My family of four boys lives in St. Louis, Mo and we have been vacationing in northern Michigan since 1989. After trying several areas we tried Glen Arbor, staying in houses around the area. When we first rented at the Homestead Condominiums in 1998. We zeroed in on this particular condominium because it is everything we wanted. When it went up for sale in 2004 we knew we just had to buy it and actually worked out details when we where there on our August vacation.
Mark Helfers purchased this condo in 2004
This place is our dream. The views are spectacular, it has plenty of space for our family which has now been expanded by 3 grandsons. The kids grew up on the absolutely beautiful beach and in the pristine Crystal River. For all the years we have been going up north, every year we find something new. None of the family has ever been bored - it is impossible! There is something for everyone.
Great place – wonderful amenities – Heavenly beach! Thanks for letting us come and visit – it was awesome. The Sullivans, Elmhurst , Indyour condo is beautiful and the view is breathtaking! We are having a wonderful week - The Hoffmans, st louis, moJul 6-13,08 Thank you so much, Mark and Maureen! It was an absolute delight to rent your beautiful , spacious condo for the week. We all had a wonderful time, and you thought of everything when furnishing and equipping your place. We sure would love to return sometime in the future! Best wishes. The Yetter Family, Farmington Hill, MiAugust 16, 2008 We had a most relaxing delightful week, thanks for your great condo. The view from the balcony is exquisite and awesome, especially at sunset. Our family has been coming to Lake Michigan for the last five years and my wife and I can honestly say this one has been the best. The Rudnick Family, Sam, Betty, Tom and Lisa. My other two daughters, their spouses and children (our grandchildren} always ended up at out condo even though they had their own a few units away from us, except for the evening bonfire gathering.
We had 4 couples and we all agreed the beds and furniture were comfortable! The view is fantastic with the windows in livingroom/diningroom and upstairs bedroom and balcony all facing the water! We were there Sept 24 - 28 so we did not swim or use beach items but the weather was fabulous all 5 days. There were walking trails in the woods and the area's streets were great for walking also. Having gone through what must have been a tornado the month before, there were fallen, uprooted trees all over the place so it was quite a sight. The condo was well stocked, as previous reviews mentioned, and the unexpected flights of stairs to get to the this top condo were tough when moving stuff in but we really loved being in the top condo. I highly recommend this condo and its beautiful location near so many neat places to visit.
Everything was wonderful - close to the beach, clean and nice accomodations and wonderfully stocked with basics (towels, tissue, soap, beach chairs and toys, kitchen spices, dishes, coffee filters, everything that you would need and some things that are not typically stocked). This condo worked out perfect for us with 4 small grandkids!
Very nice trip! Love that we were on the water and the sunsets were tranquil. Even a bit chilly yet we still had fun...love being on a beach...period!
The condo was perfect for a relaxed group-vacation getaway. The condo is well-equipped for a group (we were 8 adults in town for a wedding) and there was plenty of space to get ready, hang out, cook meals, etc. We especially appreciated the three bathrooms and two floors - just in terms of coordinating group outings. The kitchen was equipped with all the basics you'd need to feed 8 hungry people, and the beach supplies made it so easy just to run down for an hour or two in the morning. We loved that the space was set up for use (not just for looks, but it was also pretty cute), so that we could really just relax. I will also note (and the owner did make sure I realized!) that two of the bedrooms have twin/trundle beds - this was actually a "plus" for our mixed group of singles/couples!
The development was full of families and other groups of adults. Everyone we encountered was very nice and respectful - people seemed to be there to relax and have fun, but we had no issues with noise at all. The location was a 2-minute drive to the grocery store and some cute bars/restaurants, and very close to the famous dunes as well.
As other commenters noted, the location and the view are lovely! We spent our days on the beach before wedding errands and our evenings drinking wine on the balcony. Lake Michigan is beautiful - clear water, sandy beaches, even a sailboat or two.
The owner was very easy to communicate with and very nice about answering questions.
Thank you so much for the great vacation!!! If I'm lucky enough to be back in Glen Arbor, I would love to stay again :)
Review #9012535 a wonderful place
glen arbor, the homestead, and this condo in particular provided a wonderful vacation spot for our family--including 3 hovering around 70, and 2 under 5, and the rest in-between. the view from the condo's living room and dining room is wonderful, and together with the balcony, provided a beach experience for those of us who didn't venture down too often. for those who did, the sand and water offered a myriad of actiivites--the condo provides beach chairs and towels and an umbrella so you needn't bring your own. the four bedrooms and 3 baths provided ample space, and the upstairs loft area provided a perfect yoga spot. in response to an earlier comment, we felt the condo was tastefully furnished and comfortably used--which is helpful when you have small children along (we did some child-proofing with the break-ables). my only advice to future renters is to not load up your suitcases too much- there is no reason to with the washer and dryer - and the only time we regretted the 3 flights of stairs to the condo was when we were carrying our luggage in and out! we definitely hope to return again!
Our family of six had a great week at this clean, well maintained, comfortable condo! I had not paid attention to the number of bathrooms prior to our arrival and was pleasantly surprised that there are three full baths! We've never rented with a grill available to us before and that was a treat. The two flights of stairs were not a problem for us (and helped tire out our four children--ages 12 and under) in addition to our excursions in and around Glen Arbor. Looking forward to returning in the future!
