We have just spent the most relaxing and wonderful ten days at Le Marronier, it was simply perfect in every way, the whole holiday made even better by the warmth and sincerity of the owners Rosemary and Steve, whos only desire is to make your holiday perfect in every way
In rural area, peaceful and near to villages and historical sites. Rosemary and Steve provided booklets and maps for the area. Very comfortable with all mod coms. Definitely would recommend and give this a Michelin 5 star.
The cottage is to a very high standard. Elegant throughout. You feel instantly relaxed.
We stayed here for just 3 nights to watch a stage of the Tour de France.
Steve and Rosemary were so nice, very friendly nothing too much trouble and interesting to chat to.
The property has been renovated beautifully, comfortable all you could need - cooker, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker but most importantly corkscrew ! Lounge was lovely and comfortable, nice seating outside when the side decided to join us! was almost a shame to go out !!
Surrounding area is also lovely, the Tour was incredible quite a spectacle. Saint Marie du Mont has some very nice cafe / restaurants to chill out in.
The whole are is ideal for both the DDay memorials but also to simply chill out and relax.
Would we recommend to anyone else?
We certainly plan to return
The cottage is very comfortable and is fitted out to a high standard, with everything you could want for your stay.It is located in a quiet location but is well placed for the D Day museums and historic locations.
Rosemary and Steve are attentive hosts;it is reassuring to have them close by should a problem arise, but still giving you your own space. We can't wait to stay al Le Marronier again!
I have just returned from a 5 week stay at Le Marronier, a location I chose as I needed a peaceful location to work on a book draft. My secondary purpose in choosing Le Marronier was for me to indulge my life long interest in the D Day landings and the battles that followed this epic world changing event. Le Marronier is wonderfully positioned as access to Utah and the other D Day beaches is easy. The same applies to the numerous related museums throughout the region. Steve and Rosemary are wonderful hosts who quickly became my friends. All possible facilities at Le Marronier have been thoughtfully considered, the property was clean and welcoming from the outset. I intend to return and highly recommend Le Marronier to anyone seeking a quiet location set in rustic and beautiful Lower Normandy. My thanks again to Steve and Rosemary for making me feel so much at home.
The cottage is in the centre of the D-Day and Normandy landings area and close to Utah Beach. The American and German cemeteries are nearby as are museums and wonderfully preserved World War II fortifications and underground complexes which are open to the public.
Local Norman cuisine and in particular mussels, oysters and mackerel are (in season) available straight off the boat.
Mont St Michel, Bayeux and beautiful fishing villages such as St Vaast la Houge and Barfleur are in easy driving distance as is Barnville-Carteret, the international sailing venue.
