We booked this home last-minute after our original vacation rental in Pigeon Forge, TN, fell through due to the wildfires. The owner, Bob, was very responsive and flexible on the terms given our circumstances (thanks!!). The home was exactly as pictured and exactly what we needed! Plenty of space for the family; comfortably furnished; well-equipped kitchen; gorgeous views, etc. Bob called to welcome us to the home and to let us know about an issue with the water heater that he was having repaired on the day of our arrival. He followed up to make sure the issue was resolved and then sent out another service person to spread de-icer on the deck and stairs after the water heater tech mentioned to him that the surfaces were slippery. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was great! At the end of the stay, he refunded our deposit promptly. I look forward to staying here again in the future and would recommend this home!
We had a great experience at this home. The second floor kitchen and family room with mountain view was really nice. There was plenty of space for our entire family, cousins and all. Many people in our party kept telling me how nice the place was and wanted to come back next year. Hopefully, there will be snow next year at the end of December.
We had a great time here...perfect for families with small children. There was plenty of room, very close to skiing, a great kitchen to prepare meals in, and a hot tub. Bob was very accommodating and responded to us quickly with any questions or concerns we had.
The house was beautiful! Windows out onto the mountains and a nice warm hot tub ready for us when we arrived. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of my own timing, almost everything was closed and all the leaves were off the trees, just come a few weeks before and 5 stars for sure! I knew that was going to happen and Robert even said something about it, but I needed the vacation anyway, so no fault but my own. We were basically the only people on the mountain at that time. We brought all of our own food and drinks for the whole weekend, so we really didn't need to leave the house at all. There are many national parks on your way through WV, so be sure to check them out.
There was a leak in the kitchen because they just replaced everything and are still working the stuff out, but Robert was nice about it and I believe that should be fixed soon. Otherwise the kitchen was great and full of pots/pans/etc. LOVE the rainbow trout plates by the way!
PEOPLE WITH PETS: This is a good place. I took my dog (just had to pay a little extra). We just walked up and down the street for potty breaks and I took her down the mountain on a hiking trip close by and she enjoyed herself. Definitely be careful about ticks. I followed instructions on the med stuff and still found a tick on her when we got back. So be mindful.
The roads and dark and windy at night. I wouldn't suggest arriving or leaving during the dark, but that's just me. We had someone that was going to arrive late the first day and we all told them to just wait it out and come on day two because we were worried they'd take a dive off the mountain.
Suggestions for others:
If you come during the fall, plan a few weeks before I did and you'll be able to see all the different tree colors :)
Bring mountain bikes if you're into that
BRING PAPER TOWELS if you're crazy like me and need those. We had 8 adults and 2 rolls... not enough.
Bring extra blankets if you have a lot of people and like to stay cozy, the blankets on the beds are rather light.
This year was our third stay at this house - the fact that we keep coming back should speak for itself! The cabin is absolutely beautiful - the pictures (inside and out) do not do this place justice. Each time we've had approximately 10-12 people during our stay and there was more than enough room for everyone - 3 stories with 2 living rooms. The kitchen is very large and our group has always prepared meals during our stay. They have more than enough pots/pans/plates/kitchen items to host a very large group. The shuttle service is also very convenient - a quick phone call and the shuttle arrives at the end of the driveway within just a few minutes. You can park your car when you arrive and not have to move it again until you leave. The hot tub is also a major bonus - after a long day of skiing you can't beat it and the views from the hot tub are incredible. I've been coming to Snowshoe every year for the past 7 years and I haven't found another place quite like this one - for the size of the house, floor layout, amenities, views, and the fantastic owner the value is incredible. Thanks again, Bob - we'll see you next year!
This place is awesome! Very spacious with the two living rooms. We had eight people here and there was plenty of room. The shuttle service was great as well. We would just call the number when we were ready to go and the shuttle was usually there in less than 10 minutes and they would take us wherever we needed to go. Same with getting a ride back. We were able to park our cars and we didn't drive them again until we checked out. Don't plan on having cell service anywhere on the mountain, but the wifi at this house was great with seven devices going at the same time. The TV's are newer than the ones in the pics and they have HDMI inputs if needed. The sauna was great too for drying out or ski gear. Again, great place and we'd absolutely stay here again!
