About Mrs Gillian Stuart

Duncan was born in Threlkeld & Gillian in Newlands. Duncan is a builder by trade and I worked on the family dairy & sheep farm before raising our daughter & son, helping on building projects then running the holiday lets at Bram Cragg from 1993. Duncan, since fell running, is a keen mountain biker a sport that has taken our family all over the UK. Gillian has been taking part in local dog agility events since 2006.

Any spare time and we walk the fell tops we have missed with our dogs & family.

Mrs Gillian Stuart purchased this chalet in 1993

Why Mrs Gillian Stuart chose Saint John's Castlerigg and Wythburn

Bram Cragg Farm being owned & loved by Gillians granparents since 1974 and has been in our ownership from 2008. We renovated & developed it until 2014 with Duncan using his 35 years of building expertise & family help to make it the holiday choice of many returning guests. You can;t help but fall in love with the setting of Bram Cragg against the fells in a sceinic valley. The 50 acre of land is now stocked with our neighbourghs quality limousan breeding beef and breeding sheep from April to October and we maintain the land all the year round.

What makes this chalet unique

Bram Cragg Farm looks unchanged with the oldest part dating from 1688. Buildings were added as dairy & sheep farming grew and mining, railways and reservoirs expanded the population. We have been allowed to develop these to provide holiday accommodation with lovely views and we replaced two existing static caravans with two larger modern lodges.

These have more comfort and space for up to four guests, more privercy but with open unrestricted views of fells & fields.

Amazing Lodge in heart of the Lakes

  • 5 of 5

The setting & the facilities of this lodge are impeccable. Truly breath taking views from all windows. All the mod cons you require for a weeks holiday and plenty of room for everyone. En-suite shower room, plus a large bath tub for a good hot soak after a day's walking. Washing machine and dryer, large fridge freezer and oven with gas hob. Only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Keswick. We are already looking forward to our return next year.

The area was lovely & perfect for us. Away from all infrastructure for those that are looking for

Clean modern & tasteful. Very open plan kitchen/dining/living area. We were more than suited as a couple on this occasion to be literally away from it all as we are piled high with responsibilities to elderly relatives back home this past few years so the contrast of just fields and hills and quiet with no schedule felt amazing.

Five Star Plus

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful lodge situated in a lovely quiet valley. The lodge was fully equipped and had everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was tastefully decorated and had lovely furnishings. There was a welcome pack waiting for us from tea, coffee, milk and a homemade nut/fruit bar. We couldn't have asked for more. Hopefully we will be back next year.

A beautiful escape!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week in Threlkheld. The log cabin was very comfortable and contained everything we needed, with thoughtful extras. The setting is stunning and very peaceful. With so much to see and do in the local area I would highly recommend this wonderful area of the Lakes. A big thank you to Gill for making us so welcome.
