TOAD HALL – BERRYNARBOR

The Area

Situated in picturesque Berrynarbor (several times a winner of ‘Best Kept Village’) at the coastal end of the beautiful Sterridge Valley, this detached dormer bungalow makes an ideal retreat for a relaxing holiday in one of Devon’s most popular areas. The 13th-century church, superb 17th-century family-friendly pub (400 yards) and pretty stone cottages with dazzling floral displays create the rural charm of this tranquil setting.

Located just a 10 minute walk from a secluded beach nestled amongst towering cliffs and majestic headlands of the spectacular Heritage Coastline, the house offers easy access to the golden sands of Woolacombe (6 miles) and Croyde (9 miles), popular with surfers and beach lovers, as well as Watermouth Castle (½ mile - one of the West Country’s premier tourist attractions) and its attractive harbour where there are slipway facilities for visitors’ watercraft.

Away from the coast is the rugged beauty of Exmoor National Park (5 miles). Famous for its wildlife, hidden valleys, charming villages and marked tracks it is a fabulous landscape for nature lovers, walkers and horse riders.

To the East lies Combe Martin (½ mile), with its rocky coves, tearooms and pubs. In the West you’ll find Ilfracombe (2 miles), the fashionable family seaside town, with its theatre, swimming pool, restaurants, shops, pubs and lively harbour, from which the windswept Lundy Island is accessible by boat. National Trust properties Arlington Court, Dunster Castle and Watersmeet are all nearby, as is Chambercombe Manor, Marwood Gardens and Dinosaur Park (Combe Martin). Tennis, golf, riding, quad biking and water sports are all available locally. Shop 400 yards.

Toad Hall

Toad Hall is a dog friendly, 5-bedroom house that comfortably accommodates nine, with the option to sleep an additional 2 persons (1 x child and a baby). The house has a driveway for 2 cars, but additional parking is available in roadside bays and a free, 24-hour car park in the village, 400 yards away.

GROUND FLOOR

Living Room - a large, sunny room with wood burner, sofa-bed (for +1 alternative sleeping only), bay window, sea views and patio doors to verandah and a raised, decked area.

Kitchen - a large, well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen/dining room, complete with range cooker in inglenook, large dining table, TV and wooden floor.

Utility Room - outside there is a utility room complete with washing machine, dryer and sink.

Large Double Bedroom – a large double bedroom with four-poster bed, additional child’s single bed (for +1 alternative sleeping only), cot, TV, bay window, sea views and patio door leading to verandah.

About Ann Rees

Hi, My name is Ann Rees, owner of Toad Hall, Berrynarbor. I am a mother of four, currently residing in Kent where I run a business handcrafting bespoke Dog Collars and Coats. I spent all my summer holidays as a child in Cornwall, thus when my parents retired to Devon it was lovely to take my own family for holidays in the unique surrounds of the West Country.

Why Ann Rees chose Berrynarbor

Toadhall has been in my family since 1975, when my mother and father chose to retire to North Devon. All four of my children spent their summer holidays at Toadhall, embracing the fresh air, countryside, beaches and delights that Berrynarbor and surrounding areas have to offer. An idyllic escape for children, adults and families alike. The house has such sentimental value and memories that we couldn't bare to part with it when my parents passed away and thus, I took on the ownership of the property. It gives me great pleasure to be able to share our family home with you, and hope that get as much enjoyment out of it as we have done over the past 40 years.

                                                          Peace and quiet in a lovely coastal setting

                                                          Toad Hall is a large dormer bungalow, very well equipped to house a big family group. We found everything we needed, plus Christmas decorations and table settings, as we arrived close to Christmas. Contact with the owner and owners agent was easy and much appreciated. I have arthritis issues and found the big bedroom at the back a little chilly for me, so moved to a smaller room, but that would not be a problem for everyone and certainly not in the summer. Wonderful views, spotless facilities and convenient parking. All in all, a lovely home in a stunning area. We couldn't recommend it highly enough.

                                                          Perfect long weekend away .Lovely house spacious and clean .There was cakes bottle of bubbly ,balloons, birthday banners ,we all had smiles on our faces all weekend even the mother-in-law, hope she doesn't read this .If carlsburg did holiday rentals this would be it .                                                           A well kept house with spacious gardens suitable for young children and dogs. Easy access to friendly village with well stocked shop an excellent pub, coves, coastal walks, Combe Martin harbour with its exceptional rock pools, Woolacombe Sands ("best beach in UK"), Woody Bay steam train and Exmoor.

                                                          A £200 refundable security deposit is required, and will be considered paid when the remaining balance of the holiday rental has been received. This will be refunded fully, within 14 days of check-out, subject to the property being left in an acceptable condition.
