The cottage is lakefront and approx. 200 ft. from a Private Town Beach, with 2 lifeguards. It doesn't get any better than this! If you are looking for laid back, relaxing, and just plain, old fashioned comfort, this is the best spot on the lake. There is a large deck in front to enjoy the view, and front & back 3 season porches. The cottage was built in the 1940's by my grandfather, and we have completely renovated the whole house in the past three years. The lake is stocked with Trout by the RI- D.E.M., and is a favorite of Northwest RI fishermen. Located two miles from the cottage is Historic Chepachet Village, a quaint little downtown area, with Brown and Hopkins General Store, which is the oldest General Store in continuous operation. There are also antique shops and restaurants, laundry, a grocery store, and post office. It is also the home of the 'Ancients and Horribles Parade', which is the second oldest Fourth of July Parade in this area next to Bristol, RI.
Chepachet is also historically important, as it was the sight of the Dorr Rebellion, we have several books at the cottage in reference to this famous battle.
We also have some other books that are all in reference to this area of the country that have known to be haunted! The famous Lizzie Borden house in Fall River, MA, is just about 40 minutes away, I have to say, that that it is a very interesting tour, very informative and also said to be haunted! Give it a try..

Rhonda Faria purchased this cottage in 1940
My family has owned the property for this house for over 70 years. We have enjoyed countless family cookouts, swimming and just relaxing, or going to the famous Fourth of July Parade downtown.
Our own Grandchildren love the porch swings on both front and back porches...and I am sure my Grandparents would be so proud of all the updates we have made...but also with love!
Get away from it all, but your still close enough to grab your morning coffee from Dunkin Donuts, less than 1 mile from the house! Great restaurants downtown, bakery, pharmacy, Post Office, Dunkin Donuts, or just take a ride in the countryside, there are plenty of maps at the house and a huge amount of pamphlets with tons of ideas of places to go.
A little piece of Heaven!
The cottage was every bit as charming as advertised and then some. The location was perfect and the owners couldn't be nicer. They even left us homebaked cookies and all the fixings for smoores - what more could you ask for.
We almost do not want to review this home in fear that it will be constantly booked and we won't be able to reserve it AGAIN:)
It is a quaint little cabin. The big difference from other houses we have rented is this IS a HOME!!! You feel that from the first conversation with Rhonda!
We WILL look to rent this cabin again!!!
Stayed for a week visiting family and the house was great. We have two young kids and Rhonda was nice enough to have a pack and play, highchair and kids bed already set up when we got there. Both the front and the back porch were great for the relatives to relax and enjoy time with the grandkids. People were leaving the same day we arrived and the place was fully cleaned and ready for our arrival. We flew in fairly late and Rhonda was more then happy to meet my father to show him around as well as give him keys prior to our arrival. We will look forward to another stay next time we are back.
My hubby and I just got back from a week staying at this cottage. We had our three grandkids spending the night with us. It was so much fun taking them fishing at the lake across the street and they even waded in the cold water at the beach. We found a hiking trail nearby. The porch is awesome to sit on and watch the otters in the pond. The beds were very comfortable and we did not need anything else. This is a great rental in Rhode Island. We flew into Warwick and it took about a half an hour to get to the cottage. Very pleased with our stay.
What a wonderful place to relax. Peaceful and quiet like home. So much fun meeting Rhonda and Dan, and hearing the history of this beautiful treasure. I love the pictures scattered throughout of the making of this heirloom. We were here for a week visiting family in Pascoag. The Autumn colors on the pond gave me many photo ops. The cottage is so well stocked with everything you could need, and the decor is absolutely priceless. Being a collector of family treasures myself made it extra special. Every room has character. I was impressed at the fact the owners even had "readers" lying around so i could see better! Husband made the recliner his, and I claimed the love seat each evening after visiting the kids and having dinner with them. Thanks Rhonda & Dan for providing this place,…and give cousin Winnie my best! Sincerely, Kathleen & Dave
Our family of 4 stayed at this quaint cottage and loved it, just like we had hoped.
Everything was just as described, which is to say this is not the Four Season luxury resort, it is a nice little 1940s cottage. If you want a fancy hotel room, go somewhere else. If you want a quiet, peaceful retreat, stay here.
With our 2 kids (10 and 13) we used the day bed and the futon for them and they had no complaints. The kitchen was well stocked, although we did not do any cooking, we did make use of the microwave, toaster and coffee maker. The bathroom is small, but gets the job done with plenty of hot water for showers. There is a washer and dryer that we did not end up using, but they do have some issues with iron in the water, so be careful with whites.
Sitting on the porch having my morning coffee was so peaceful, watch geese swim by in the pond. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Very centrally located, there is lots to do here, or just relax and do nothing at all! The cottage is 20 min. west of Providence, RI on Route 44; 20 min. east of Putnam, Ct, a huge antique town also on Rt. 44; 40 min. from Foxwoods & Mohegan Casinos, Rt. 44W to 395 S in Uncasville, CT. To the coastal beaches it is less than an hour. You can cross all of Rhode Island in less than an hour!
It is 20 Min. to the Federal Hill Section of Prov. RI, with an unbelievable selection of some of the finest Italian restaurants and bakeries this side of Italy!!! MANGIA!!!!!!!!!!
Columbus Day weekend is the Famous Scituate Art Festival, Downtown Scituate, RI Village, countless artists and artisans. Something for everyone in the family! And much, much more! 45 min. to historic and scenic Newport, RI w/ the mansions, beaches, shopping, dining and entertainment!
