The home is situated on 1.5 acres of private and secluded property in the highly desirable 40 Steps Area. Nahant prides itself as being one of the safest towns in the state and enjoys the security of one carefully monitored road to and from this peninsular community. It has been described in the Boston Globe as the 'gated coastal town' of Boston where families can enjoy a vacation along with the relaxation and comforts of home... and without worries.
Nahant is a town known for recreational activites as far as your imagination can dream. This quaint town is a true leisure experience at its best.... and don't worry about traffic jams, they start just after the turn off to Nahant.
The home is seconds from a challenging golf course, tennis courts, private beaches, and a quaint boating harbor. Many walking/jogging paths along a 3-mi beach, as well as many paths throughout the town to enjoy the serenity and natural beauty of Nahant . Fishing, scuba diving, sailing, skiing,,rock climbing, bird-watching, skating, blading, wind surfing, jogging/walking/biking ,photography, among others...is commonplace in Nahant. Bus/taxi service is also available.
Nahant has all the trimmings of a recreational playground which provides activities for children as well as for adults. Nahant has been the Boston playground for decades and is protected from the noise and pollution of the big city with one thing in mind... relaxation!
There are many diverse and exceptional restaurants in and around Nahant; shopping malls in every direction; close proximity to all major attractions : Boston, Salem, Marblehead, Gloucester, etc. deep sea fishing and whale-watching tours in the immediate area with daily trips.
Nahant offers an island atmosphere with the best beaches in the Boston area (all 10 of them) within 20 min. to Boston & 15 min.to Logan Arpt., 5 min. to commuter rail for travel to Boston (18 min.) or head north to Maine and New Hampshire.
Great home for a family reunion/vacation. Lots of room for kids to play (3 floors); large rooms for adults to visit. Secluded drive through woods to get to house even though you are in a town. Two kitchens and near to restaurants. Sitting with a cup of coffee on the deck in the morning and watching fishermen is a great way to start the day. If we return to Boston, we will definitely stay here.
This house has NO air conditioning and it is crawling with bugs. There were 4-5 spiders bigger than my hand in every bathroom. My children are scared to sleep here because of the bugs and no one can sleep because it's so hot.
Absolutely much more than I ever expected-- A glorious setting with unobstructed views of the ocean as far as the eye can see. We greeted the day every morning with a spectacular sunrise--words can't describe how beautiful it was. But the main surprise was the unexpected sight of the whales that were swimming in Nahant Bay. I assumed we would have to book a whale watcher tour so this was a delightful extra that we could observe the whales from the decks.
The home was well appointed and all we needed to bring was a toothbrush and groceries. The rooms were large and the great room allowed our large group to dine together. The gathering was even more special because there was ample room for everyone and yet have their own space. We saved dollars because we could cook some of our meals, yet found great restaurants nearby when we decided to eat out.
The close proximity to Boston as well as other historical sites made this a perfect location. Our families will be back and will never forget the wonderful memories we take with us from the wonderful vacation we had in this special community of Nahant.
This home is exactly what you need to have a fantastic getaway vacation. So relaxing to sit and watch the lobster fishermen check their traps early in the morning & in the evening watch the sun set from every window, in this wonderfully laid out house. It has 3 levels & very private with all the amenities. It is located on an island setting but close to so much activity and nearby beaches. We loved taking the train into Boston, visiting all the historical sites along the "Freedom Trail." The seaside communities of Salem, Swampscott & Marblehead are all close by and offer an array of great restaurants in the area. Of course my favorite highlight was to cook our own lobsters in the big kitchen in the house (there are actually 2)! The separate living arrangements make it ideal for couples or larger families as well. Ocean views and sounds are amazing, and comfortable bedrooms make for a restful night. Plenty of room for any event and socializing. We would definitely come back to this beautiful and unique venue.
We had 12-15 people and it was nice to have everyone together. The house is in pretty good condition on the inside, looks like it could use some touching up on the exterior, but that didn't bother us.
I met both of the owners (husband and wife) and they were very helpful for anything we asked. I would stay here again.
The main floor has 3 bedrooms: 1) two queen beds, 2) two queen beds, 3) one queen bed. The 'basement' has 2 bedrooms: 4) one full size and one twin bed, 5) one queen bed - semi private as it has louvered doors on one side. I think we had 2 rollabeds. All 3 main floor bedrooms had sliding glass doors that open to the dining room - odd for a house, but this was or can be used for meetings. It wasn't a problem.
Plenty of parking next to the house. The deck was pretty large and nice to watch the ocean and stuff. Plenty of seating for casual hanging out. All of the furnishings were pretty good - none was unacceptable.
The space worked well for comfortable meeting space and good cooking together fun. The scenery and neighborhood were spectacular. The home is adequately furnished and stocked, though it is not elegantly appointed, and we could tell it had been a 1950's remodel. It was excellent for our purposes and would be terrific for a large family, or two families vacationing together, as it had a kitchen and bedrooms on two floors. We loved the all glass room at the top...perfect for meditating! We will be back.
5 mile strip along beach for joggers/bikers/ roller bladers, etc, Exercise area for unleashed dogs on beach, scuba diving, 8 of the best beaches in Boston, secluded and busy, parasailing, Shopping Malls/Grocery Stores within close proximity, A skateboarder park, An array of exceptional restaurants, whale watching & deep sea fishing tours, water and amusement parks, Nahant is centrally located and an easy commute to Boston (20 min), Logan Arpt (15 min)Salem, Gloucester and points beyond.Bring your kayaks...park them in the water in front of the house or kayaks available for rent nearby...
