About Jennie or Andy Cline
We have been summer residents of this area since the 1960's and 70's and recently retired here year round after 31 years of teaching in a private school in Massachusetts.
Jennie or Andy Cline purchased this Cottage in 1998
Why Jennie or Andy Cline chose Southwest Harbor
This cottage was originally built in the 1950's as an extension to the main house, which sits nearby, providing much needed extra bedrooms. In 1998 we renovated and added onto the cottage, turning a small bedroom into a laundry and pantry area and creating a hallway which leads to the generous family living space with kitchen/dining/living area. The house now has it's own private driveway and entrance off Shore Road.
What makes this Cottage unique
This cozy cottage is located on the quiet, but very scenic Shore Road. Walk out the driveway and turn left for a spectacular 2 mile walk 'around the block.' The walk will take you through 2 working boatyards, past the town dock and ferries to the outer islands, bus stops for the free seasonal island bus service, and two boat rental businesses, all while enjoying spectacular views of the Great Harbor of Mount Desert, Somes Sound, and the mountains of Acadia.

Cozy, clean, quiet cottage. Perfect retreat after hiking & biking Acadia NP.
Our family of four was comfortable in the cottage. It was outfitted with everything we needed. The location is near town, but away from the crowds — highly recommend!
Beautiful inside and out. Very clean. Unfortunately my husband is very sensitive to animals and couldn’t sit on couches as there must have been a dog around at some point.
Maine at It’s Best
This cozy cottage is a perfect getaway for a Maine adventure. It has everything you need and it’s room enough for four. The quiet location is close to Southwest Harbor yet neatly landscaped to enjoy the ducks, deer and other animals. We will definitely come back again.
Spruce cottage is just what our family needed! It has all the amenities as home including comfortable beds. You are close enough to the action of Bar Harbor but far enough to relax with the ducks!
What a lovely, quaint cottage! This place was so well equipped that we didn’t need to bring any games, etc, for grandkids to play on our one rainy day! Andy Cline was VERY personable and also checked in with us during our stay. We would definitely recommend Spruce cottage to anyone who was planning a Bar Harbor trip.
Acadia is one of the most popular National Parks in the country. Many miles of hiking trails for all abilities. Carriage roads for hiking, biking, or horse drawn carriage rides. Abundant scenic views accessible by car or on foot. Cadillac Mountain is the highest point on the Atlantic coast of the U.S. and the first place to see the sunrise each morning.
Nearby Spruce Cottage: Boat rentals, Ferry to outer islands, Free island shuttle bus stop. Restaurant within walking distance. Short drive for other top notch eating locations, hiking, swimming, sight-seeing, shopping, and more.
