Had a fantastic time in this apartment. The location was brilliant and within walking distance to everything. The apartment itself also had everything I needed and everything was in top condition.

The apartment contributed to a very pleasant vacation in Rome.

Would not recommend

  • 2 of 5

We have now rented four apartments in France and Italy. This is the only one we would NOT recommend. (We are two retired couples traveling together.)

There were some positives. The apartment was clean and spacious. It had a wonderful outside patio. It was pretty well stocked (glasses, silverware), TV, CD/DVD players with a good selection, books and had good light and was quiet .

Now.....when we first walked into the building, we all looked at each other. The hall seemed to have not been painted in decades and looked like a Bronx tenement.

It was advertised as a 2 bathroom apartment. One bath had two sinks and a tub/shower. We decided to let the girls use that one. Why? The 2nd bathroom had only a toilet and a shower. There was no sink - the men had to wash their hands and brush their teeth in the kitchen sink!

The shower was so tiny that anyone over a 30 inch waist would struggle to get into it. There was, literally, no place to put shampoo or soap in the shower - just carry it in and hold onto it. God forbid you drop it; you would have to exit the shower to pick it up. The pipes stuck out from the wall (as I found out when I brushed up against it and felt the burning hot pipe). And a bit of maintenance would be nice - tighten the toilet seat.

There were 3 bedrooms and could sleep 7 people. The closet space was ample. One problem - only one BR had a closet!

Our bed had the mattress sit on a wooden frame that was about an inch above the floor. That means we were sleeping about 10 inches or so off the floor. Try getting up in the middle of the night from that. I gave up and slept on the sofa in the LR the next 3 nights.

Two of the drawers in our dresser were locked. The chair in our BR was so wobbly and weak that we did not dare sit on it; I was afraid they would claim damages if we broke it.

There was a clothes washing machine in the kitchen. There was not enough detergent for all our washing needs. (Other apartments had plenty.) There may have been more toilet paper, but we couldn't find it. A box of tissues would also be nice. And, at the risk of sounding like the Ugly American, how about a real coffee pot that brews a whole pot rather than one of those espresso types that only makes about 2 cups.

This apartment is only suited for one couple or, alternatively, a bunch of students traveling together.

We are sorry that you did not find sufficient supplies for your stay. If you run out of anything we are always on hand to provide more if you inform us. We will make sure there is more next time. Just Okay

  • 3 of 5

The residence was fine and the pictures were some what accurate. It was our introduction to "Italian time", unfortunately it only seems to work one way. We had issues with our phone service in contacting the renter. We were chastised for not contacting them earlier from our arrival at the airport to our driver dropping us off at the apartment. When our driver finally contacted the renter we were told "ten minutes". Forty five minutes later a limited English speaking man showed up to let us in. Another hour plus later the gal who showed up to fill out all the paperwork shows up so count on a couple of hours of hanging around before any sight seeing can start. Very limited hot water so plan your shower time to be short and spread out. The church in the neighborhood has no problem chiming their bells at six in the morning and sea gulls seem to have a flight pattern over the apartment which is no indication on the apartment itself but its general location. It is well situated between the Vatican and Colliseum.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review that is always useful to improve the accommodation offered and to resolve problems for future guests. We are very sorry that the guests had to wait to be let in to the apartment (it is not normal practice). In the days leading up to their arrival and even on the day of their arrival, we sent emails asking at what time they were due to arrive in Rome, but had received no response. We only found out when they were in Rome when they called on the way from the airport, and at that point, tried to arrive at the apartment as quickly as possible. We are always disappointed when guests have to wait, so try to ask for them to send arrival times in advance so we can organise the check in time. We hope that you can come to stay again, and see for yourselves the improvements made.

Lovely home in a fun neighborhood with great restaurants and shops right at your doorstep.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment has rustic charm and an inviting deck that we enjoyed everyday. The three bedrooms worked out perfect for us.

If we had a question or problem it was answered quickly. Lots of steps up to the apartment but even my husband managed them. And the reward at the end was the great deck with the beautiful surroundings.

Two bathrooms and one is very small, as is expected in these buildings. We adjusted quickly.

Fun neighborhood with the best cafes. Wish we had more time to explore.

Superb location!

  • 4 of 5

Nice appartment in the fantastic area of Trastevere. We enjoyed most: the rooftop terrace and the fact that this part of town is pretty quiet, but from walking distance of many beautiful sites in Roma!! Just a short walk across the Tiber. If you don't mind sleeping in the livingroom, you can stay here with 6 adults.

The photos give the impression that the appartment is very spacious, that was a little bit dissapointing. But the terrace makes up a lot. And after all, in Roma you should not stay inside but enjoy all the good things the city has to offer! Supermarket and restaurants around the corner.

A great time had by all

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. Apart from the unbelievable queues at The Vatican (which quite put us off) we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our holiday. The flat is really well located and we made the best of local restaurants. Everyone was really pleasant and generous to our almost complete lack of Italian. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Authentic Rome experience

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 4 days in the apartment in early June. It looks as advertised, so don't expect modern. This is an older apartment building, but it was very clean. We loved the terrace and spent much of our time there when not exploring the city. Transportation (bus and tram and taxi stand) in easy walking distance. Also shopping and restaurants very close by. We were able to navigate pretty easily even though the streets are narrow and windy. We felt secure in the neighborhood and in the apartment which has 3 locked doors for access to the building and apartment. Rome is a busy, noisy city so it is not a quiet neighborhood. Our host communicated well with us, before and during the trip. There are only 3 beds, a single and 2 doubles. We thought there were 4, but other than that, it worked well for us. We were told about the limited hot water so were careful in the morning and the 4 of us never ran out.

Map

Car: not necessary

The apartment is located in the historical neighbourhood of Trastevere. A major site in this area is the Church of St. Cecily (Santa Cecilia), which may be seen through the windows of the apartment itself and from the terrace.

Trastevere is among the most ancient and picturesque neighbourhoods of the city. Restaurants, bars, cafès and cinemas in all the windy streets and alleys liven the area up, especially in the warmer months when tables spill out onto the sidewalks and the streets and piazzas become a large meeting place or salotto.

Within a few minutes’ distance is the lovely Gianicolo garden.

The area is well served by public transport going to the historical center via the tramline 8, albeit a 10 minute walk leads straight to Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona and the entire center.

The Trastevere railway station is a few stops away via tram.
