Located on Old Garth Rd. just beyond the back entrance to Farmington Country Club, this house is convenient to both UVA and Barracks Road Center, and is only 32 mi. from skiing at Wintergreen. Positioned high above the road amongst tall trees on a three acre lot, the house lends a sense of privacy. In the back, a flagstone terrace surrounded by natural flora and huge azaleas provides a great place to enjoy Charlottesville's awesome weather. Inside, feel right at home in the beautiful kitchen and great room. The upstairs contains three bedrooms and three baths, while across a short breezeway along one side of the patio are two more bedrooms and a bath. This house is great for one large family, two families, or even a group of friends in town for a reunion.
The Old Garth house was the perfect choice for our girls weekend. There was plenty of room for the ten of us to spread out and plenty of beds for everyone. The house and grounds are lovely - we only wish the weather had been even warmer so we could have enjoyed the patio! The house is conveniently located to groceries, breakfast, and just a short cab away from downtown Charlottesville. I will definitely recommend this house to any friends planning a visit to the area.
Perfect home for a getaway. It is not only beautiful, but it had *everything* we needed. From tin foil to birthday candles, don't worry about forgetting anything because chances are you will be able to find it in the house! This is my second time staying in this home and, like the first time, it was perfect.
There are 2 bedrooms in the wing (1 master with a king and a second bedroom with a twin trundle) and 3 bedrooms upstairs (2 rooms with 2 twin beds and 1 bedroom with a queen). There are also 2 love-seats in the main family room which pull out into twin beds. So, more than enough room!
The thing I love most about this home is that it is very spacious but feels very cozy. If people want to have a late conversation/hang out in the family room, it doesn't disturb anyone in other parts of the house.
Patrick is very quick to respond to all questions/emails which put my mind at ease while planning our stay. We will definitely be back!
This property was perfect for our group of 8 women. Plenty of beds and bathrooms and a dining room table large enough to seat everyone. The decor is tasteful and the home had everything we needed for a lovely, relaxing weekend. We would definitely book this property again for a Charlottesville trip!
Our family of 9, including 2 toddlers, had a delightful stay over Thanksgiving. The location of the home is wonderful....grocery and needed shopping is close by but so is Monticello and the fabulous walking trails there. We enjoy cooking together and while the kitchen is not large the adjacent laundry area had additional counter space which acted as our overflow pantry and the kitchen was very well equipped for meal prep. The rooms are large and sunny and each bedroom has its own bath. We had a wonderful stay!
We were very comfortable in this lovely home, everything was in good working order, and owner was available by phone to aid with check in and answer questions. Set-up was ideal for our large family and the grandparents, who were delighted to have a wing to themselves. Altogether 7 people and we could have fit more! The area was quiet, green, and pleasant.
Old Garth is a wonderful home, beautifully maintained and decorated and perfect for hosting a family for a wedding weekend, great floor plan. The extra first floor wing with two bedrooms ( a king bed plus a room with a trundle bed ) was an added bonus that helped us accommodate everyone. We had a destination wedding in Charlottesville and needed a home that could accommodate our family and allow us to entertain extended family and friends for small functions prior and post wedding day. This house was perfectly situated, away from the busy bustle of the campus but close enough that it was easy to get to downtown and the Boars Head. Most guests stayed at the Boars Head, a stones throw away. The owner was very responsive to inquiries and making sure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, and it was. Would love another excuse to head back to this home away from home, I highly recommend it.
In Charlottesville, enjoy UVA and all of its history and events, including UVA sports and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Virginia wine has vastly improved over the past 10 years; and dozens of wineries dot the countryside.
