Fishing Cove is a fully-furnished eight-bedroom six-bath waterfront family-friendly house tucked away in a lush pine forest. Our waterfront vacation home is on a very private cove with 2 acres of waterfront property and a large private dock and 3 boat slips. Easy access by car, or by boat from the Chesapeake Bay.
Drink your morning coffee on our 12' x 72' deck watching the birds and deer. Fish and crab from our pier. Swim in our pool. Our large welcoming house has everything you need for a relaxed vacation on the Eastern Shore, including accessibility features - electric wheelchair lift, ramps and wide main floor doors.
Located on Fishing Creek off the Little Choptank 9 miles from Cambridge, Maryland, we are near Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, and our shoreline attracts an amazing variety of waterfowl. We have great bicycling roads: Flat and scenic, so bring your bikes. Bring your canoe and explore the shoreline. The house is wonderful any time of the year!
Sorry, we cannot accommodate weddings or wedding receptions.
With 3 married children and five grandchildren we added a second floor to Fishing Cove to accommodate all of us as well as our friends. When our family isn't using Fishing Cove we offer it to other families so they can enjoy it as much as we do!
Virginia Rubsam purchased this house in 1999
We bought this house because of its PERFECT location. It is only 60 miles from Annapolis so getting there is easy, going from the hustle of city life to perfect peace in an hour's drive. It started out as a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that we enlarged and improved to fit the needs of our own large extended family. Then we decided to offer it to other large families for their vacations so they can enjoy it too!
We have a large house with lots of space for multi-generational family get-togethers. There's something to do for everyone.
We enjoyed iur stay at the Fishing Cove as well as visiting Layton's Chance Winery and fun things in St. Michaels. The swimming pool was fine in terms of cleanliness and water temp.
Just returned from spending a week at fishing cove. The house is beautiful and comfortable. Ginger was very accomodating and I wouldn't hesitate in recomending this property.
Our multi-generation family had a wonderful time at Fishing Cove. The kids loved the pool. The whole family loved the pier where we caught crabs and where we brought our boat. The house has tons of space, and is furnished with everything a family would want, even a handicap lift for my 93 year old mother-in-law. The kitchen was especially well-equipped. The house and grounds were very clean and well-maintained. The location is perfect with the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the water. We went bike riding at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. Ginger was very accommodating. We will return!
I stayed with a group of 11 adults and 2 small children for Memorial Day weekend, and we had a fabulous time at Fishing Cove. The house was perfect for our needs, with plenty of beds (including toddler beds in one room, and a crib in another, plus a pack-n-play) and enough bathrooms that every couple had their own. There was a dining table large enough for all of us to sit around, and plenty of space in two living rooms (one upstairs, one downstairs). Having two refrigerators in the kitchen was super convenient. It was only about a 10-15 minute drive from Cambridge and Route 50, and set back on a quiet, private cove. The house was clean and well maintained. The owner was super responsive and flexible, a pleasure to work with! The owner includes many things with the rental - sheets, towels, fully equipped kitchen, etc - all we had to do was show up! The house includes 2 rowboat which we did not use, but were a nice touch. The cove connects to a river so we were able to get out and do some kayaking. The dock is large and nice. The pool was clean and well maintained with a large surrounding deck, and plenty of seating outdoors. I would absolutely recommend this house for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing get away!
The setting can't be beat - private location with wonderful water views. It is close to Cambridge for easy shopping and restaurants, and to Blackwater Wildlife Refuge for biking and bird watching. There are two good golf courses nearby - one only 5 miles away.
We had lots of room for our large multi-generational family reunion. The upstairs bonus gathering area provided a place for the kids to play video games, etc. while the adults could mingle in the downstairs living room. We weren't crowded. The dining area could seat 12 - 14 of us, and the other table off the kitchen seats 6 - 8. The kitchen has 2 refrigerators and is easy for more than one cook to work at the same time.
The house was clean and well-maintained. My 90 year old father-in-law appreciated the handicapped lift. There was a crib, some youth beds and a Pak n Play, so we didn't have to lug a lot of stuff for the youngest kids. The pool was still open so we enjoyed hanging out on the deck and pool deck. The kids fished from the pier and played with the small rowboats. We caught (and ate) lots of crabs from the pier. We hope to return!
The house is located on a quiet cove, with a view of both sunrise and sunset, at the ended of a wooded, tree-lined private road. There is a dock to take out onto the water. Cambridge is 10 minutes away if you need to run to the store for anything. I took a 30-mile bike ride loop through Black Water Wildlife Refuge which was just spectacular. The house has many beds and many bathrooms. The house is well maintained, clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Heat and air all worked fine. Very comfortable. Large dining area. 2 refrigerators and a dishwasher. Owner is responsive and a delight to deal with.
Property was clean and comfortable. Well-stocked house included some basic (and unexpected) items such as trash bags, hand and dish-washing soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, and coffee filters. Bed linens and towels were provided. Location was lovely, quiet, and very private. Outside furniture was clean and comfortable; awning was perfect!
Remember your binoculars...we saw a bald eagle across the cove -- absolutely majestic, and awesome! Communication with homeowner was friendly and efficient. No complaints! Would not hesitate to rent again!
The Cambridge location is the heart of the Chesapeake Bay area and is a convenient drive from New York, Philadelphia, Ohio and Florida. Families gather from these and other areas to enjoy everything the Bay has to offer - the wildlife, the ocean and all the historical sites. There are also great restaurants, festivals, 2 world-class waterfront golf courses, tennis and boating of all types. Fishing, Crabbing and boating couldn't be better. Just tie up at our dock and take advantage of it all.
