We have a large family and purchased this home to be welcoming to family gatherings. Within walking distance to *RMNP and the YMCA of the Rockies**, it has a great location and our frequent visitors include local wildlife. Sick of the traffic in and out of the park during the summer? Walk into the park and climb aboard the RMNP free shuttle bus to many great hikes and picnic locations! We are also within 3 miles of downtown and during the summer months you can hop on the Estes Park Shuttle for a stress free visit to the local shops and restaurants.
This is an open floor plan with 3 stories. The Main floor consists of a large kitchen with utensils, and a dining room table that seats 10. Just off the kitchen is the family room with two couches and gas fireplace and a picturesque view of Long’s Peak. Equipped with Wireless Internet service, a large, flat screen TV with DIRECTV Satellite Service and DVD, this room provides the comforts of your own home.
This level also has the Master bedroom w/King Bed, flat screen TV w/ DIRECTV Satellite Service and DVD, spacious master bath with jetted tub, the utility room with half bath, washer/dryer, and access to the 600sf wrap around deck. On the deck is a propane grill and picnic table.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, one w/Queen and twin beds, the other with a King bed, and between the rooms a full bath.
The Bottom floor has large, community sleeping area (we call it the dorm room') with a queen, twin and trundle beds and a full bath. New heating system installed downstairs in 2009.
Please check our list of beds to determine your use.
**The house is located 1/2 mile from the YMCA, 3 miles from downtown, with 5 minute access to the Big Thompson River and 20 min walking distance to Moraine Park in RMNP.
*Rocky Mountain National Park has over 350 miles of hiking trails, with over half above tree line. Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the U.S. reaching 12,200 ft above sea level in its 20 mile stretch across the tundra.
Our neighborhood is quiet and a few hundred yards from the boundary to RMNP.
Hiking, fishing, biking, and wildlife abound.
We are the Zavada family from Ft. Myers, Florida. We started vacationing in Estes Park in 1994, returning almost every summer since. During that time we rented houses to stay in and shared our love of Estes with many other friends and family. We were blessed to be able to purchase our Estes home in 2007 and want to share the experiences we have had over the years with other lovers of Estes Park and families just now finding RMNP. We hope our home will be your home during your stay with us.
Randy Zavada purchased this house in 2007
We find this to be the best location for families. We are within a half mile of the YMCA of the Rockies, with all its many activities for families both young and old. We are a few hundred yards from the Big Thompson river for avid fishermen. From the house there is a trail that leads you to Moraine Park in RMNP, about a 20 minute hike. Our neighborhood is wonderful with great neighbors and lots of wildlife that routinely crosses our yards. We are also 5 minutes from the park and 5 minutes to town by car.
Our home is open and roomy. Our kitchen table can seat 10 (and we have even squeezed 12) and is perfect for family get togethers. If you love to hike or fish, you can do so without the use of a car with the close by trails and rivers. Wildlife viewing is like no other place we have visited. From our deck we have seen elk, deer, turkeys, coyotes, and even bears and their cubs.
For days that may be cloudy, we have two HD flat screen TVs with DirecTV and wireless internet access in the house. We are more than happy to provide our knowledge of Estes Park and RMNP to our guests, just ask!
The Beary Happy Cabin hosted our best family vacation with a great place for home base as we explored Estes Park, Boulder and the Rocky Mountain National Park! Our 50th Anniversary was celebrated with children, spouses and 7 grandchildren from Cincinnati, Boulder, Tucson and Edinboro, PA. At the end of the week, our grandchildren received their Junior Ranger Badges at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center close by. We enjoyed the spacious, open floor plan with lots of room for family time with games, meals at three large tables in the kitchen and on the porch and sleeping arrangements on three floors. Since our son has climbed the diamond of Longs Peak, the awesome view of this mountain from the cabin was very special. We were warmly welcomed by the neighbors who also invited us to come again on the last day of our vacation. We are so thankful that Randy shared his lovely cabin with us and appreciated his quick responses to email questions.
Happy trails to all who come to visit in the future!
we would recommend this property to anyone! Has all the amenities you could want including washer and dryer so we could keep up with laundry during the week. We were two families of seven total and had plenty of room not even using the lower dorm room. If we had happened to have a rainy wash out day where we would needed to have stayed in there were games, books and movies as well as countless books and materials on wildlife and history and points of interest in the area. The property is very close to downtown Estes Park (can hop the shuttle if you don't want to drive) YMCA and Rocky Mountain National Park is almost in the backyard! Beautiful view of Longs Peak! The Big Thompson runs right across the street. Planning on a return visit in 2017!
My extended family of 12 rented the home for 4 nights in late July. It was perfect for us. We used the grill once and otherwise cooked most meals in the spacious kitchen, which had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated the 3 1/2 baths. What we liked most about the house were the scenic trails close-by. Numerous deer strolled through the area everyday. It was close enough to town, RMNP and various restaurants and activities. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The owner was nice to work with.
We had a blast…..starting off the vacation with a lot of excitement as a bear wondered around the cabin. Your next door neighbor was very accommodating and BRAVE in shooing away the bear. We loved having the YMCA just a couple minutes away. It was perfect for the entire family, ages 3 to grandparents……lots of choices for adventure.
We have an annual family reunion and have already talked about renting the cabin again in the near future. The location and accommodations made our stay easy and fun.
Thank you so much!
The house was perfect for our annual extended-family vacation week, that included a wedding a Wild Basin Lodge. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed, the kitchen was great for cooking meals for 10+, and the location was convenient for excursions into the park - by car or on foot. Owners were helpful when we had questions. Highly recommend the property.
Lots of space and nice layout for large gatherings. Well maintained, with everything you may need for a great stay in RMNP. Appreciated close proximity to the park and trailheads and the abundance of hiking books, maps etc. they have for making good hiking choices. Would not hesitate recommending this property to others.
Snow shoeing and Mountain Climbing in the park. Skiing is 1 hour away @ Eldora Ski resort. Denver 90 minutes away.
