About Ryan

I live in Las Vegas, NV with my wife Julie and our 4 kids.

I have been a medical sales rep. for 10 years.

Ryan purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Ryan chose Utah

My wife and I fell in love with Zion National park and our cabin area after my Uncle organized a family reunion in the area. We purchased a one acre parcel and built our cabin in 2007. We love making family memories in our cabin and the surrounding area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were here for our annual women's retreat and we absolutely love your home. The decor is beautiful, the house is beautiful. We appreciate you opening up your home to us and we just thank God for leading us to Zion Ponderosa Ranch. We will most definitely be back! Thank you.

Stunning property

  • 5 of 5

We would personally like to thank the owners for allowing us to rent their beautiful cabin in Zion. Having 5 kids limits us on what type of vacation we can take. I am so happy we bit the bullet this time and went for it. We've never had a "real" vacation before and we were beyond excited for our Zion trip. It definitely did not disappoint!! The cabin is absolutely stunning, the location is perfect and super close to ponderosa where the kids could have some down time at the pool. They also loves the zip line, rock climb and Chuck wagon ride and cowboy dinner. They also loved playing ping pong at the cabin and exploring around the property. They keep asking when we can come back again!!! 😍 I'd say that's a "win" for all of us. Thanks again and God Bless!

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We used this beautiful cabin as our base camp while we visited Bryce Canyon, Zion Canyon, and the Grand Canyon. We were a family of twelve. Six adults and six children. What a great trip.

We had a fabulous time at this beautiful home. Five large bedrooms, 4.5 baths just as described! Very well stocked kitchen for serving large crowds. We had 10 adults and everyone was very comfortable with lots of space. Deck is a great place to hang after hiking all day at Zion. Location is perfect for using both Zion and Bryce. Avoids all the congestion of Springdale and the southern/western entrance of the park. Highly recommend.

You will love this cabin and the location!

  • 5 of 5

This wasn't our first vacation to Zion, but it is our favorite by far! We have our own cabin a few hours away, so we are a little particular about how comfortable and functional other cabins are. This exceeded our expectations! There is plenty of room, all the appliances are updated (nicer than the ones in our home!), never ending hot water (this makes it worth it alone) and beds are comfortable.

The location is perfect and next year, we won't "shop around" for a cabin - we will be staying here every year. We are already planning a trip to return! It has access to a community center (you are far enough away for privacy and close enough to be there in 5 min). It has two fun swimming pools, a basketball court, tennis court and activities. We enjoyed the zip line, horseback riding, ATV rides and rock climbing.

We were close to some of the most popular hikes in Zion and at the end of the day, we had plenty of room to relax vs being on top of each other in other cabins (we had 19 people). The ping pong table was a hit and we loved the fire pit.

We had 11 adults and 8 kids - it really is perfect for all ages. They have a high chair and pack n play. they also have plenty of linens. They have r/o water, so you don't have to pack a ton of water (noteworthy).

You will love it here!

Large & Spacious Home Near Zion National Park - very isolated.

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our family reunion over Spring Break with our adult children & grandchildren. Plenty of room for all. Fortunately we are all healthy & active so Hiking Zion was our main activity. The only other thing there for kids was the Ping Pong Table but the little ones could not play much. We did not have access to any pool or games- very isolated. The BBQ was very dirty & we finally got 3 burners to work when 1 was turned off. Dishwasher had no rinse agent & didn't clean well. Hot water ran cold on me after I put conditioner on my hair so had to wait till morning to rinse. Glad we brought our own games for kids & we did enjoy the 6 mile hike to Observation Point.

It's my first VRBO rental & it seemed overpriced @ $2580 for 3 nights compared to daughter's experience in St. George. It is a lovely home. Would be nice if they added a basketball hoop, & maybe passes for guests to use the facilities at Ponderosa Pines Lodge, or free horseback riding. Our boys would have loved to use the 4 wheelers in the garage! Also the owners should think about putting auto shades in the living room to filter morning sunshine through the large windows. We had to wear sunglasses to sit in there. And since the fireplace is locked - they should keep an extra couch in front of it for extra sitting space. The pantry door was locked so we had no place to store our extra food and supplies. We loved Zion's & got good night sleep. Would be a great place to bring mountain bikes. L. Campbell

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your feedback on our lovely home. You are correct, we are not in the Ponderosa rental program, but you do have access to the recreation barn, the swimming pool & spa (2), and all of the other activities. All of the activities are an additional cost whether you are a guest of the Ponderosa or a guest of MountainStar. I'm sorry the BBQ was dirty. It will be cleaned and working properly ASAP. I do not keep a rinsing agent in the dishwasher because of the adverse effect of the high mineral content in the water. In order to combat this, I have installed two whole-house filters on the main water line to filter sediment and some of the many minerals. I have also installed a top-of-the-line Kinetico soft water system. After adding these two filter systems it dramatically improved the dishwasher's ability to clean the dishes. I'm not sure why you had a problem with the on-demand Rinnai tankless water heater. I will have it check out. Usually, it offers unlimited water without a problem. We used to keep puzzles, books, & games in the closet under the stairs, but over time they were taken or destroyed, so we decided not to keep replacing them. We do keep a bumbo seat, high chair, and pack & play in the closet for the little ones. I would love to allow renters to ride the 4-wheelers, but there is too much liability. If they got a simple flat tire while out riding, there wouldn't be a way to get it fixed and back to the cabin - sorry. The basketball hoop might be possible. Let me look into the HOA regulations. Thanks for the idea. I also have thought about adding large shades for the living room windows, but they don't make anything that big. Most people love the sun and the views, but I do understand that it can get pretty bright. We just purchased two new large leather couches for the living room for more seating. One of the couches used to be a loveseat, so now we have a little more seating. As you know we put the other leather couches in the garage to give guests (kids) another space to hang out and play ping-pong. The guest pantry is under the stairs. We have plenty of shelving in that area for all of the extra food. Some guest will keep extra food in the garage next to the second refrigerator so they don't clutter up the kitchen area. I've been told that guests really like that because they don't have to drag everything in the house. I really appreciate the feedback to make things better at MountainStar.

Car: necessary

Our Cabin is situated in an area called Zion Ridge that backs up to Zion National Park.

Although we are tucked away amongst the Ponderosa Pines outside Zion, we are very close to several other great areas of interest:

Brian Head Ski Resort (73 miles), Bryce Canyon N.P. (75 miles), Cedar Breaks N.P. (62 miles), Lake Powel (91 miles), Navajo Lake (51 miles), & Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park (25 miles).

If you are not interested in taking a short drive to these areas, you can take a short walk (300 yards) to an adjacent small mountain resort with many activities such as: ATV riding, horseback riding, shooting, paintballing, archery, zip line, a rock climbing wall, basketball/tennis court, horseshoes, and many other activities for adults and kids alike.

Don't be fooled, these activities are great fun, but it is sometimes more fun to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Other Activities: Rock Wall, ATV's, Zip Line, Paint Ball, Billiards, Ping Pong

Golf: There is a Par-3 golf course about 12 miles from the cabin at Mt Carmel junction.

Ski: Brian Head Ski Resort is the main resort most Las Vegans travel to for great Utah Snow Skiing.
