This cozy little beach side cottage, is located across the street from the beautiful beach in Hauula, which is on the Windward coast of Oahu. The cottage is reminiscent of old Hawaii. Originally built in 1946, the cottage was renovated in 2006. It is a little slice of paradise with great views of the mountains out back and the ocean in front.
The beach right across the street is great for swimming--the water is clear and calm. The large yard is great for playing, and there is a patio in the back for barbecuing. You can sit on the front porch and watch the sunrise and the ocean. Or you can hang out under the plumeria tree in the yard and relax. The living room and the back bedroom have an air conditioners and there are three ceiling fans. We also have a whole house fan! Check out the comments in our reviews!
There is also a great outdoor shower and toilet area. Two boogie boards, snorkels and masks are provided as well as everything you would need to kick back and have a great stay in this very special place filled with aloha. There are lots of children's floats, buckets and shovels.
Feel the Aloha of Old Hawaii: Our cottage is a slice of the past with all of the modern conveniences. We have some restored authentic furniture with monkeypod tables and rattan sofa and chair.
There are several books about Hawaii as well as visitor guidebooks.
Our family beach cottage.: This cottage has been in our family since the 1960's. It was built in 1946 and has been renovated twice--most recently in 2006. Our children and now our grandchildren enjoy spending time here. There's lots of room in the large yard to play and the beach is right across the street. The street is Kamehameha Highway, the highway that goes almost around the island of Oahu. The beautiful mountains can be seen from the back of the cottage.

Such a comfortable stay!
Our stay at Dianne’s Cozy Cottage was everything for which we had hoped! My wife, daughter, mother and myself all stayed for 6 wonderful nights during early to mid-April 2018, and the cottage proved to be a good location for our numerous trips out and about.
Some highlights of the cottage specifically:
• Well maintained
• Landscaping was picturesque and proved to be a great way for my daughter to expend energy and she chased geckos and birds and smelled the plumerias
• Well stocked with beach-going items, such a savings to not have to purchase ourselves (the snorkeling gear was especially fun)
• Outdoor shower!!
• Temperature control – the cottage can be maintained at a comfortable temperature through several ways! The AC, opening windows, running the ceiling fans, running the whole house fan…and easy to understand guidance is provided for all of the options as well as hints on when to use them, allowing energy to be conserved without sacrificing comfort.
The only con, which is likely already corrected, is that the beach chairs which are stored near the outdoor shower had rusted out and were unusable. We made due by simply transporting the non-folding plastic chairs which was easy enough for us given we had a mini-van. Other than that, the listing was very accurate in providing what we were made to expect.
Anyway, the Polynesian Cultural Center is really good, but to really experience it, we needed 1.5 days. It's not cheap, so you don’t want to rush, and we would have preferred a full 2 days. Dole Plantation was a fun excursion, and we watched the surfers at the North Shore as well. Pearl Harbor was another enjoyable day, that experience impacted me more than I ever thought it would. It’s a must.
The weather did not cooperate with us as there were large storms nearby (Kauai experienced bad flooding) that made the ocean turbulent and the sky cloudy. Not much to be done about that, but we drove to the West side of the island to the Ko Olina Lagoons which are manmade and great for kids, and the sun had decided to actually shine there that day. The drive there was scenic and enjoyable and didn’t take very long, about an hour.
Overall we really appreciated how much like a home it felt like and really enjoyed our stay.
Great Location, Great Home
Beautiful view of the beach with a beautiful cottage. They have done a great job of getting this home outfitted and in great condition to make your vacation great. Loved it.
Charming, comfortable and convenient
We loved our stay in this charming little cottage! It was clean, comfortable and had everything my wife, daughter and I needed. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and we very much appreciated having all the beach gear we needed. The photos from the listing do it justice, it was exactly as shown! We loved all the windows and opened them every morning and evening letting in the nice breezes and the sounds of rain, birds, etc.. I don't think we ever heard anything coming from the neighbors (except for one very pleasant and helpful conversation from a guy working on the house next door) and it was relaxing and peaceful. There is some traffic noise from the highway, but it wasn't a big deal to us. The location was fantastic - we had activities planned everywhere from the Honolulu area all the away around the windward side to Haleiwa and it was easy to get everywhere. Stores and restaurants are a short drive away and there are lots of activities close by. For a family of three looking for a laid back, relaxed Hawaiian vacation we could not have done any better!
We shared the cottage with our grown son and his spouse, and were very pleased with the cottage. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and well supplied. The beach is right across the road, which is not busy or noisy, and we snorkeled each day of our stay. We will be back!
A great home base.
While exploring the North Shore we loved coming back to this tidy little cottage. It is well stocked with everything and neat as a pin. We were there for ten days. Every day was lovely and the view is superb. Some days we chose to sit on the porch and enjoy it.
We hope to return next year.
Same again please
Has simply everything for us... every chance we will be back.
