A good friend told me East Boston was Boston without the high prices and with great views. This place was just great--and at an amazing price. Water view and light and divinely comfortable beds. There's a walk to the subway, but it's nothing compared to the kind of walking we did once we hit downtown (a few minutes later!) and we got to know the T pretty quickly as it gets you everywhere in Boston.
The previous week we had a fabulous beach week in Cape Cod (HomeAway ID 153733), and all in all it was a great two-week holiday--beach and then sightseeing in Boston.
My family and I stayed here for 5 days in July, and would highly recommend it to anyone needing room to spread out. Traveling with 3 teenagers is quite a challenge, and having two bathrooms was a Huge plus! The apartment was not new, but had everything we needed for a very pleasant stay, was clean, and the location was just fine. Actually, the 1/2 mile walk to the T station was quite enjoyable, and needed to walk off all of the calories we consumed! Once on the T, you're in the city in no time flat. We bought weekly passes, and definitely got our monies worth. There are plenty of good restaurants close by, also. My only recommendation would be to have more couch seating, instead of the three dining tables currently there. We did love sitting outside on the balcony for breakfast, or cocktails in the evening, and setting the spectacular view of the city! The neighborhood where the apartment is located is very residential, and we felt quite safe. Would absolutely stay here again, especially considering the huge savings when compared to anything right in the city.
This property was in a nice, safe, convenient neighborhood. The metro is a 15 min walk but we sort of cheated and came back each day through the airport and took the Enterprise rental shuttle which stops 2 blocks from the house!! You really can't beat this house for convenience to the airport. We walked to the airport the morning of our flight. The house is clean and large and has great light. We ate outside on the deck multiple nights and looked out over the harbor. There are also many parks nearby for kids and a Catholic Church. The Italian restaurant on the way to the subway is very good.
We had a fantastic stay at this apartment, the location was good with plenty of amenities nearby and we enjoyed the 10 min walk to the T station which is only 1 stop from the waterfront area of boston. Very clean and good condition with plenty of helpful extras such as restaurant recommendations, washing powder for the machine, etc. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of cooking implements so, even though we didn't choose to, cooking would have been a breeze. The two bathrooms were a big plus for us, it was great to have a bathrrom per bedroom and it was nice to have a deck on both floors too.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone travelling to boston, the proximity to the airport made the initial finding of it a bit tricky but we got around that by putting maverick square in the satnav as a 'via'. The neighbourhood is friendly and easy to find your way around. I was pleased to have found this rental when I booked and it did not disappoint in any way.
Just a brief note to say how much we enjoyed staying in Frank and Margot’s East Boston apartment. The descriptions given on the website are accurate and the apartment was very clean, well equipped, and in a good location.
The walk to the T stop is quite easy and there are a few smaller shops near it suitable for most requirements. The larger supermarket (Shaw’s - 246 Border Street) is a bit further away – probably a car or taxi ride back when loaded with purchases. Travel to downtown Boston by T takes ~ 25-30 minutes door to door.
Logan airport is very close (take the free airport shuttle stop at the Boat Dock / Hyatt and walk round the inlet), but noise from the planes is not an issue. Logan was ideal for car hire – all companies are represented – take a shuttle bus from any terminal.
The two decks are an excellent feature of the apartment – we had breakfast on the sun drenched deck most days. There was ample space for a grown up family of four adults, and plenty of things to do in and around Boston for our week vacation. We particularly chose this apartment as secure off-street parking was available – driving to and from East Boston was comparatively simple with a Sat Nav.
Finally. Frank and Margot were excellent hosts, always available and helpful, but never intrusive.
What a wonderful vacation we had in this excellent apartment. The decsription was spot on - it was spacious, extremely well equipped, clean and in a safe and convenient location. We booked the two bedroom option both of which had bathrooms. The two storey balconies overlooked the waterfront and we spent many happy hours enjoying the view. The apartment is within walking distance of the airport but we did not find any problem at all with aircraft noise - in fact we enjoyed spotting the aircraft as they landed/took off! There were a number of small convenience stores within easy walking distance and a very good little cafe serving pizzas to order as well as a number of other good dishes. The tube station was less than 10 minutes walk away and just one stop took you on to the main waterfornt - tip - buy a $15 card for the underground which gives you unlimited travel for 7 days - brilliant value. We loved Boston and found it very easy to walk and take in all the sights - and shops!! We spent a day at Cape Cod which was amazing and a day at Wrentham Village Outlet which is about a 50 minute run and worth a visit for the shopaholics. The apartment comes with a parking space which is a great bonus. We loved Quincy Market - just off the waterfront in Boston - a staggering array of food and aromas fill the air - well worth a visit!
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this apartment and its excellent owners to future users - Frank and Margo -Thank you for all your help and advice.
