Overview

About the property

Former 110-sq.m angler's house: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a pool &sauna

The blue house is south facing on the Côte Bleue in the Vesse Calanque. It is fully screened from the Mistral wind.

The air corner of paradise is scented with rosemary and thyme, cradled by the chirping cicadas. The 100-sq.m blue house is a former angler's house refurbished with high-quality materials for a great lifestyle all year round.

It is on two storeys.

The ground floor offers a spacious living / dining room with a large open plan kitchen. The kitchen features a 5-ring cooker with an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, a coffee maker, a teapot,a toaster, and an Espresso machine. The living room boasts a sofa bed, a table, and a Swedish insert fireplace. The whole house has electric heating.

The large picture window separates this vast living area from the large garden terrace featuring a 10-seat table, barbecue, deck chairs, and sun umbrellas.

The mid-level has a cosy area with a sofa bed and WC (sink and toilet)

The first floor offers two independent bedrooms each with a private bathroom. The larger bedroom also has a WC.

A terraced garden surrounds the house. This space offers a pool, the length of which border the rock, and a sauna not visible from the outside. There is also a clothesline.

Unusually for inside a calanque, we have a large garage for tow cars and a motorcycle.

The house has Wi-Fi and satellite TV.

Practical side

Services:

We provide bed linen, sheets, and bath towels

For an additional fee, we provide a housekeeper. We highly recommend this service as housekeepers are from the calanque area and provide you all you could need (including delicious homemade fish soup...)

Mandatory final cleaning is not included in the rate.

Facilities:

In the village of Rove,3 km away from the house, you can find all shops and let's not forget the well known brousse cheese from Rove.

L'Estaque, an impressionist painters' village, is 6 km away. Here, you can find all shops and a Provencal market. Recently, a shuttle service links l'Estaque with the old harbour.

Recommendations:

- walking:

Five minutes from the sea, the foot of the calanque has a pretty pebble beach and stunning views of Marseille. The bar serves small pastis in the shade of the plane trees.

You can also take the well-being trails along the garrigue with small private beaches. Here the water is clean and few people visit. Don't forget to visit the Figuerolles Calanque.

The calanque offers a diving centre and there is one in the Niolon International Centre.

There are abundant places to visit.

- By car:

In Marseille, check out the old harbour and Notre Dame de la Garde, while not forgetting that Marseille is a huge cultural centre with the MUCEM, Vieille Charité,Longchamp Palace, and many others.

We are half an hour from Provencal bourgeois in Aix-en-Provence. Theres Cours Mirabeau for you to stroll down in he eveningsand museums.

Many film stars like to get away to the Alpilles, 40 minutes away. The area includes Baux,St-Remy, and many other traditional Provencal villages

In Camargue, an hour away, don't forget to take the Barcarin ferryboat to feel miles away from it all

Arles and Avignon are great, particularly during festival time.

- By train: the blue train takes you along the Côte Bleue and to Marseille's Gare St Charles in the city centre.

About Jean-Rene Milliet

I am an ENT surgeon who is fond of Provence. I remember that the first time I came accross Maison de la Vess in its original style it was love at first sight.

I needed to live there and refurbished it to my taste to call it the blue house...a song of my generation.

I moved from France to Russia for work, where I lived for 12 years. However, in the height of the Russian winter, the blue house is still there.

Jean-Rene Milliet purchased this house in 2004

Why Jean-Rene Milliet chose Le Rove

I decided to rent the blue house for it to be lived in because I only come to France every once in a while.

What makes this house unique

A true oasis of peace in this calanque, the house dominating the valley is a gem. I often forget whether I am in Marseilleor Greece. In short, the entire Mediterranean opens up from this calanque.

In wintertime, the house is snug. In spring, the broom shrub fragrances fill the air. In summer, the cicadas treat us to a concert. In autumn, the hills are adorned with magical colours and its' not unusual to find a pheasant or partridge on a path.

  • 5 of 5

zurück gelaufen, herrliche Blicke in türkisblaue Buchten.

Merci!

Schönes Haus - man fühlt sich wohl

  • 5 of 5
