Guestbook comments from the owner

Just wanted to let you know that my son, brothers and I had a great time at your place on the river. It was very enjoyable. We will most likely do it again next year at this same time. We did get to canoe a long stretch of the river on Saturday. The water was to high and murky for fishing.

Great River House

  • 5 of 5

This house is a great place for a family vacation. Two families of 5 fit comfortably. The river is right in your backyard with lots of tubes ,a kayak, and life vests to use. We tubed right from the house to the end of the road. About a 5 minute drive took 2 1/2 hours on the river. It was very relaxing and beautiful. I recommend this house to anyone who likes camping but wants the comfort of a house.

Love the river!

The house was great! We had a plenty of room for a party of 5 adults and 3 children. Thank you for providing such a fairly priced, family friendly, vacation home.

Fantastic Stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

Absolute fantastic place to get away to for a weekend. We had a blast and took full advantage of being right on the river and having an outside fire pit. Very clean and plenty of sleeping space!

Camping with all the amenities

  • 5 of 5

The house is a wonderful retreat from this busy world. The river was low but perfect for our young boys to enjoy throwing rocks, wading, and taking kayak rides. Our boys got to go fishing for the first time as well. We lucked out on the weather until the last day, not needing to use the air conditioners. It was so peaceful to go to sleep with the sound of insects and the river as the only noises one hears. We got to see the local Bald Eagle and my father and mother got to see it land on the rocks directly across from the house. They were beyond excited. The screened in porch was heavily used and has inspired my husband and I to do this to our own backyard deck. We are so happy to have had the opportunity to really explore the Cacapon river by just walking off the back deck. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves they outdoors and in need of an escape.

family reunion

  • 4 of 5

we just got back from a Wonderful week On The River. the river was low from lack of rain, what do you expect for the end of July :) , but was Perfect for Tubing and Walking the rocks. the fact there is no cell service was heaven, internet, email and facebook worked fine, but No Phones Ringing, just heaven. the silence outside was magical. only the sound of the river, deer wondering around with their babies, squirrels, eagles, spiders (they where great, no bugs) toads. all kinds of things for young explorers to discover. the walks on the beautifly kept roads in the woods where great for the dog and the mobility challanged among us. the house is definatly not for the handycapped but if you can do stairs to get into the house, then all is well. it is a fully equiped house (and I mean fully) except for sheets. we did Biking, Hiking, Walking, Shopping, Exploring, Reading, the deck is perfect to Yoga, Meditating, Sleeping and just relaxing. Sitting out side talking and catching up with seldum seen freinds and family .....Priceless The owner is great to work with, the description of the proporty is excellent it is a very clean comfortable and inviting rental. we definatly would recommend it to anyone.

Cacapon House

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at the property. The location was fantastic and the walk in access to the river was perfect for our new swimmers! I think we were in one of two or three weeks in the year when AC was mandatory (especially for getting kids to sleep), but coffee on the screened in porch in the morning was the best. Thanks for a great week.
