About Mary Looram, Looram and Associates LLC.

My husband and I purchased this home when he was stationed at Ft. Ord. We have 5 children and needed a big home. It was a wonderful place to bring up our family. Now they live all over the world. We need to be in New York but we gather together from time to time at Willow Street. Our family has grown to 19 with 8 grandchildren.

Mary Looram, Looram and Associates LLC. purchased this house in 1975

What makes this house unique

We love the Victorian bones of our home with high ceilings and stained glass windows. It is a bright, cheery ,comfortable home perfect for families getting together to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

We enjoy the backyard because of it's privacy using the hot tub and fire pit. A great place to hang out at the end of the day.

We loved Pacific Grove

  • 5 of 5

We all had a fantastic time at this house, which is a very comfortable and charming family home. Everything was as described on the website and all very clean and well-maintained.

Upstairs there is a large den which the kids loved - this worked very well for us when we wanted to enjoy peace and quiet around the fire downstairs. The front porch was another favourite area - we spend many hours there in the morning with our coffee watching the world go by.

Location is a very big advantage to staying here - the beach, and lovely shops and restaurants of Pacific Grove are a 5 minute walk away. The walk into Monterey to visit the aquarium (do not miss) is around 1/2 hour (slow pace) and follows the coast. The street the house is on is very quiet. We saw deer running down the road a number of times in the morning.

The owner of this property is a pleasure to deal with - prompt replies to emails and very helpful. We arrived to a fresh bunch of flowers, bottle of wine and welcoming card - thanks very much, Mary, we'd love to come back some day. My mother-in-law described staying at your home as life-enhancing and I agree.

Unbelievable Home VRBO was a simple process.

  • 5 of 5

The Loorman Mansion was exquisite! We walked a couple of blocks to the shops and restaurants in downtown PG and then another 3 blocks to Lovers Point and experienced the Seals birthing and Whale migration. What a week of experiences that will last a lifetime.

Comfortable beds. Lots of towels. Well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. Good heating. Great upstairs TV room for gathering. Only difficulty was one bathroom upstairs for 4 bedrooms and 8 people. A second bath downstairs helped. Great location for walking to Pacific Grove

Owner's Response: Hi MaryEllen, So happy your family enjoyed your stay at our home. I wish we could have another bathroom upstairs. Unfortunately, we are blocked from doing that by the city because of the water situation. When our family is in residence we have a rule, no putting on make up or reading in the bathroom. :) Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Hope you can come again sometime. Sincerely, Mary Looram

Most glitch free vacation rental yet

  • 5 of 5

Our family has rented vacation homes nine times and really appreciate that people are willing to share their homes with renters. This time we were concerned that our brief stay (3 nights) would prevent us from getting the most out of the home since we have usually experienced a "learning Period" during which we figure out logistics. But at this place we were greeted on our arrival by a lovely lady who walked us through the house and gave us all the information and ideas that we usually have to figure out for ourselves. We were also walked through on our departure so there was no question about how we treated and left the home. And the home was ideal for our group of 8 adults and 5 children ranging in age from one to nine years old. It was spacious and perfectly located for seeing the Monterey attractions and waterfront. Our only disappointment was not having more time there. We would certainly return to this home.

Can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

This house has so much character to it! It feels like a piece of history in Pacific Grove and I truly feel lucky to have stayed here with my family for a few days. It's located in walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and an amazing bakery (Pavels on Forest Ave). We did cook in the kitchen that was loaded with a lot of spices we were allowed to use plus plenty of cups and plates and everything else we could ask for. The kids loved running around in circles in the house. We had a 9 month old that napped so the rest of us would stay upstairs and nobody could hear anyone on the other level. The older kids could be loud upstairs and watch movies or play with some of the many games the house was stocked with while the baby slept downstairs. We were able to fit 3 kids comfortably in one room ( 2 in beds and one on a fold away floor pad). Plenty of towels for our family of 12 to not worry about doing laundry a lot. I love that there was a good amount of paper products for us so we only ended up buying some toilet paper and paper towels later on in the trip. Even soap was there to start us off in the bathrooms. We loved the hot tub and great space in the backyard to play around plus the warm fire pit which we roasted marshmallows in. There were pictures and articles about the family and house that made me feel like we sort of knew the owners. I loved the photos in the kitchen of the growing family that started as the owners back when they got married, then their family with 3 kids and many more that show weddings and grandkids. Even the height charts of everyone is still in the laundry room. So cute!

The location of the house was fantastic with a nice walk to Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium (about 20 minutes) and a lot of restaurants minutes away in downtown Pacific Grove. We drove easily and quickly to Point Lobos for tide pools and hiking, 17 mile drive (totally worth paying the $10 fee), Carmel, and Safeway and Trader Joe's for food. We walked to Nob Hill on the way home from the aquarium one day.

Our group had 2 grandparents, me and my husband plus our 3 kids, my brother and his wife plus baby, and my sister and her daughter. We had plenty of space with extra beds available from sofa beds. We had an excess of blankets, never ran out of hot water, and had plenty of space to get along the entire time and not get in each other's way. The 2 full bathrooms worked using one shower and keeping a toilet available
