About Mrs Gillian Stuart
Duncan was born in Threlkeld & Gillian in Newlands. Duncan is a builder by trade and I worked on the family dairy & sheep farm before raising our daughter & son, helping on building projects then running the holiday lets at Bram Cragg from 1993. Duncan, since fell running, is a keen mountain biker a sport that has taken our family all over the UK. Gillian has been taking part in local dog agility events since 2006. Any spare time and we walk the fell tops we have missed with our dogs & family.
Mrs Gillian Stuart purchased this Chalet in 1993
Why Mrs Gillian Stuart chose Keswick
Bram Cragg Farm being owned & loved by Gillians granparents since 1974 and has been in our ownership from 2008. We renovated & developed it until 2014 with Duncan using his 35 years of building expertise & family help to make it the holiday choice of many returning guests. You can;t help but fall in love with the setting of Bram Cragg against the fells in a sceinic valley. The 50 acre of land is now stocked with our neighbourghs quality limousan breeding beef and breeding sheep from April to October and we maintain the land all the year round.
What makes this Chalet unique
Bram Cragg Farm looks unchanged with the oldest part dating from 1688. Buildings were added as dairy & sheep farming grew and mining, railways and reservoirs expanded the population. We have been allowed to develop these to provide holiday accommodation with lovely views and we replaced two existing static caravans with two larger modern lodges. These have more comfort and space for up to four guests, more privercy but with open unrestricted views of fells & fields.

What a lovely place to stay! We loved it! Peace and quiet with the cows right outside our window couldn't have picked a better place! We had a visit (we think was Fly) lovely dog! We missed our Olly (Springer Spaniel ) on his holiday in kennels. Thanks for the yummy cake! We don't normally return to the same place on our trips but we would here! Very comfortable lodge, home from home, very cosy and warm. Excellent!
Thank you for enjoying our lodge and our area.
Please return another time and see it looking even better.
We hope the railway footpath will be back in use for the 2021 season.
Lovely lodge in great location
The lodge is great, really well kept and well presented. We had a great time staying there, and there's a lovely view out of the dining room window.
The lodge is in a great location and exactly as described. It’s clean and modern and perfect for exploring the Northern Lake District, especially if you’re in and out at dawn and dusk where that can be awkward in hotels or B&Bs. The views are superb and it’s a relaxing place to stay with the sights and sounds of the countryside in all directions. The WiFi is ok for light web browsing and Twitter/Facebook etc, probably best to bring a book and not hammer it though. Gill was very welcoming and helpful and her dogs were friendly too. This is definitely the nicest place I’ve stayed in the Lake District and I intend to come back.
Thank you for your honest review. Good weather and relaxing make good holidays usualy. We hope one day a better affordable phone line connection will improve our Wi Fi situation so bring some books etc just in case.
Very comfortable well equipped lodge in beautiful surroundings. All you could need in lodge which was warm and clean. Very good base for exploring local area. Walks on doorstep. Had a fantastic week and didn't want to leave. Highly recommend and would love to go back in the future.
We enjoyed meeting you. With the dry and clear weather that turned warmer you could enjoy all the views and walks all around us.
Beautiful and peaceful
The lodge was very warm and beautifully decorated to a high standard. It was well appointed and had everything we needed. It was extremely quiet and peaceful with amazing views out of full height windows.
We are pleased you enjoyed the views and peace and quiet of spring.
