We stayed at the HHK for our honeymoon and loved everything about it. My wife and her family are familiar with HHK but this was my first time in Hawaii and was everything I hoped it would be. Martha was such a gracious host and made sure everything was in order for our stay.
The unit was immaculately clean and comfortable. A well stocked kitchen has everything you'll need, if it isn't there you probably don't need it anyway! All sorts of beach necessities are in the storage in the lanai (beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.). The location is unbeatable, with the quiet beach just a steps away from the building. Snorkeling can be done right off the reef to the right in front of the building. Perfect viewing for sunsets from the garden viewing area with lawn chairs. Close to downtown Kihei and Wailea for anything you need. All in all it made a wonderful experience for our honeymoon and without a doubt we will be returning to the Hale Hui Kai in the future!
Our family of four--including two teen boys--stayed here August 5-12. The condo, location and amenities included were even better than expected. It's an easy 25 minute drive from the airport, and centrally located for getting to other areas of the island. While so many condos for rent are advertised as being "across from the beach" or "steps from the beach," HHK is ON the beach. This unit is toward the rear of the property, so there's a short walk through the courtyard before you've actually got your toes in the sand. The beach itself is beautiful and relatively unpopulated because most of the beach is fronted by large homes rather than hotels or condo buildings. A hotel just a few hundred feet down the sand rents kayaks, snorkel gear, bikes, stand up paddleboards, etc. The same hotel does a terrific happy hour with an ocean view, too. The boat ramp about a 5 minute walk down the beach is the launching point for several dive, snorkel and fishing boat companies...very convenient. The condo unit itself is terrific. The kitchen and bathrooms are newly remodeled, with lovely appliances, cabinetry and tile work. Everything you need is provided--loads of beach towels, beach chairs, a cooler and boogie boards for outside, and lots of staples for the kitchen like salt, pepper, coffee filters, paper towels. I don't think there's anything that the manager hasn't thought of! Martha was welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. I'd recommend this condo to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay in South Maui.
We have stayed at the Hui a number of times and this unit was fantastic. You cannot beat the short walk to one of the best beaches on Maui and the unit itself was clean and well stocked. Martha was great to deal with and made our stay so easy we can't wait to head back.
We loved our stay at this beautiful and very clean condo. All the furniture was very comfortable. The location is amazing, only a few steps from Keawakapu beach, one of our favourite beaches.
The condo was equipped with absolutely everything, extra bath towels, plenty of beach towels, chairs, umbrella, cooler, reading material, games etc
The kitchen was amazing, spacious and very well equipped. There is no BBQ facility on site but we used the BBQ next door at the hotel a few times. The panini grill worked very well with grilling hamburgers or steak.
The unit had several fans throughout and with the windows open, it never felt too hot. This is also a quiet place with no street noise. We highly recommend this place to anyone!
If you are looking for a smaller condo complex, without the massive amounts of people, a few steps to a magnificent beach, this one is for you! The condo itself is beautiful, with upgrades/remodeling throughout, modern appliances, and everything your family could possibly want to make your stay a great one! The kitchen, and I'm not exaggerating here, has everything. If it doesn't have it, you really don't need it. The place was immaculate when we arrived, with special touches throughout to start our vacation off right.
We took advantage of the beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. for our time on the beach, which was gorgeous and NOT over crowded. I loved the morning walks down long stretches of soft sand to start my day off right. There is a reef area, just to the right, that has some pretty cool snorkeling. My family saw two turtles, as well as multiple fish. One turtle actually came all the way over to where the swimmers were. I actually tripped over it because I was unaware he was so close!!
My only concern prior to arrival was the lack of air conditioning, but it was really not an issue. The trade winds come up in the afternoon, which help to cool off the rooms. Plus, there are several ceiling fans throughout.
Laundry room is just down the hall, very reasonably priced. $1.25 per wash, $1.00 to dry.
I would highly recommend this condo to anyone wanting a great place to stay. Martha was phenomenal to work with, and it was nice to know she was onsite if we had any questions. If I knew for sure we were coming back next year, I would reserve this unit now! It is the nicest one we have stayed in compared to all others in our travels. I couldn't have been happier. 😀
The property manager was very helpful.
The vacation rental was spotless.
I was very happy with the location.
I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
The condo was upscale, very clean, and well appointed. The fact that there was no air conditioning is a major drawback at night, The oppressive heat makes it difficult to sleep.
Hale Hui Kai is on the beach next to the Mana Kai hotel,
1/2 off pupus and drinks from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the bar. Snorkeling on the reef in front of our property is some of the best in the area. Paddle boarding is the new hot sport that everyone can enjoy. Rent a board next door.
