other minor repairs is what this place needs to demand that high of a price.
The house was the perfect place for a group of friends to gather. 14 of us spent the weekend singing and enjoying the breathtaking view of the Bay. We may have provided a concert or two to the neighbors and fishermen on the pier. :) The house was clean and ready for our arrival, and had the perfect amount of space for our large group.
The only challenge we had was cleaning up all of our dishes after the weekend without dish detergent provided. Other than that, a perfect stay!
