Set In Quiet, Rural Surroundings In The Heart Of The Otter Valley.

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

Sleeps 2. 1 Bedroom. 1 Bathroom.

Harleyford Cottage is set in delightful, rural surroundings in the heart of the Otter Valley. The Cottage benefits from its location close the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The cottage is perfectly situated to give its guests a very enjoyable holiday experience, from land, coast or sea.

It is in walking distance of the RSPB nature reserve at Aylesbeare Common and a short drive to over 2,000 acres of Pebblebed Heaths where there is limitless walks, biking and nature watching opportunities. The cottage is also on the East Devon Way, a well maintained walk from Lyme Regis to Exmouth.

Although it is located in a very tranquil and secluded area of the Otter Valley, the regency seaside town of Sidmouth is only a few miles away. A mere 10 minute drive will take you to Budleigh Salterton and further on, the sandy beach of Exmouth.

Harleyford Cottage has a double bedroom, kitchen, living room and shower room and is ideal for a couple. The single-story accommodation is bright, clean and air and has recently been decorated.

The spacious kitchen and living areas are separated by oak units to floor and ceiling ending in a feature brick pillar. The double bedroom contains a wardrobe and drawers. The shower room contains a quadrant shower cubicle with an electric shower and recently installed sanitary ware.

Features and Facilities

The cottage is centrally heated and electricity is included. The use of a patio and garden for enjoying the weather and barbeques is available.

The kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, microwave oven, toaster and fridge / freezer.

The roomy lounge area includes a comfy sofa-bed, TV (with freeview), DVD player, radio and CD player.

Parking for one car is on-site.

We regret that we cannot accept pets or smoking on the property.

Lovely rural location, friendly owners, everything well thought out and provided.

As soon as we turned into the property we knew that we had made a good choice. It is in a rural and quiet setting and yet within easy reach of the main road. The cottage is compact and perfect for 2 people. Sally and Andrew are very friendly and made us feel welcome. There is a patio and garden for use of guests.

There are good beaches nearby (stony not sandy) and the sea is calm and good for swimming. We particularly liked Beer.

Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth and Seaton have promenades to walk along by the sea. Fresh crab sandwiches are recommended!

We also visited the Donkey Sanctuary, Beer Quarrry Caves (amazing) and Lily Farm Vineyard (very interesting and lovely wine).

It was the Budleigh Salterton music festival and we enjoyed an evening concert.

Also recommended is the cake at The Old Bakery (a NT property in Branscombe).

The cottage is well located for visiting all the above places and also for going a bit further along the coast to Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Seatown.

We really liked the area as a whole and the property suited us perfectly.
