We loved Pacific Grove

  • 5 of 5

We all had a fantastic time at this house, which is a very comfortable and charming family home. Everything was as described on the website and all very clean and well-maintained.

Upstairs there is a large den which the kids loved - this worked very well for us when we wanted to enjoy peace and quiet around the fire downstairs. The front porch was another favourite area - we spend many hours there in the morning with our coffee watching the world go by.

Location is a very big advantage to staying here - the beach, and lovely shops and restaurants of Pacific Grove are a 5 minute walk away. The walk into Monterey to visit the aquarium (do not miss) is around 1/2 hour (slow pace) and follows the coast. The street the house is on is very quiet. We saw deer running down the road a number of times in the morning.

The owner of this property is a pleasure to deal with - prompt replies to emails and very helpful. We arrived to a fresh bunch of flowers, bottle of wine and welcoming card - thanks very much, Mary, we'd love to come back some day. My mother-in-law described staying at your home as life-enhancing and I agree.

This is the perfect house for a reunion!

  • 5 of 5

This house offered lots of space, comfortable beds, a large well-equipped kitchen, and a lovely backyard with a hot tub and fire pit. Our group had the best time sitting around the kitchen table, talking, laughing, and eating. The location was great, too, with the downtown area plus Monterey and Carmel close by. Can't wait to come here again!

Spacious, very clean, with amenities

  • 4 of 5

This home is the place to stay if you have a large group. The house is very spacious with lots of room for everyone and is comfortably furnished. It also has a lovely front porch to sit on in the morning with your coffee or tea, plus a beautiful backyard with fragrant flowers that draw hummingbirds. The backyard also features a fire pit and a hot tub and plenty of patio chairs for everyone.

There were eight of us who stayed at this home; we enjoyed the house and enjoyed our stay. We especially loved the large round kitchen table where we congregated for meals, talk and card games.

Because the house is an original Victorian it's got some quirks but that's to be expected in an old historic home. Everything is functional and there's plenty of hot water to go around. It's a really beautiful home with huge windows that let in lots of light.

It's located off Lighthouse Rd, within walking distance of all the fun little shops, good restaurants and ice cream parlor, which are on Lighthouse Rd.

We'd like to book this house next year, too, if we can clear everyone's calendars in order to meet up.

Owner's Response: Thank you so very much for your lovely review. I am so happy you enjoyed our home with your family. As I have said to others, we brought up 5 children in this home and there were always lots of friends and family around. It never seemed crowded. The yard with deck and fire pit is like having another room. Having a formal living room for adults to visit downstairs and a big room for younger people upstairs who want to watch TV or play games allows everyone to have the space they need. Now that all my children are grown we have been able to update the house. I am always trying to improve it. Our family with grandchildren love getting together at the house. We love sharing it with other families. Would love to have you come back again. Sincerely, Mary Looram Looram & Associates LLC

Wonderful roomy accommodations with lots of amenities and character in a great location

  • 4 of 5

Our family spent Labor Day weekend at the Looram home for our nephew's wedding in Monterey. The house provided plenty of room for the 12 of us, including 4 grandchildren ages 4 and under. The common space upstairs was a great place for the kids to play and watch TV and still have the downstairs for adults to gather. We appreciated the well-appointed kitchen and the backyard with hot tub and fire pit really added a special dimension to our time together. The house seems particularly suited to family gatherings and being able to walk to coffee and breakfast, and even to the beach at Lover's Point were real bonuses.

Mary was very welcoming and timely in her emails to us ahead of time and the greeter provided all the information we needed to make the best use of the house and the area.

Owner's Response: Thank you Janet, I am happy our home was the gathering place for your family for your nephew's wedding. Our family always enjoys getting together there. We too love the fact that the living room can be a quiet place to chat and visit while the children are upstairs watching TV. It's nice to have the extra room on the deck and in the yard. We are fortunate to have that space for the hot tub and fire pit. Thanks for choosing our home for the happy occasion and for taking the time to write a review. Hope you can come back again. Sincerely, Mary Looram
