Now that we've been there several times, we've found some local favorites that keep us coming back (especially the restaurants)! Be sure to check out our recommendations below when you're in the area.
Our Favorite Scottsdale Places to Eat:: Flo's Asian Kitchen - 10 minute drive located at 16495 N Scottsdale Rd. --- Carlos O'Brien's Mexican Restaurant - 5 minute drive located at 7111 East Bell Road. --- Streets of NY Pizza - 5 minute drive located at Pima & Frank Lloyd Wright. --- Sugar Bowl Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant - 15 minute drive located in the heart of Old Scottsdale at 4005 N Scottsdale Rd.
Favorite Places We've Visited in Scottsdale:: Dreamy Draw Recreation Area - Hiking, biking and horse-back riding mountain trails showcasing native plants in their natural habitat. 20 minute drive on I-10 Freeway to SR-51. Take SR-51 Northbound to the Northern Ave exit and turn right (East). This will take you right into the Dreamy Draw recreation area.
--- McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park - A fun family location with a large children's playground, carousel and historic Pullman train. 10 minute drive located at 7301 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale.
--- Old Town Scottsdale. 15 minute drive located on Scottsdale Rd between Indian School and Camelback Rds. The best place we found for a variety of souvenirs. Our favorite store: Scottsdale Southwest at 7221 E 1st Ave (just two blocks from the Sugar Bowl).
--- Desert Botanical Gardens. 15 minute drive to 1201 N. Galvin Parkway, Phoenix. 50 acres of beautiful outdoor exhibits home to 139 rare, threatened and endangered plant species from around the world.
Couldn't of found a better, more comfortable "home away from home" to stay in while visiting our son. Tour of Taliesin is fabulous...a must! We drove around taking in the scenery. Blue Adobe, Maggianos, Portebellos, SOL at Kirkland were all very good restaurants. We were very satisfied to stay in for dinner a few nights and grill out. The condo was most accommodating and hope to come back again. Thank you, Georgia!
I stayed in this condo for a week while in Scottsdale on business. Returning to this lovely condo every evening made the trip seem more like a vacation and at the fraction of the cost of nearby hotels. The condo was perfectly decorated and every amenity possible was available. To top it all off, the owners were wonderful to work with and extremely responsive. You can't go wrong with this one.
We had a lovely stay in the condo just after new year, bit chilly but 7 days of sun as always in AZ. The pool was nice and heatet. Nice location neer the 101 and lost of shopping close.
The condo is very nice decorated and it all clean, will use this agin if traveling to Scottsdale.

It really was a home away from home. The unit was supplied with much more than we expected with a fully stocked bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper), kitchen (condiments, beautiful dinnerware, d/w soap, towels, baking pans, etc.) comfortable beds, beautiful cool tile. It was warm and relaxing and the heated pool at the beginning and end of the day was a bonus. We were chauffeured around by friends so what we know of convenient location was expressed by them. It was close to grocery store, restaurants they wanted to take us to and an expressway away from the school's graduation we were attending. Georgia was spot on in responding to our questions and helpful with choices. Can't think of a place we'd rather stay to make Phoenix a nice place to visit.
We are repeat renters of the bartoncondo.com properties, but this was our first stay at this particular unit. As with the other properties, it was top-notch. High end appliances, granite countertops, comfortable furniture for relaxing, etc. and only steps to the barbque grill and pool. Pictures and description are completely accurate. Location of 101/Raintree makes getting anywhere easy. Georgia is very easy to work with and you will not be disappointed.
My husband and I have rented on homeaway.com several times. This condo was, by far, the best experience we have had yet.
This condo has all the comforts of home and is tastefully decorated. There was plenty of room and couldn't have been closer to the pool. Even being so close to the pool, it was quiet every evening. We spent several days just lounging by the pool and also found is relaxing to come home to after a day of visiting family and sight seeing. I was a little disappointed that the pool closes promptly at 10pm and doesn't open until 9am. Early morning swims were out of the question because of this!
The property and the condo were exceptionally clean. The kitchen was fully stocked. The furnishings were comfortable. The patio was spacious. The closets and bathrooms were roomy and well stocked with linens, extra pillows and blankets and beach towels. There were lots of pool toys in the patio closet and DVDs in the entertainment center. There was even a small cooler and wagon in the closet that was perfect for bringing everything to the pool for the day and not having to move! I truly needed to do nothing but show up!
We were able to grocery shop for the week and prepare all our meals which was important to us. There was a Whole Foods within 4 miles as well as a Super Walmart, Target, Albertsons and Safeway. It was nice to have so many choices. There was a Dunking Donuts and Jamba Juice close by. The neighborhood was perfect for early morning walks. There were many nice people to talk with at the pool and community center.
We would certainly reccommend this property and will certainly rent from these owners again. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things here.....

We couldn't ask for a more beautiful condo to stay in during our first vacation to AZ. It was immaculate, pleasing to the eye, and had all the comforts of home. The pool was in plain view from the L.R., and the pool was just beautiful and clean!!! It was definitely worth the money. We are actually going to be relocating to that area before the winter her in PA. NYPD pizza was the best! Their cheesecake is also to die for!!!
