We loved Pacific Grove

  • 5 of 5

We all had a fantastic time at this house, which is a very comfortable and charming family home. Everything was as described on the website and all very clean and well-maintained.

Upstairs there is a large den which the kids loved - this worked very well for us when we wanted to enjoy peace and quiet around the fire downstairs. The front porch was another favourite area - we spend many hours there in the morning with our coffee watching the world go by.

Location is a very big advantage to staying here - the beach, and lovely shops and restaurants of Pacific Grove are a 5 minute walk away. The walk into Monterey to visit the aquarium (do not miss) is around 1/2 hour (slow pace) and follows the coast. The street the house is on is very quiet. We saw deer running down the road a number of times in the morning.

The owner of this property is a pleasure to deal with - prompt replies to emails and very helpful. We arrived to a fresh bunch of flowers, bottle of wine and welcoming card - thanks very much, Mary, we'd love to come back some day. My mother-in-law described staying at your home as life-enhancing and I agree.

Awesome family gathering spot

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for a family reunion--the actual reunion was at another venue--and felt at home in the Looram home. Three different families stayed at the house, but others who stayed at other places came to gather at our place while visiting. The backyard and hot tub were popular with everyone, and well as the upstairs living room late at night. Enjoyed the board games available, too. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Having beach towels and laundry facilities were a big plus, especially since most people were visiting CA for extended periods of time. Mary sent us plenty of helpful information in advance regarding area restaurants and activities--the home is conveniently located to many places and things to do! I highly recommend the Looram home for any type of gathering; I know all of us agreed that we would stay here again if ever visiting Monterey. Thanks for providing such an awesome family gathering spot...great memories for us!

Perfect setting for a runner's reunion

  • 5 of 5

We returned to this house for the 2nd Half Marathon on Monterey Bay in two years. My friends and I loved the warmth and good energy of this house and it accommodates a large group of friends who enjoy being together in the living room, backyard firepit and hot tub. The kitchen is well-equipped to handle cooking post-race brunch for many people and there are ample glasses, plates and utensils for a large gathering.

We like the location just off Lighthouse Ave and we walked to view the ocean at Lover's Point and down Lighthouse for meals.

Liane and the owners are easy to work with and even provided extra Aquarium tickets for our group! We had a lovely stay and would recommend this house for anyone who wants a memorable stay in Pacific Grove.

Owner's Response: Thank you Naomi and friends, I was so happy when you requested your second stay at our home. I am grateful that the work of my greeters, cleaners, maintenance people and my updates to our home warranted another stay. We love sharing our home because we feel it is comfortable for groups, and yet has enough room to let folks have their privacy. The location of being 2 & 1/2 blocks from Lovers Point and the bay is also added value. Thanks for writing a review so future guests read it from past guests and not just me. Warm Regards, Mary

Great family getaway spot!

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a great time in the big house. It was a perfect, comfortable venue for us to visit and enjoy each other's company. We loved the big round kitchen table that allowed us to visit over meals and the fire pit was a wonderful spot for drinks outside. The kids and adults alike found the hot tub fun and relaxing. Mary was exceptionally responsive and we had no issues with the house. The house was in a great location, close to downtown Pacific Grove, and minutes away from Cannery Row and the Aquarium. If you have a large group, this is a fantastic place for you. We had a group of eight, and if there was any negative, it was that there were only two bathrooms. A minor inconvenience, if one at all. Overall, we were exceptionally happy with our experience.

Pacific Grove Home

  • 5 of 5

The house was charming and well maintained and functional for large groups. We were a group of 8 and there was plenty of room for all to be comfortable. The fire pit was awesome as we sat outside and had cocktails and chatted for a couple of hours. Mary and Brenda were a pleasure to work with and we would definitely come again when in area.

Perfect home and location for our family gathering

  • 4 of 5

We want to thank Mary and her husband for the opportunity of staying at their charming Victorian home in Pacific Grove CA. Our son was getting married and we had family there for five nights from FL, NC and CA. Wonderful spot to gather with parents, aunts, uncles, sisters, brother and four twenty year old cousins! Plenty of room, with five bedrooms, large upper TV room and large kitchen and dining room. Had the rehearsal buffet (40 people) outside on the grass and lg. deck with hot tub and fire pit (which we needed on chilly nights.) The tkts to the Monterey Bay Aquarium were a lovely bonus as that aquarium in world class. We love Pacific Grove and Monterey for all that is going on there and walking distance to ocean, restaurants, shopping, etc. Great customer connections with Mary and her representatives!!
