'Periwinkle' is a sunny village Colonial home built in 1810 and updated in 2007. Located a block from the ocean, there are peeks of the water from the second floor and a beautiful ocean view from the third floor master suite. You can walk to Rockport's Front or Back Beach in moments ... take your morning coffee or lunch/dinner picnic and enjoy the spectacular scenery, swim, collect sea glass or explore the tidal pools. The house is a five minute walk to the quaint village of Rockport, famed for its seaside shops, art galleries, and the freshest lobster and seafood you can buy. In Rockport and all around Cape Ann, you will find some of New England's most beautiful sandy beaches, golf courses, hiking, boating and whale watching. After a day on the beach, enjoy your dinner outside in the garden. There are many ice cream shops nearby for dessert! On Summer Sunday evenings there is a concert at the Back Beach bandstand just steps from the house.
Our stay at Lisa's Beach house in Rockport was just perfect! The location of the house is great: 5 min walk from motif n1 and the shops/restaurants, and 2 min walk from the beaches! The house itself is very nice. The best is the masters bedroom on the 3rd floor: it is huge and has amazing ocean views.
Lisa welcomed us when we arrived. She showed us the house and gave us good tips about things to see and do around Rockport.
The house was clean and the neighborhood was quiet. We would definitely stay there again!
What a sweet, lovely place to call home while in Rockport! It's just steps to the beaches and Bearskin neck, and is thoughtfully appointed and preserved. The top floor master bedroom is a retreat like no other, and the sweet side yards and toy-stocked garage were terrific fun for the kids. Thank you for making our Rockport stay so enjoyable and convenient!
Lisa was at the house to greet us when we arrived at the end of September. We were two couples, one from Canada, the other from England. Lisa was so helpful and enthusiastic with suggestions that we knew we would enjoy our stay. We were not disappointed. As other reviewers have noted the house is superbly equipped to meet the needs of even larger groups than us. It's situated one block from the beach and within walking distance of Rockport's many attractions. Further afield we explored Cape Ann, Essex, Ipswich, Marblehead and Salem. In short, a lovely house in a beautiful seaside location within easy driving distance of the many places beckoning on the north shore.
We (Nana, granddad, mum & dad, almost three year old, and twin baby girls, nine months old) spent a wonderful ten days in August in this lovely home. Lisa met us and went over everything with us, and then left us to explore and settle. She had thought of everything; from a kitchen with an abundance of crockery and cutlery to a garage full of everything you could possibly think of for the beach. The inside of the house was clean, comfortable and spacious, and the suite at the top was a spectacular place to look out at the sea and relax. The stairs are steep, but we got used to those. We had brought a travel playpen, and there were enough adults to ensure that the toddler was safe. In fact, we spent most days outside; either at the very close by beaches, or in the back yard of the house. The outdoor shower meant that we could always clean off before coming inside, and there was always shade somewhere if we wanted to be outside. The band stand was a great attraction whether the band was playing or not! Our toddler loved it there. Lisa's home was so comfortable and enjoyable, that by day three we were all already talking about how we would be planning on coming back next year. It truly was a home from home, close to so much, yet quiet and relaxing, even with small children about. Indeed, being able to just stroll over to a beach in just a few minutes was very convenient. The supermarket was a fairly short drive away, as were places to eat. What can I say? We would recommend it to others, and would go again!
We've enjoyed a week at this beautiful Rockport house for several summers in a row and are happy every year. It's spacious and has everything you need, from outdoor cooking equipment and beach chairs, to indoor and outdoor showers, and beautiful water views! Best of all, it's a block from the neighborhood beach and Bearskin Neck shops, but also a short drive to the bigger Gloucester beach we love (Good Harbor). The area offers endless opportunities for shopping, dining out, and arts & entertainment. Our kids, who are teenagers now, have grown up here and still love it.
Lisa and Ed, the owners, are responsive and thoughtful. It's a pleasure to work with them!
My girlfriends and I spent a wonderful 4 days here and loved this house. Would highly recommend it in the fall because the colors are beautiful and it's just a short walk to all the shops, etc. It's a perfect spot for spring or summer also being so close to the beach. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Lisa waited a long time for us to arrive then spent a long time showing us the house and answering all our questions. The home is 200+ years old. It's beautifully restored and has up to date appliances, yet maintains the beauty and charm of the original home. The shabby-chic decor is perfect - gives the home a classy but comfortable feel. We loved having 4 bedrooms to spread out and give us each privacy, though we spent most of our time on the third floor enjoying the gorgeous view of the water. Rockport is a charming and picturesque town with numerous shops, galleries, restaurants... We easily could have spent the whole time there, but did some exploring to nearby towns of Gloucester, Ipswich, Newburyport and Salem. This place truly exceeded all our expectations and I'm sure we'll be returning.
Rockport, at the very tip of Cape Ann, offers visitors so much all year-round. Spring time is beautiful in New England, as the flowers and trees start blooming along the coastline - and the village of Rockport opens up for shopping and dining. The summers are perfect for beach combing, swimming, seafood, and exploring. Autumn in New England is breath-taking with its beautiful foliage, apple picking, antiquing and hiking.
Other Activities: beaches, art galleries, shopping, hiking, dining, exploring the beautiful towns on cape ann
