3 Bedroom Cottage, Sleeps 5. Suitable for families, couples & groups
About Heather Waugh
Our parents originally bought this house as their retirement home and my brother and I now own it. We grew up in Colchester and although our parents moved to Kent when we grew up they returned to the area when they retired and stumbled upon this lovely cottage whilst out for a walk one day, it was love at first sight. We are both busy professionals with families but our roots remain in the Colchester area and we love this house for its tranquil location, it's warm atmosphere and its happy family memories. We all regularly use the cottage as a retreat and for family get togethers.
Heather Waugh purchased this Cottage in 2007

You just can't beat the view, it's quite something to open the curtains in the morning and gaze out across the uninterrupted river view. The house is spacious and adaptable and Rowhedge is quite and friendly and very convenient with easy access to roads. In 10 minutes you can either be on the beach in one direction or in the town in the other. The surrounding area provides a large and diverse cross-section of sights, activities, entertainment, shopping and restaurants.

Excellent holiday lovely place and house
An amazing place
The location is amazing. Such a beautiful spot. Really easy to get to the places we wanted to also. Highly recommend.
Great Cottage, Great Location
A week in May at this wonderful cottage in Rowhedge. Comfortable, well equipped and with a marvellous location right by the River Colne with views over to the Marshes and Wivenhoe beyond.
Well placed for exploring the much underated county of Essex - e.g. Mersea, Tollesbury, Abberton Reservoir, Heybridge and Maldon, Walton, Frinton. Better still the wonderful Fingringhoe Nature Reserve is a few minutes down the road.
Beautiful and picturesque cottage in a lovely and quiet location
Cottage was very comfortable with everything you would expect if you were in your own home. We were a couple with an 18 month baby and we had plenty of space. Extremely easy to checkin checkout. Communication with owner's very straightforward.
Lots to do within a 20 minute drive plus the local ferry to Wivenoe in the summer is a must. I would highly recommend for a lovely long weekend or week break.
Nice furniture and well equipped kitchen. Very clean and bright. Sunny courtyard garden with large table and chairs. Nothing needed not provided. Good gastro pub and coop very short walk. However, extremely creaky floors, next doors as well hence disturbed sleep. River a bit smelly at low tide.
Lovely cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location.
Everything you need is provided for in the cottage. Very handy having a co-op just around the corner and the local pub is also friendly and serves good food. I would not hesitate to recommend this waterfront cottage.
Rowhedge is a quiet village 4 miles east of the town centre of historic Colchester with its excellent shopping, restaurants and entertainment facilities. Rowhedge is also within very easy reach of the sea front at East and West Mersea, Brightlingsea, Clacton and Walton, and less than a hours drive from the Suffolk coastal towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold.
the village is a delightful place with good local amenities including a Co-op, Post Office and the Anchor pub and restaurant.
