A gorgeous cottage in a peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We've just spent a week in this lovely cottage. Easily one of the nicest holiday cottages we've ever stayed in. Such a peaceful location, set amongst beautiful farmland with a river running along the bottom of the meadow, and the only sounds that of cattle lowing, and sheep bleating, plus the odd farm tractor. We saw Red Kites flying over the hills, and swallows, swifts and housemartins over the river and fields. The cottage itself was beautifully furnished, warm, light and airy. The owner was friendly, helpful and informative. The cake received on arrival was delicious and most appreciated, thank you!

There are several local places to eat, plus ones in Welshpool, all of which we thought did excellent food. Supermarkets are around 25-30 mins drive away, but there are other small local shops that are closer. The scenery is just lovely, and if you want a really pleasant few hours out, we recommend driving out to Dolgellau, and on to Barmouth and then further on up into North Wales - the views are stunning and the landscape very dramatic. All in all, a lovely, relaxing week in a beautiful cottage. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Clean, tidy well equiped homely cottage

  • 5 of 5

Arrived to find the cottage just as stated in the listing. The owner John called to make sure all was well and could not have been nicer. We had a fantastic week at Rhos y Gallt and would highly recommend it to others. Many thanks to John for our fantastic stay.

A great week away from it all

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week here, my wife myself and our dog . The cottage has everything we needed , including WI FI. Thanks to John for coming over quickly when we had a query , you made us most welcome in your place .

Although the cottage is so peaceful , its just 2 mins away from a main road which can get you to other parts of Wales in no time . Thanks again !

Excellent cottage for dogs

We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage despite the weather! The really great thing about this property is the sizeable and secure garden which was ideal for our two Irish Wolfhounds

Amazing cottage in a lovely rural setting

What a great weekend we had spent in this beautiful cottage. Very quiet location with lovely open countryside views. Safe for our daughter to ride around on her bike and for us to have a relaxing time. Thanks again John.

Rhos y gallt is situated in a beautiful part of Mid Wales where you can enjoy a peaceful retreat or participate in the many activities available in the area.

The cottage is set down a quiet country lane, has a large garden and it's own private river at the bottom of the field with fishing rights. Kayaks and canoes are occasionally seen on the river especially after rainfall. There is an abundance of walks and bike rides from the doorstep.

Take a walk for approximately a mile on footpaths through fields and over a footbridge arriving in the village of Llangadfan where there is a pub called The Cann Office and a vintage tea shop and café called Cwpan Pinc. Both serve wonderful home made meals to eat in or take away. Nearby village of Llanerfyl has a petrol station and the village of Llanfair Caereinon (5 miles) has several pubs, café, wine bistro, Health centre, dental surgery, butchers and grocery shops.

This area is a paradise for walkers with local walks starting from the doorstep. Nearby is the scenic Glyndwr's way, Rainbow trails in Dyfnant forest and Lake Vyrnwy. Both Dyfnant forest and Lake Vyrnwy have different trails for different abilities and both share spectacular views. Cycle hire is also available at Lake Vyrnwy, as well as bird watching and water sports.

Other local attractions include Llanfair & Welshpool light railway, Powis Castle, Montgomery canal, Glansevern Hall gardens and the center for alternative technology in Machynlleth.

There are also golf courses, pony trekking, quad biking, white water rafting, canoeing and ropes course within a short drive.
